Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XIII: Leak Dynasty

Alright guys, obviously anything could change, but if this is indeed our final list of newcomers:

srouvc.png

How do you feel Smash 4 did with it's newcomer selection? I made this picture so you try and think of the newcomers as a whole, not just the ones leaked.

Me personally? A few missed opportunities aside, fucking stoked. 15 new fighters is nothing to scoff regardless of clones, and you could even bump that number to 17 if you count the Mii Fighter as 3 different characters.

Yeah, it's a pretty solidly-sized roster, and I think it's larger than what a lot of people thought it would be. I rank the newcomers as such:

1. Little Mac
2. Mega Man
3. Palutena
4. Robin
5. Bowser Jr. (and Koopalings)
6. Villager
7. Wii Fit Trainer
8. Lucina
9. Pac-Man
10. Duck Hunt
11. Shulk
12. Dark Pit
13. Rosalina & Luma
14. Greninja
15. Mii Fighters

The first stage...

Or you know, being optimistic, thinking rationally, and using the evidence provided to make a logical decision.

Guess it's denial that

- No Smash Run enemy lacks a playable character
- There is a weird, awkward amount of space on the CSS, which amounts to exactly enough space for 5 more slots.
- We have literally no idea if this is the entire roster. At all. In fact, it's already proven that not only was this leak from an earlier build, but that it didn't even have everything unlocked.
- Ice Climbers are long time vets of Smash, incredibly unique characters, and characters Sakurai considers one of his best ideas for the series.
- The only reason Nintendo is even able to put Ice Climbers in games like NES Remix and sell them successfully on the Virtual Console is because they are in Smash. Ice Climbers is kind of a bad game on its own...

Just denial I guess.

We don't know anything for sure, but the very premise of All Stars mode, and the fact the it was still locked, indicates that we don't know all the characters yet.

That's good. I just want there to be hope. If it's still locked, I can only assume that there are characters left. Melee and Brawl's All-Star modes are unlocked by unlocking all characters, right?

The only thing concerning me about the leak is the paucity of stages. Only 35 total stages, with fewer than 30 actually being new. Fewer than Brawl, and about the same amount of new stages as in Melee.

I hope we get about 45+ for the Wii U version...

In my opinion, there's got to be at least one more stage. Plus, I am of the opinion that in both Melee and Brawl, stages were much harder to unlock than the characters.

Yeah, if those really are all the stages, I imagine the Wii U is going to have a lot more. Can't see him giving both versions less than Brawl.

Yeah, now stages are my main concern.
A lot of those for 3DS are from Brawl/Meele. It's a little disappointing.

I don't know, Mewtwo, Wolf, Toon Link and Brawl Jiggly give some stages a run for their money

As a kid though, it took me literal years to unlock Final Destination in Melee.

Ganondorf tied for 14 as well huh.
Not bad but i'm in the boat that want to see him with a new moveset over using Falco as his base. Even though I prefer him to Captain Falcon.

The second stage...

I'm hoping that they have more stages planned as DLC, even if it's just more retro stages.

Why do people go against Dark Pit when we have Doctor Mario, Toon Link and Lucina?

Heck, maybe his moveset will be more different than his counterpart's compared to those.

The hope is, he will have the Mario Tornado as his Down B which could be used for a better recovery than Mario has while he then gets Mario's old Down Air move (the drill). Both of those changes, coupled with the pill trajectory/KB/damage, and the other different properties on Doc's attacks from Melee and he will definitely play completely differently from Mario (if not a completely better character overall than Mario).

We'll see though. It's always possible he still will have FLUDD anyway. :\

I know. As a humongous zelda fan it still hurts :/ A quick, last-minute decision for melee has clinged to him this whole time :(

He's not ganondorf, to me. He's some weird smash bros character that most people don't like. He might as well be on polygon team or something.

I dunno, I liked how he played in Melee and I think a lot of people do like the idea of a slower, more powerful Captain Falcon. The sad thing is, the character the move set is slapped onto is Ganondorf. On top of that, Sakurai decides to then nerf the character for whatever reason starting with PAL Melee by nerfing his Fair (though tbh this could be more NoA/NoE than Sakurai but I digress) to then nerfing it even further in Brawl by making it slower and un-autocancelable, making his Down B weaker in knockback overall, forward tilt lost the different angles you could change it in (such as up and forward and down and forward, much like Captain Falcon's Ftilt), and then of course the character being slowed down overall because of the inherent changes in Brawl.

I think plenty of people do like the existing Ganondorf move set that would be upset if it moved to Black Shadow (as an example). BUT I think Sakurai would make more people happy if he did that, period. He doesn't necessarily need a sword to be made/given a unique move set (I honestly would much prefer a mix between dark magic and melee combat moves).

That's just what I think, though.

Japan probably doesn't care about it, and IS doesn't want anything to do with it since the Advance series wasn't a big hit (in Japan) and DoR bombed (so badly that they had to cancel the initial JP release for it and then, years later, release it as a CN reward)

This all makes sense, but sales don't seem to be that large a factor in the roster selection. Kid Icarus didn't meet expectations AFAIK, and gets a total of 3 characters - Star Fox was already in steady and massive decline both in quality and sales by Brawl's release and got 3 reps, punch-out isn't popular in Japan either and had it's last game released only one year after Days of Ruin... (actually... it was 4 years before if you count the 2013 JPN release heh).

It seems to me that it must be a combination of having fallen out with the mainstream, the hardcore, and the developers all at once. Makes me sad :(

Not only that, but they aren't that great of picks, imo. Corneria and the Yoshi stage are the only ones I wanted back. The rest I could care less about and don't really play on.

I don't know, Mewtwo, Wolf, Toon Link and Brawl Jiggly give some stages a run for their money

As a kid though, it took me literal years to unlock Final Destination in Melee.

I didn't ever unlock any of the past stages in Melee as a kid. Took me until my late teens to do it.

Okay,

Gartooth, Here is your avatar for your avatar bet. Since you are betting for Simon Belmont to be in the game so I want to honor that by giving you cheesy Simon.

SVIJb5T.png

Dimitri LH, you bet that there would be under 49 characters so we got 51 characters instead. Here is your avatar. Since the numbers don't really bring anything personality to avatar so I will pick random for you and K_Reign.

K_Reign, you bet for 42 characters but I'm pretty sure that we are going to WAY OVER that number so I'm going to give you random avatar as well due to numbers.

Exactly. I don't understand some people want to get rid of Dark Pit or Dark Pit and Dr. Mario together when they have Lucina and Toon Link. I felt that it was hypocrite talking.

Question Ganondorf fans. Clone or not would you all be ok if he had his melee clone moveset instead of his semi-clone brawl moveset?

Bio
Ganondorf, known as the Great King of Evil or the Dark Lord, is the primary antagonist of a majority of the games in the Legend of Zelda series. Ganondorf was born a member of the Gerudo; as the only male member to be born in a hundred years, Ganondorf is made either the King of the Gerudo or the Guardian of the Desert, depending on the game. Gifted with powerful magic, Ganondorf often seeks the omniscient Triforce to grant his wish of conquering the entire world. He frequently wields the Triforce of Power, and stages coups against the Royal Family of Hyrule to take the Hyrulean Throne by force. In the English-localized game manual of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, his full name is stated to be Ganondorf Dragmire, and his alias before his incursion into the Sacred Realm is stated to have been Mandrag Ganon, meaning "Ganon of the Enchanted Thieves."

The Triforce of Power that Ganondorf often holds grants him near-immortality; the only weapons that can truly defeat him are the Master Sword, Silver Arrows, and Light Arrows. In addition to granting him power, the Triforce of Power allows Ganondorf to transform into his more powerful beast form, Ganon, reminiscent of a pig or hog. During events of the ending of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the timeline of The Legend of Zelda series is severed into three separate timelines. Thus the Ganondorf from Ocarina of Time has three different future incarnations, each eventually meeting their end at the hands of different Links, leaving uncertain futures for each Ganondorf. In addition to the character from Ocarina of Time and his three parallel future selves, Ganondorf or his monstrous Ganon form appear several more times throughout the series. It is not confirmed which if any of these incarnations are connected to the previous being, and the Ganondorf in The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures is given a different backstory, leading to the idea that there may be multiple Ganondorfs, much like many other characters in the Legend of Zelda series who have multiple incarnations.

Ugh, once again, not deserving over that amazing 15,16, and 17 combo

Crap, I just heard Mewtwo and Wolf may permanently be out. :(

Huh? Care to explain?

Wolf, Ivysaur, and Lucas being out is already crushing enough. The Brawl newcomers I liked playing as were Ivysaur, Charizard, Ike, Lucario, R.O.B., Lucas, and Wolf. And Sakurai cut 3 of them.

Question Ganondorf fans. Clone or not would you all be ok if he had his melee clone moveset instead of his semi-clone brawl moveset?

Perfectly fine. In fact, every single Melee move aside from the side-b and maybe the up-b if it had better knockback was better than its respective Brawl move.

Thank you. That's my general feeling as well, but today and last week, the seed of doubt has been planted. It seems it grows faster in some than others.

I still have hope.

I really hope they reveal them tonight :) ultimate way for samurai to take control of the leak.

I'd say Lucas or wolf, but it seems like you'd get ness or falco first.

There's also the fact that Fire Emblem just seems like the more popular franchise for IS. Which sucks, because I'm a bigger fan of Wars than FE.
