I disagree.
Knowing what each character can do and cannot do is as important as the match-up itself in a free flow combat game like Smash. There's no complicated frame data, little to no links combo to be mastered. It's all about knowing what any specific character can do at any given time, and what better way to know that and develop as a Smash player than by actually playing everyone?
Sure, in a tournament, serious setting, I'd probably use those I'm most comfortable, but I think it's absolutely premature to say who that'd be without having had the feel of each and only going by character preference.

Tharja alts are impossible, but Dark Mage or Sorcerer alts might happen.
Especially considering Robin, Ike and Marth can use nearly every class in Awakening...

Yeah, so that stops the derailing a bit. Still, if I were working at nintendo and in charge of this, I would have at least waited for smash to be on store shelves to announce it. Anything that has a chance to derail smash hype, i'd avoid.
Yeah, it's also true that if pokken comes to Wii U, it could increase Wii U sales which could, in turn, increade Smash sales, so who knows.
Having that specific character appear as a costume seems much less likely than just giving Robin a dark mage outfit, especially considering no characters have modeled alts that actually turn them into different characters. Having Tharja herself appear as a separate trophy would also be odd if this were the case.

To be honest, Pokken would be perfect fighting game for Smash + Pokemon Fans. If they didn't get their favorite characters in then they still have a chance to be in Pokken.

That's true lol, but a Pokemon fighter in itself is really exciting, just Tekken is one of the worst series to pair it with.

Well, hopefully online isn't total ass and i'm not at max coins all the time.
Those were the reasons I didn't ever do it in brawl. Always had max coins (and playing the trophy minigame was tedious) and getting online wasn't a pleasant experience.
If i'm always online and it's a button away, i might do it more often. Especially since you can buy individual trophies at a high-ish price, coins might actually get used this time.

You know, given the fact that Jr.'s riding in a vehicle, it's odd to me that they didn't use that to their advantage and make him a heavyweight character.
Yep, it's surprising how good the IQ looks despite being on the relatively weaker 3DS. The textures look equivalent to Brawl > SSB4 > Melee.
The Clown Car isn't all that heavy. A lot of the items it uses for the attacks are stored in hammerspace, which is weightless.

I'd hardly argue that Tharja is likely to be an alt (or even reasonably going to be), but we've seen that you get Larry Koopa's trophy through random means as opposed to playing as him, and all signs point to the Koopalings being playable alts of Jr.

We don't really know if he is or not. Yoshi and Wario are heavyweights (heavier than Ike lol) but it doesn't feel like they are because of their fast air speed and floaty fall.
I thought SSB4 said 64 for a second. I was confused lol.

I'm honestly surprised by how great the 3DS version looks. It runs really smooth and looks great on the XL. I'm really pumped to get it.

Holiday 2015 doesn't sound that unreasonable, but maybe that's just me.
Except that Larry Koopa's trophy depicts him in his playable form, whereas the Tharja trophy is a cleaned-up version of her FEA model, similar to Tiki's. Though I guess things like the Metroid Prime model rips for the trophies of Samus' suits in Brawl could be brought up as a counter-example...
Even then, I still find the possibility of a Tharja alt to be incredibly improbable - this version of Bowser Jr. seems to have been designed completely around the Koopaling alt concept, whereas Robin seems to be entirely focused around being a representation of Awakening's avatar character.
