Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XIII: Leak Dynasty

Well imo this is the worst newcomer list in SSB. Shulk from the Borefest game (Really... that game is tedious as hell and i cant understand how people like MMO missions in a damn singleplayer RPG game), Dark Pit (For fucks sake), Double Fire Emblem (Metroid has exactly 2 characters...wich are are the same, as well as DK. And F-Zero has only ONE character. Fire Emblem has now 4, 3 of them have a sword.). The rest is understandable and cool. 4 lame characters instead of Veterans or characters people wanted (Ridley?).

And Ganondorf will probably have the same moveset as Captain Falgon... AGAIN.

Shulk is awesome and Xenoblade is fantastic!

Everything else is on point though.

Alright guys, obviously anything could change, but if this is indeed our final list of newcomers:

How do you feel Smash 4 did with it's newcomer selection? I made this picture so you try and think of the newcomers as a whole, not just the ones leaked.

Me personally? A few missed opportunities aside, fucking stoked. 15 new fighters is nothing to scoff regardless of clones, and you could even bump that number to 17 if you count the Mii Fighter as 3 different characters.

Shulk - Happy he's in, definitely one of the characters introduced between Brawl and Smash 4 that deserves to be in.

Pac Man - Super happy he's in. One of the only third party characters that really deserves to be in there. As soon as Namco was involved, I had a feeling we'd be playing as Pac Man in the new Smash.

Bowser Jr. - I always thought Bowser Jr. or Baby Bowser would be a cool choice for Smash. A smaller, quicker, more agile Bowser that hits softer. Only problem is, Bowser is hella fast in this game. Luckily, it looks like the two don't play similar at all, so that's good. Wouldn't be on my first ballot for new comers, but I'm happy to see him in the game.

Wii Fit Trainer - Amazing WTF character. As much as I'm not a fan of "games" like Wii Fit, one can't deny it's importance in Nintendo's history at this point. The game is deserving of a rep in Smash Bros, and WFT's moveset looks really unique and quirky.

Villager - Animal Crossing is slowly becoming an A-level franchise for Nintendo, so a playable rep was due. Happy with this choice.

Megaman - The most hype newcomer by far. It's fucking Mega Man. If any third party character deserves to be in based on his history with Nintendo, it's Mega Man. Even over Snake and Sonic. Dude was a superstar during the NES era, and Sakurai clearly built the character, his moveset and his movement around that specific version of the character.

Rosalina - Rosalina is great. More female reps are always a good thing, and she comes from two of the greatest games ever made. I'm okay with that.

Palutena - Kid Icarus Uprising was an awesome game. Sakurai also made it, so Palutena was one of those characters I knew was going to be in from day one. Her moveset looks cool, and she's a great character, so I'm happy she's in.

Little Mac - What was one an assist trophy is now a playable character! I never really got into Punch Out, but Little Mac has a unique moveset and brings awesome music to the game. Happy to see him in there.

Duck Hunt Dog - Another WTF character that I would have never guessed. Really curious to see how he plays. I always love seeing retro, "obscure" characters being reborn in Smash Bros, and DHD is no exception.

Lucina - I really like Lucina as a character, but all signs point to her just being a worse version of Marth... hard to get excited about that. However, I'll give her the nod since she's a clone of one of the most fun characters to play in Smash, and she's from Fire Emblem Awakening. Also, female reps! That's enough for me.

Greninja - Fucking awesome. Another character I would have never seen coming. Sakurai just chose an awesome, new Pokemon that looked like it could have a great Smash Bros moveset, and decided to go with it. Fuck popularity. I love Greninja, I love how he plays, and I love that he's in the game. My most hyped character besides Mega Man, and I think he just might be the newcomer I'll be playing the most.

Miis - Definitely deserving to be in this game. Miis represent the biggest new IP for Nintendo since the Wii dropped, the Wii _____ franchise. The have a pretty interesting gimmick, too.

Robin - Fire Emblem Awakening is an incredible game. Robin is from that game. Therefore, I'm happy Robin is in. I wouldn't have minded Chrom getting in, too. Fuck it, Fire Emblem reps for everyone. Definitely excited for this character.

Dark Pit - Ah.... so close. Sorry, fuck this guy. It's a palette swap. Dude was literally a palette swap in the last game. Not cool, Sakurai. So biased.
<3

14/15 ain't bad. I'm pretty happy with this selection. The characters I never would have imagined getting in (Wii Fit Trainer, Duck Hunt Dog, Greninja, Robin, Lucina, Dark Pit) are all worthwhile additions IMO, the exception being Dark Pit. Everyone else I feel like would have got into Smash sooner or later, and the two third party reps were at the top of the list of "Third Party Reps that deserve to get into Smash 4".

Only problem is... there are two Nintendo characters that deserve to be in over any of the currently announced newcomers. That is, the main villain of the Metroid franchise, Ridley, and the main villain of the Donkey Kong franchise, K Rool. If they don't make it in to Smash 4 via DLC, I have to imagine they are saving them for Smash 5. They are already scraping the bottom of the barrel with some of the choices in this game, and unless Nintendo starts pumping out new IPs between now and Smash 5, I really don't know who's left. Ridley and K Rool are so obvious, they honestly should have been Melee characters, or Brawl at the latest.

But it's not that big a deal for me, I probably wouldn't have played them anyways ^_^

Dr. Mario fucking sucks, as much as I love his games, I'd rather have one less playable character than have it at all. Fuck him

Things in games that are actually lazy:

- Known-Shippables; Bugs that they know about but don't have the time or want to expend the effort to fix. As consumers, we will almost never know about these.

These are not always laziness. They're often times a matter of risk assessment. If the bug is minor but the potential of pulling the thread and unraveling the whole cloth is deemed too high, the bug will be left in place.

"Pic of the day. Enjoyed today's leak, did you, fuckers? Please enjoy this first look at the Ice Climbers' trophy! The Ice Climbers were playable fighters in previous versions of Super Smash Bros., but they unfortunately didn't quite make the cut this time around. However, we were able to make their trophy extra detailed -- see how chilly they look? This trophy appears in both Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, by the way, so I hope you'll take a close look and appreciate all the details. It's almost as if they were playable!"

not to seem demanding or picky since at this point the roster feels good and complete even without Ridley...but i think bowser jr should be able to fight wihtout his chopper-clown thingy which would then turn him into a semi bowser clone (faster, no special grab moves Bowser has, just melee) and Bowser should be able to fight with his own freak clown machine, make him a real heavy projectile terror.
Ever since Galaxy, Bowser Jr.'s been a behind-the-curtain sort of character; he either pilots a Clown Car or commands some kind of giant mech. On the other hand, you usually fight Bowser head-on in his boss battles. They're incredibly unique from each other in Smash Bros., and giving them both the ability to fight on foot or in a Clown Car would make them feel samey.

Thanks!

Also, side question: I tried the Wii Fire Emblem when I was like 12, and couldn't appreciate non-Paper Mario RPGs then, so should I give Awakening a chance?
Hmmmm if you don't enjoy SRPGs I wouldn't advise it since it lacks the S for a Fire Emblem game. If colorful characters can drive you to the end of the game, sure.

Thanks!

Radiant Dawn was a terrible choice to start with. It's a direct sequel which means the game expects you to already know how to play right from the start. The story is also barely interesting without playing PoR first.

So yes, give Awakening a chance. It was made with newcomers in mind and also has plenty of extra content and some of the best characters in the series.

Hoping POTD is something that kills our brains tonight. Or it'll just be nothing again. I hope I see Sakurai's creative response to today's info in the POTD, though.

EDIT: I am too slow...

Pic of the day. Spectator Mode is available even on the compact 3DS version!! In this mode, you can watch players all around the world fight and make bets with in-game gold. Wager wisely by checking out the player names, rules, win rates, odds, fighters, and stage!!

Being able to cheer someone on is what really makes spectating matches fun. This time, 1st and 2nd place will get prizes in four-player matches, and spectators can bet the gold they win on Bonus Chances.

K.Rool is like a bad dream that everyone at Nintendo is trying hard to forget.

Sure, you laugh about it sometimes, like you tell the story of a car accident and how you narrowly survived. But inside you know it's best to dissociate yourself from it.

Speaking of music, if a remix of Frosty Fruits (or the original In a Snow Bound Land) isn't in, someone fucked up.

Jammin' Jams, every version of Lockjaw's Saga Returns, Scorch n Torch, Grassland Grove, Twilight Terror (Stickerbrush Symphony Returns), Homecoming Hijinx, Aqueduct Assault, Alpine Incline (Ground), and Big Top Bop have to be in these games in some form.

OH GOD. SAKURAI INCORPORATED SALTYBETS INTO SMASH.

You'd rather have one less playable character just out of spite? Seriously?

I'd prefer a roster without him, honestly. Without any clones. I'd prefer a tight roster with less characters but who are all unique than a padded out one with clones. I'm aware that clones don't take a limited spot instead of someone else, but still. It feels like padding when that's not necessary, let the roster stand on its own.

Oh it's from the Spectator mode. I never entered one in Brawl, but I'll this one this time for sure.

Guess the leaks are definitely real for those dumb to have doubt...there's the betting system, and the Omega Symbol.
