Never saw the rules in the first post/OT until now.

Oops. I guess it's too late so I will have to get rid of that rule now. :lol Good Catch :)

After rummaging through the MK8 leak, I really feel like this was intended to be a Nintendo Direct surprise, which probably means we'll be getting one this week or next. And by Direct I mean our Fall/Winter Direct we've been waiting for.

Yeah, that's what I told my friends and SmashIRC. Some people starting to speculated that we are getting one very soon. Hopefully we are right.
 
I was playing some Smash 64 today and remembered just how awesome Board the Platforms was. I really like how each character's stage is designed around mastering their platforming abilities rather than their fighting abilities like with Target Test. I wonder why they never brought it back for the sequels.

I'm sure someone posted it, but I really like "Dark" costumes for characters. Might be cool for the Zelda characters at least.
 
Judging by the purple accents which weren't in Brawl Zelda's black color scheme, this is probably the closest to a Hilda costume we're getting. Still, can't really complain given the fact that LBW and Smash are within just a year of each other.

edit: wait no evidently i'm wrong and silly
 
It's hilarious how Kraid's cut Prime model is the Metroid equivalent of rematch King Hippo.

Perhaps Science Team's brains condensed fora mere moment before returning to their natural states.

yeah im a fan of pretty much everyone in brawl having a dark costume or a dark version, I also like in melee and brawl alot of the human characters like peach, marth and roy had white color swaps(aswell as gold for pit and roy) and I use to put a free for all featuring all of them and calling it the wedding set

Hopefully, there's a proper Hilda palette in addition to it...though I guess it's possible palettes / costumes representing newer games could be included as part of DLC packs, like MK8's coloured Yoshis.

Not sure who made this image but I noticed something. The CSS box says "Random." In Brawl if you chose random didn't it instantly choose a character? Or did it wait until the match started? I can't remember.

I am wondering...if maybe the Random box disappears in order to make room for a new character? at some point and clicking on the CSS box chooses a random character again.

It didn't show the character on the select screen.
 
Problem is that if we were informed about all the cut characters from the beginning then we'd pretty much know the whole veteran roster.

Is knowing which veteran characters will make it in from the outset such a bad thing? Most speculation for veterans seems to be along the lines of wondering if they received a visual upgrade, if they were buffed or nerfed, if they have any interesting new moves or costumes. The possibility they might not make it in at all is just a sour undertone most people would be happy to do without.

Most marketing is centred around newcomers regardless, so little would have to change if they adopted such a policy.

I always thought this would be cool, have another character unlock after the first fight, then another after the second. Pretty much you have to defeat each character to "deserve" them. Of course after the first dozen then space them out like normal.

Besides it would give me an excuse to play Mario for the first time

In brawl it stayed as random until the match starts, but in melee it picked the character immediately.
 
Man, this MK8 DLC news has me so hyped, because at the very least I know there is a chance almost every remaining veteran who does not show up in the 3DS version has a real shot of being a part of future packs. Plus, new games like A Link Between Worlds and Tropical Freeze that don't have new stages might have some in the future.
