Yeah, I dunno. Regardless of the locked all-star mode thing, I keep getting flashbacks to the Brawl leak days when people kept saying the same thing: "there has to be more characters!!!"

Also I refuse to believe that leak for the 1 ice climber bullshit. No way Sakurai is splitting up popo and nana. I love those dudes :(

I thought I heard the real leaker was already caught and is being sued by Nintendo?

If that's true, it wouldn't make sense for someone to try and ruin their life even more.

Yeah, no DK/Metroid newcomer sucks but with the newcomers we have now + a RH rep and the veterans outside of Snake remaining as is, it'd still definitely be in the realm of 'good' rather mixed like the current leak sort of is due to its character cuts.

Was there an argument back then beyond just being a gut-feeling though? At least there's actual proof, however debatable that we haven't seen everything. The video even shows stuff like challenges (whatever they're going to be) getting slowly unlocked, so the hypothetical player (I get it's a beta build and not an actual copy being played by a real player) definitely didn't have the game 100% completed.
 
Let's see if this leak and the leaked roster line up

Now this leak is saying

+Marshall as a newcomer
+Lucas
+Wolf
+Ice Climber

This would still leave one space empty on the CSS, perhaps this is where a DLC slot could go for future characters added to the game or perhaps Mii Fighters isn't a swap for random when custom is on and they have their own space.

This leak is certainly believable, and sounds far more realistic then the other leaks that flood us with more newcomers.
 
Another text-only leak, allegedly from the real leaker, but with no evidence to back any of it up. Color me skeptical.

Seriously - that whole idea is the result of a year-old Sakurai quote that got totally blown out of proportion. Hey, maybe it's true - I was wrong about the leak being real, after all, so I could be wrong about this - but at this point, there's no actual evidence to support the idea that the 3DS can't handle ICs.

But All-Star Mode was locked in the leaked screens, which gives us some reason to think there are more characters.

Why needs acceptance when you've got hype, anyway?
 
I'd love that just cause Lucas, Wolf, and ICs won't be cut, but ICs alone is kinda dumb. Still better than them being cut I guess, but I truly do not belove that the 3DS cannot handle them.

And that would leave a slot, so let's just say Mewtwo and call it a day. That would be the absolute perfect roster for me
 
based on how nintendo has handled DLC for NSMBU and MK8, im pretty excited for smash bros DLC...

Nintendo seems to be one of the only companies that knows how to value LDC amazingly
 
I'll just casually mention Dark Pit is clearly holding his dark pit staff in the leaked portrait picture, not pit's usual blades/bow.

Not to give credit to a text leak, but the dark pit part isn't too far fetched.



(That being said, considering pit's got idle poses holding his bow or dual swords, he's clearly already designed to work well with exchangable weapons. Dark Pit could easily be a Pit clone with weirder attack properties + more visual flair in the shape of more varied weapons, e.g. palms, claws, staff, blade etc. it'd be fairly easy to swap the weapons in tons of Pit's move to make sense with various kid icarus weapons while still making dark pit technically a clone animation/skeleton-wise..)

You weren't sure before? The way they've been wanting to get these games out on time always made me think that they'll have to make certain concessions with the shipped product so Sakurai will have to supplement it with extras down the line.

They make out Dark Pit has a completely different moveset and isn't a clone, so I still find it suspect even if he is more of a Luigi to Pit than a Dr. Mario.

I'd definitely prefer Pitoo having his own moveset tho.
 
Anything not in picture/video form is 'fun to speculate upon,' but I do not take them seriously until there is photo/video evidence to back it up.

Unfortunately, this one isn't fun to speculate upon, because it ruins ice climbers.

It's using our fears against us to try to validate itself.
 
Gotta think guys, Ice Climbers not being possible on 3DS doesn't just mean 1 extra AI. It's potentially 4 players + 4 AIs per match or even 8 AIs all at once.

That's a lot of processing
 
If the options are

No Ice Climbers EVER because 4 with items and 3D on causes the FPS to drop and Sakurai wants the final build of the game to be rock solid 60FPS regardless of what's going on

OR

Ice Climber which still largely plays the same losing the gimmick of a second character but not being cut completely

I'd gladly take the later option

I would love this! I would play him a lot because I love RH, and I would main him if his moveset is good enough.
 
I still believe IC will be back the same as before. Breaking them apart just doesn't make sense, and I don't believe that the 3DS can't handle IC.

In all fairness, that's Rosalina, though. With Olimar + 3 Pikmin, that's 12 characters total, too.
