alright getting into the Dark Masters arc now.

Is there a reason why none of the other digimon warp evolve? I know they do in the PSP game, but why not in the actual show lo

I've also been wondering why only a few of them have CG sequences while the rest are regularly animated during super evolution

Only a special few could digivolve to Mega in the show. They learned of the legend on how to from Jedi. As for the CG, it was still relatively new at the time and they probably couldn't afford to do it for everyone. Only 1-2 Digimon have it until Savers.

Jou brings it up later where he says he is not strong enough and there is no way Gomamon will become his Ultimate level. It has to do with the human-digimon partner bond perhaps.

I think CG sequences are only used on the leaders of the show. Sometimes it works nicely like in 02, but in Tamers, Renamon's animated evolutions were far better than Guilmon's and Terriermon's CGs.

IIRC I think she was at least a little sad of Togemon being like that, but maybe im not remembering correctly. This is from the spanish dub that is a translation of the japanese script, so I suppose that if I was remembering well, japanese Mimi does the same.

This is something that bugs me. Taomon and Sakuyamon's evolutions are so much better than the other two it's not even funny. Especially SaintGalgomon, ugh.

I just saw that episodes a few days ago and Lilimon says the same quote in the japanese dub, however if I remember correctly it was just pointing back at the fact that earlier in the episode Mimi says that Palmon's disguise to hide from humans is in bad taste, clothing-style. I don't remember Mimi ever being sad about Togemon's appearance in the original (though she does comment that Lilimon is beautiful, yes).

One thing the dub does right over the original is that the Digimon change their voice when they evolve. Hearing WarGreymon still has that "Agumon" voice feels really... awkward.

With that said I have no qualms with how Xros Wars handled it, since a) Shoutmon's VA (who is the same VA as Adventure Agumon, Chika Sakamoto, who also did other roles like Kappei from SRW version of Zambot 3) sounded more "teenager" and "deeper" so him evolving with the same voice is fine (I joked that Shoutmon's voice is WARGREYMON tier! Chika uses what she used for WarGreymon to Shoutmon!) and b) I imagine when they Xros, they all looked like in some cockpit giving orders rather than "aging temporarily".

Nothing confirmed so far, but there is a chance that Royal Knights will play a role in this season if Huckmon truly is in it.

Oh god, so much nostalgia watching this again. The Dark Masters arc is so good, there's so much awesome character development and interaction. Apocalymon is a great villain too, despite only seeing him for a short time, his motivations and mannerisms remind me of the anti spiral from Gurren Lagann. When the kids had to say goodbye to their digimon though it was so sad I teared up, I'll admit it. This makes me want the new series so much more, I hope the whole cast comes back.

Watching this again made me realize though that child Takeru and Hikari > Teen Takeru and Hikari. It also made me really like 02's ending because the kids and the digimon can see each other whenever they want

I always wanted the Tamers digivice. It is probably my favorite design-wise followed by the D-3 (02's). The old-style antennae on the D-3 docks it some points.

I love Holydramon. Pink fluffy dragon is all sorts of awesome. But Ofanimon should be Tailmon's Ultimate.

Speaking of, I wonder if the Ultimate evolutions in the 15th anniversary stuff is pointing towards them appearing in the new season...
