Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 14: Snake... had a hard life

I assume GAF tournaments for the Wii U version have already been planned, but has there been any talk about a Christmas tournament of some kind, maybe with some small prize?
 
I dunno, just because the Japanese game doesn't call his FS "Night Slash" doesn't mean it won't be called that in English. At least I hope so.

Jesus the naming on some of the shit in Smash bothers me. Mostly Pokemon stuff. I refuse to call Pikachu's neutral special anything but Thundershock.

Calling Greninja's FS "Mysterious Ninja" in English would be like calling Pikachu's FS "Dazzling Lightning." In a game full of incredible attention to detail, why not pay homage to actual moves from Pokemon?

All my money will go to mk8 dlc and amiibos so no Christmas tourney for me lol

According to the scans the "N's Castle" stage is actually called the Unova Pokemon League, at least in Japan, which makes sense. Stage layout itself looks exactly like it did in the leak, so had we not gotten videos and the extra pictures this would have been enough to confirm it.

If we didn't get video leak and full out low leaks. I'm very curious how people would reacts to that scan and stage picture.

It's really weird, as Smash is usually faithful to the source material. Giving names to moves of a character like Villager is okay, but to a Pokemon that already has named moves...

It's when you're trying to get back to the stage, you kinda snap directly to the edge when you come close to it, even if your recover move would normally go much further.

Basically it's very bad, and contributes to recovery being a bit too good/easy in Brawl. For some reason they kept it, so this game will probably have the same issue.

An auto-sweetspot is where you automatically grab the ledge during your recovery move.


JediLink posted a thread on smashboards saying that it could be back to like it was in Melee because Shulk didn't auto-sweetspot a ledge during his recovery.
 
I'm going to laugh when the 5 remaining slots in the CSS screen end up being DLC slots like in the recent Mario Kart 8 updates. Except they will be blacked out so you won't even have any idea who the DLC characters are. They'll just be there on the screen blacked out and taunting you :P
 
Not trying to stir up anything but shouldn't the pokken talk go in the other thread? It's already hard enough to stay sane with smash character requests as is.

Greninja's Final Smash starts out with Mat Block, it goes into Acrobatics (the mirror image zooming around), and it ends with Night Slash. It doesn't consist of one single Pokémon attack, so what difference does the name make?

It seems the concept of a pleasant surprise is foreign to some of you. However, I would like to take this moment to thank georly for actually respecting what I had to say. if I'm not paying attention to Hyrule Warrior news since it's almost out and one might as well leave some of the game as a surprise I'd have no idea what is a secret in the game vs DLC. The original post gave no indication is was DLC so please tell me how I was supposed to know that? Also note I wasn't the only one to think it was a spoiler.

Cool easter eggs appeal to me far more than story so yeah this is the kind of thing I like to avoid if possible which is usually pretty simple by not going into threads about the subject (unlike balladofwindfishes ridiculous logic of stay off the world wide web).

From what I understand, you really should, the new levels are supposed to be great. I think I might've heard some are JP-only, though. I doubt the eReader is region locked (though it could be), but I really want to play all these extra levels. BTW, funnily enough I loved the autoscrollers, especially the Sun levels which was ostensibly autoscrollers but without the waiting, and the airships.

Take a picture of N's castle from the DS game, paint on a stage, overlay some characters and then heavily reduce the resolution and add blur to reduce any obvious errors and you have a really convincing fake, could easily be made in minutes.

Hopefully autosweetspot is gone, but I wouldn't count on it. That's a good point though, I hadn't really thought about it. Basically in the leaked video Shulk's up-B doesn't grab the edge until it's done.

Having a giggle is not the same as being condescending. Ridley is too big for smash is a classic Smash meme. If one can't have fun with it then that's ones own loss.

Yeah those kinds of things bother me slightly. I guess it's only really an issue with RPG characters and others whose moves are named in source material.

Also where is Jedi? I haven't seen him/her for awhile.

Makes me remember when everyone signed up for a tournament in a past thread, before we knew about the release date.

I would have added Black Shadow for the Captain Clone but since Ganondorf is basically confirmed as he once was I figured I'd clone up my 2nd favorite F-Zero character with Ike. Ike's sword play is a little more wild in a way that somewhat reminds me of the crappy scene Goroh had in GX swinging his sword like an idiot. So Ike.

As for K Rool, he can suck things up with his Blunderbuss like Dedede inhales. Rool shoots cannon balls and spiked cannon balls like Dedede throws Gordos. They both jump super high to stomp on enemies and both can fly. Well K Rool uses his stupid copter back.

It's only a few things that makes them somewhat similar but even with all his gadgets I never looked at K Rool as anything special. I think his design is just so lame and generic. Big fat leader... Where as other Kremlings just look super cool and imaginative to me. His pirate getup is pretty cool but other than that I don't think he's interesting. I put him on my list because I know others want him bad. His body type is that of Dedede and Bowser. Dixie shares no body type with anyone playable! 1 giant extra super arm on her head like Midna with whimsical whip like propellor attacks. It's completely subjective but I look at her has soooo much more unique than K Rool.

Yeah, Triple finish and Puff up aren't exactly moves in the games anyway.

I was thinking of doing one when the WiiU version releases seeing as I'd be able to record or stream all the matches and give it a cash prize/steam key/eshop code out of my own pocket.

Though I don't think you should be obligated to donate a prize. Glory is enough. And having a buy-in seems like more trouble than it's worth. Would just be cool to have it recorded/streamed.

Though we're all gonna hate looking back at the vids. We'll be both inexperience and playing laggy Internet matches, so it'll probably be ugly most of the way.

I'm planning on using as much of my income as is reasonably possible to grow my local scene so 30 quid for a one time thing isn't that much.

Also if it's laggy I can always save the replay and record that, unless the replays have lag as well? Never used that feature.
