Hey, don't know if it's been brought up, but Famitsu covered the Pokemon this week.

We see N's Castle, and it matches up with the picture seen in the Stage Select Leak!

As mentioned, even if we assumed that the leaked roster list is final, that's ~12 characters, 4 of which are newcomers, that Nintendo hadn't mentioned - and apparently anticipated that such information would remain hidden until the game was just days away from release. That's fairly naive.

Leaks occur and garner attention because people are desperate for information. Nintendo could have had it both ways - they could have given us a Direct a few weeks ago to properly reveal a few of the newcomers, and Sakurai could have been updating us on a few returning veterans - and they still could have left numerous characters hidden.

I figure that they planned to save them for people to find out about when the game releases, like G&W and R.O.B. were for a majority of people.

And when I think about it, a majority of people buying Smash this holiday season probably won't even know about any leaks.

Capcom - Leon S. Kennedy
Bandai Namco - Ivy

Bayonetta: I feel like Bayonetta would be a great character for Smash, Platinum makes some of the best games and I'd love to see one of their characters in Smash.

Phoenix Wright: Man this would be SO PERFECT. I remember seeing a video of a generic 3d model that showed an hypothetical moveset for Phoenix in smash, it was great, stuff like desk slam as down B, and (step)ladder as Up B. Wish I could find it. PLUS IMAGINE ALL THE ACE ATTORNEY MUSIC

Don't know: I love Tekken and I like Soul Calibur, but I can't really think of a character from those games that'd would translate well for smash, maybe someone from Tales? Never played Tales Of anyways, Lloyd, maybe?

Ms Pac Man I guess. No, wait! That dude from soul calibur who's like a flesh monster. I like him.
 
I have been checking /v/ periodically to see if anything new is leaking and I can't stay there for more than it takes to quickly check because everybody there is a terrorist. What a nightmare, remember when /b/ was the bad board?

I see a lot of people posting the same stuff over and over for these companies, and I hope these provide some interesting alternatives to the typical suggestions. I think these are maybe closer to the kind of thing Sakurai might pick if he was given free reign with those companies.

Alex Kidd, because he has a pretty big potential moveset and he feels like the sort of Sega character Sakurai would love to make a moveset for. Paper, rock, scissors. You can't win.

Viewtiful Joe, because he was a very highly promoted Gamecube exclusive (even if that changed later on) and has a history in fighting games but never felt at home in them. His own game plays much closer to Smash, and he would translate incredibly well.

And for Bandai-Namco, well. We have a Namco rep. So let's get a Bandai rep! Agumon can rep the Digimon franchise as it faces off against Pokemon in a video game for the first time. Considering the Digimon franchise started as an LCD game before translating itself into anime, manga, and all sorts of other stuff, it makes a strong parallel for Pokemon in the same sort of way Sonic provides a 3rd party parallel for Mario from back in the day.
 
We'll go two-for-two for Sega and Namco-Bandai.

In regards to a direct, it's probable that Sak and the dev team is simply too busy, or has been. Heck, we don't know for sure if the game has gone gold yet.

Super late, but sure I'll try my hand at this.

3 Newcomers:
- Banjo & Kazooie (3rd party obviously)
- Splatoon Girl
- Waddle Dee (Spear power like Kirby Return to Dreamland)

3 Clones:
- Knuckles (Sonic clone)
- Impa (Sheik clone)
- Flygon (Charizard clone, change flamethrower to dragonbreath)

3 Veterans:
- Mewtwo
- Snake...
- Wolf

Out of the blue, they gave me Monday and Tuesday off work, so I'd get my hype through the roof if they were to schedule a day in those days. Please, Nintendo...
 
Bring in the Kamiya character that didn't appear on a Nintendo system until a worse port a generation later but not the one from a Nintendo-published game. Makes sense.

The Roy Koopa image that's with the rest of the "leaked" images proves this fake. The model is just so poorly made, & he lacks a Clown Car, as one of the main rumors (& later evidence) suggests that he's one of the alts for Bowser Jr.
