Pic of the day. Customize your characters in the Custom section. It sounded better to customize "characters" instead of "fighters," so that's what we went with. There are various ways to customize, but make sure you remember to set up the powers you're bringing with you before playing a round of Smash Run.
I hope I don't have to transfer my customized character every time to my Wii U. Let me do it once and then let it stay there until I transfer it back.
I wonder if the customized character can only exist on either the Wii U or 3DS. If it existed on both what happens when you make progress in the two games from the same level 3 character? With the 3DS version going to 4 and the Wii U to 5. Would there be a way to fuse them back together?

Again...I don't understand this. Prior to tonight, Sakurai has mentioned Smash Run in the pic of the day only two times in the last two months. Why do people act like he's always posting about Smash Run?¯_(ツ_/¯

I just hope it's not something dumb like you can only have one Mario customisation because you have to go to a separate screen.
Maybe in the 3DS version that's not that big a deal, but it's gonna hinder custom moves usability in the Wii U version if that's the case.

I think its that when they showed 3DS footage it was primarily Smash Run and most of the marketing so far has been related to it (IE every time Reggie brought up Smash for 3ds at E3 he talked about Smash Run)
Sadly, it seems new music samples get added every second day.
Don't get your hopes up.
If you are up late I suggest going to bed.
I suspect that the music page will not be updated today. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays seem to be the pattern. Of course its early days so who knows.

I reaaaally hope that by 'other ways to customize', he means, other customization routes, because I don't wanna have to go to another screen and futz around with it just to change a few specials. At the very least, I hope you'll be able to assign customizations to nicknames.
Er.... I think you just saw the words Smash Run in my post and misread it. My complaint isn't even about that. I just want the mystery to selecting Miis to be answered. Sakurai mentions bring them into a mode (in this case coincidentally Smash Run) and just leaves it at that. So close and yet so far.

Well, it is a huge new mode... Of course they're going to talk about it a lot. And there are still plenty if things about it that we don't know. People act like an update on Smash Run equals nothing at all. That's silly. But it's sillier that people seem to think that Sakurai's always talking about it in the pic of the day, because he really isn't. The whole "it's gonna be Smash Run again" thing that's been going on the past week or so while waiting for the pic of the day is just stupid. >.>

Those are just the ones from the site, but still nice to see them getting some coverage!

Interesting that costume outfits also will have special effects on the game-mechanics. There could be an interesting system going on. It makes it even more sad, if you can't use them online against strangers and see the different effects of them.

Old post, but just wanted to quote it to say that this is how I've felt from the start. I won't be unhappy if it's true, but I'm going to hope for Ridley till hope is gone.
They've already confirmed it, the remaining characters are probably secret characters or something and have no trailer planned for them.
