Whoa...

What am I "whoaing" at?

Everyone lost hype.

Honestly, a huge portion of mine is gone with Lucas basically being cut. I only really am following the game on the off chance the 5 extra characters theory is true and hoping he's in there. Once he gets fully deconfirmed I'll probably be done until the Wii U version. Hopefully by that time I'll be able to hype myself up again for a Lucas-less roster.

Spoiling ourselves comes to bite us in the ass, I'd have considered this the first subpar update of the week if the leak hadn't happened, and even then I could appreciate the previous two, when you think of it it's awesome that the supposedly "inferior"3DS version is gonna have Spectator mode, Sakurai and his team are wizards! Plus I was always a sucker for Challenges, seeing its return made me very very happy.

I wonder if there are actually enough menus to cover us until the Japanese release.
Well based of things we know from previous Smash titles, some things left are:
Options
Vs mode - Special Smash - Smash modes (stock, time, coin, bonus)
Training
Masterpieces
Vault
All-Star Mode

Italics for unlikely things.

Then there's stuff that new like two modes he has teased before - a trophy gathering mode briefly mentioned in a PotD and that spinning tops mode.

Interesting that costume outfits also will have special effects on the game-mechanics. There could be an interesting system going on. It makes it even more sad, if you can't use them online against strangers and see the different effects of them.

Actually, no, they don't. I was just saying that Equipment (which changes your stats) are separated from outfits and headgear, which change your appearance. I was worried they'd be one and the same, which would outfits a balance issue.

All right, well... you guys know I'm liable to find just about any PotD interesting or worthwhile, but even I'll admit this one's a little dull, leak or no leak.

But this does continue the week of all 3DS menu pics, so maybe my theory will prove correct and we'll get a look at the starting roster tomorrow! That'd be awesome.

Fuck, so one more week of this at least.

I'll be in my bunker.

I didn't know before, that there were signs of special-effects since the beginning. I said outfits and actually meant equipment. I totally, forgot that equipment changes the attributes and not outfits.

I haven't seen the Bowser Jr. clip in a bit, but I could never tell if the Koopa Car is hovering when he's moving on the ground or if it has feet.

Looking at it again, I can sort of see the feet as well. It'd explain its odd gait, at least - though I'm not so sure it'd mesh well with its overall design...

So I'm assuming we'll have another smash related Direct for sept right?

Should we expect the final new comer reveal video for then?

If so when would that be?

Mii has to be the least exciting newcomer imo. It's just a random moveset with no relation to any games.

It's you vs. iconic Nintendo characters. That's pretty damn exciting. Though at the mo' I'm pretty conflicted between a swordsman and a fighter. I love fighting irl, but I like swords in games...

It's a Smash Mii. Miis adapt to the games they're in. They reference the idea behind Miis rather than being a reference to say the Wii X series.

This is the best way.

I'm sure Mii will actually be fun to play as when I try them, I think I just prefer playing as established characters than as myself.

Yeah for escapism!

Though as in Tomodachi Life, a large part of the Mii's appeal is in recreating established characters from other properties. Especially with the outfits and hats, it'll be interesting to see what people will make.
Aside from the thousands of inevitable Naruto and Goku cosplays, that is.

So - let's entertain the thought that the leaked roster is final, and those 5 slots will stay empty in the game.

However, there will be a DLC character pack, with 9 characters - 3 newcomers, 3 new clones and 3 veterans. Which would you choose to fill it?

Also, characters which are already stage bosses / hazards and assist trophies are ineligible.

Wonder Red (Wonderful 101)
Captain Rainbow
Inkling (Splatoon)

Dixie Kong (Diddy Kong)
Impa (Sheik)
Blood Falcon (Cpt. Falcon, with Ganondorf being reimagined)

Ice Climbers
Wolf
Lucas
