PAL Charts - Week 34, 2014

found it, France Gamecube sales through 2004

Gamecube was at 1.07m LTD at the time, somehow N64 is only 1.01m LTD, GBA is 2.6m

equivalent time period for Wii U (32 months, including 3 holidays) is June 2015, but since Wii U launch was November 30th over there I'll even give it an extra month to July 2015 (not that it matters)

edit: oh and all 6th gen consoles+GBA (did the GBA only take off in America? 3DS should pass that total in Germany AND France by the time its 4th year is up) as of November 2005 in Germany
PS2=~3.3m, Gamecube=750-800k, Xbox=~600k, GBA=2.5-2.6m

edit: another one cause why not, Xbox at 1.7m in UK by....August 2004? (source isn't clear)

as in 3DS hardware (and presumably software) sales are higher in France, while Wii U sales are effectively at parity (France might be a little higher, but not by much)

Ah, got it. Probably, 3DS French sales are affected by how France is open to Japanese content, thus resulting in better sales overall.

Ah, right, since we have some numbers now...

Tomodachi Life in the West so far

USA (Retail + Digital) - 260,000 up to end of July 2014
Germany (Retail Only)- 100,000 up to August
Italy (Retail Only) - 10,000 in its first two weeks

Total known - 370,000

This is probably destined to become a million seller just in the West already this year. I'm actually wondering how far it can go: European charts show that it's still selling great, high everywhere, at least. Even in UK, where it had the slowest debut, but now it's top 10 at minimum (like last week, and mainly due to lots of new releases at the top). It reminds me of lots of Touch Generation titles: slower starts than big AAA games, but steady sales, and they continue for a long time. Let's see how it'll do after Summer.

Dont think Germany is so different in japanese appreciation than France. I even think that I read somewhere, that historically, Spain was the biggest Japanese Media Fanbase prior to the 2000's

New UK charts. TLoU back on top, so Metro sort of bomba I guess?

Deep Silver/Koch Media celebrate their first No1 of the year.

It's their first since Saints Row IV took 4 weeks at No1 over weeks 34-37, 2013, thanks to 4A Games’ ‘Metro Redux’, bringing together definitive next-gen iterations of Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Activision’s ‘Diablo III Reaper of Souls Ultimate Evil Edition’ (-59%) drops to No2 and Sony’s ‘The Last of Us: Remastered’ (-21%) drops one place to No3.

Also down one place is EA’s ‘Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare’ at No4 (-10%) whilst Activision hold steady at No5 with ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ (+13%). The only other new entry within the Top 40 is EA’s ‘Madden NFL 15’ debuting at No6, one place higher than the debut postion of last year’s ‘Madden NFL 25’ (week 35-2013 for 360/PS3 versions – PS4/XO versions debuted later in the year).

Its pretty bad that TLoU is back on top with ~11k. Good for it, but quite the doldrums for the general industry. Obviously Destiny will be massive in a couple weeks but the lulls in between the huge releases is getting ridiculous.

A very slow week, indeed. Next week's number are going to be even worse but then....

...pretty must constant fireworks for rest of the year. Can't wait as a sales geek.

Well it's transition year. Next summer should be better hopefully.

This reminds me that Yoshida mentioned that TLOU remastered is over million worldwide in pre TGS conference. Should not surprise anyone though when it's over 140k in UK alone.

Well amazon fucked up around here around Manchester. A group us pre ordered Metro due it being £25 and out of 10 is none have got a copy. Amazon has them in stock selling for £32 but our preorders don't have dispatch dates anymore like they cancelled it.

Tempted just cancel it and go asda can use vouchers for £27

I didn't know that, thanks!

Insidebullshit once again proven wrong. They announced (made up) it had sold over 1.5 million units in its first 24 hours. Hopefully that site won't be mentioned again in a sales thread.

Try their online chat, their customer service is usually pretty good. I would ask them to dispatch it with next day delivery for the inconvenience.

It was not an announcement of exact sales figures. Yoshida just said that all WWS first party titles so far on PS4 (KZ:SF, Knack, I:SS and TLoU) have all sold 1M+ units.

But you just did D:

They apparently have no stock although you can buy it for £32 instead the £25 I pre orders
