Give me your % odds on if you think this could happen:

  • Japan-exclusive Nintendo direct tomorrow has smash info. No NOA direct at all.
  • NOA presents the same info, live, at PAX Prime

If the media summit at PAX is closed to the public, hopefully we'll see someone leaking what was there via 4chan or something so that they can remain anonymous.

Unless the security there is really tight and nobody can get any photos as evidence.
 
I don't see why this is such a big deal. When the leak first came out, there were good reasons to think it was real, and good reasons to think it was fake. It turned out to be real, but given the limited information we had in the beginning, it could have gone either way. Something similar can be said for Ridley.

Percents are arbitrary, but Im confident NOA will have new Smash info at PAX.

Even if Sakurai had intended for the shadow to just be a teaser for Ridley's role as a stage boss, he still has to have noticed the reaction it caused and that it just fueled people's expectations for him to be a playable character even more. 4. Every other character that has been ambiguously 'revealed' so far has ended up playable. Dark Pit showing up at the end of the Palutena trailer. Mr. Game & Watch.

5. Lastly, I'm don't think any of us are saying Ridley is definitely in. We're just saying there's a chance, and I think it's silly to be so confident that he isn't in the game, given there is NO CLEAR EVIDENCE. Your evidence for him not being in the game is that it was heavily implied he was a boss. That isn't proof.

Yes, it was her stream! (Bad memory here) :3 It is pretty strange, but we possibly have crossed paths on here before without noticing. Haha.

My main? Hmm. I'd end up with Falco for character loyalty. But! From the new characters.. Mega Man, definitely! My interests are Rosalina & Luma, Little Mac, and Pit with his new changes. ^^ What about you? :0

It's a venue with many eyes watching; hopefully they won't just be content to say "hey, come play a demo! Buy it when it comes out!" and leave it at that.

With that said, here's hoping tomorrow's site gets that nice newcomer tease banner like the one that brought Robin to our official attention.

I wouldn't because people expected to see something new for Smash at Comic Con, do what happened? We got nothing for Smash related so I would imagine same thing at PAX. If Press event members are allowed to report the news then it's something that we can get.

Lol I'm shallow because I think links model is ugly? I'm not deciding whether or not he's a good person because of his eyebrows. Man has never looked this ugly in the modern era. What's wrong with it is he looks bad.

Ah, I see. Really wish there was some indication of a Smash update tomorrow. A reveal trailer for Bowser Jr./Koopalings would really hit the spot, and would probably be enough hype fuel for me to singlehandedly carry us to OT15 over the weekend.
 
Hey Ash, if you see cool new secret stuff at pax that you're not allowed to talk about, please give us a code/hint if that's the case.

Say something like

"Hey guys, nothing to see at pax regarding smash bros!" so we know :)

Don't say 'nothing new', say 'nothing to see' if there was indeed something new. If there was actually nothing new, say 'nothing new'
 
I just want that Shulk reveal trailer. He pretty much needs one since he's the one guy where even Nintendo-knowledgeable people will have no idea who the hell he is when they get the game, lol.

They have a new build for PAX, and they're having a closed door demo. PAX is a huge gaming convention and Smash is launching in about a month in the US.

Chances are pretty good they'll say something.

I think there will be at least some info on Smash tomorrow. After all, unless they're going to have another, Smash-oriented Direct very soon, the 3DS version comes out in Japan in a matter of almost two weeks.

Might as well get the last bit of fuel for the hype train up to release primed, somehow.

I'm hopeful that we would get Smash Direct announcement tmw morning because this thread wouldn't survive any longer with a lot of tensions around here.

We've never gotten new Smash Bros. info without Sakurai's involvement. There might be a new playable build at PAX, but I doubt there will be a newcomer trailer or anything like that.

If NOA announces anything at pax, it'll just be a reiteration of something said on the direct that morning, would be my guess. Maybe NOA didn't have time to localize the direct because of PAX, so they decided to just show it at pax.

Unlikely, but it's a possibility? :p

So true. The leaked list I have shown all of my friends who are pretty knowledgeable gamers for the most part. Had no clue who "the guy at the bottom left" was.
 
JP Direct announces Lucas is only in the JP version.

That's why he wasn't in the ESRB Build.
 
If Ice Climbers really are cut, then fuck the 3DS version sooo hard. I've been a stark defender of the 3DS version, but if they really are cut, then it'll be the first time where I truly feel like Smash 4 is being held back by the 3DS.

Them getting cut wouldn't necessarily be the 3DS's fault, so I'd wait for word from Sakurai about that.
 
So apparently the Smash 3DS closed media event is taking place tomorrow from 2-6pm (PST), so if Nintendo allows it and we don't have to sign any crazy NDAs, expect info starting around then.

Of course, if Nintendo embargoes everything we play and see there, then don't expect anything tomorrow... not from me, anyway. :P

Hopefully Nintendo doesn't embargo the event or make us sign NDAs, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did, even more so now given the recent leak.

Also, I still think there's a decent chance we could get a screenshot of the starting roster for tonight's PotD. With this whole week being dedicated to 3DS menu shots, it'd make a lot of sense.

Remember, Ash, should you be embargoed, you can always accidentally trip, fall, click on my name, click on Private Message, spill all of the secrets into a neatly written and formatted message, and click Send, all by accident. I'll keep it secret, so no worries, should you trip and fall, and gravity affect you so.

I think its not because of the 3DS hardware

They are very similar to Rosalina and Luma.. two characters with individual damage variables / hitboxes, and both react to the same inputs..

Well, you probably shouldn't. I mean, it could literally be that we get to play the final build and the roster is the same as we've seen, but I wouldn't be able to say anything even about that. So... don't necessarily take silence as a sign of something substantial! All it really means is we're not allowed to talk about what we saw and played yet, whatever it ends up being.
