PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

How were you able to check? or did you check before the maintenance?

I'm just super upset because I'm home sick, and planned on remote playing Diablo 3 from bed.

I dunno, when I set my PS4 up for the first time I logged into my PS3/Vita PSN account and during the PS4 setup it asked me if I wanted to set the console as primary. The options were pretty much just "yes" or "no" with no option to skip the step or anything. There was a thread recently with someone complaining of similar issues and people in the thread confirmed it was a mandatory step present in setting up a new PS4 from the first firmware at launch until now. I have no idea how you didn't get that setup step when you set yours up.

But yea, it doesn't automatically set a system as primary but it should ask you "yes" or "no" on first setup, sucks that yours didn't get set this way. It doesn't automatically set it as primary because of offline setup and multiple PS4s and other options. Asking you is fine, as long as it actually asks and you get the step.

Under Settings> Accounts> something I think ,this article has specifics: https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5059/~/activate-/-deactivate-primary-ps4

There's just a big Activate button you press, no fuss. Probably won't work until maintenance is done of course.

That option doesn't seem to tell you if your console has already been activated, though.

If the step is mandatory, then I definitely made my PS4 my primary console when I set up my old account on it. And if that's the case, then why the fuck can't I play Diablo right now? Isn't the DRM supposed to allow infinite offline play for my games on my primary console?

Don't taunt me like that! A reply from the developer to someone on the PS Blog post announcing Dust: An Elysian Tail for PS4:

Thanks! While I’m only announcing PS4 right now, I love my Vita, and personally hope to have some good news sometime in the future.

Make it happen!

Edit: Also this stupid hospital internet is getting really frustrating. Newest development is that it totally messes up the formatting of the Playstation Blog. Chill out hospital, I'm not violating any HIPAA regulations by visiting a video game blog god.

I've seen the Dust developer post a lot on different boards about the Vita, and he isn't lying. I would be shocked if it doesn't come eventually unless there are complications.

Konami released Tag Force 5 digitally for Europe a couple months ago. But they made the game only compatible for the PSP -_- (Why Konami. Why :X. Make the game compatible for the Vita :( ).

imo: Tag Force 1-3 were the only good ones. Not sure why they got rid of good features (mainly the persistent storyline and time progression)

Really wish we'd get a game that lets you tag duel Co-Op vs. AI, it's such a frustrating exclusion (single player tag duel vs. AI and multiplayer VS only, I think)

Surprised Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories (PS1) isn't on PSN, actually. It has a unique ruleset and the storyline takes place from Atem's perspective IIRC.

Hmm.. I'm really curious to see how Unfinished Swan turns out on the Vita. Hope it doesn't end up being a sub-native mess.

Edit: That PS4 kart racer thread got me thinking - "Danganronpa MonoKart Racer Extreme!" needs to happen.
Edit2: That PSASBR thread got me thinking - Monokuma could make an excellent fighter if there were another PS mascot brawler.

Is it normal for the Vita to take an age when deleting something? I felt like I just sat here for 10 minutes while it deleted Destiny of Spirits.

I have definitely had that happen from time to time. Small games, large games, happens on both. Just have to let it do its thing and cross the fingers.

Certain games just take a really long time to delete. I know for sure Destiny of Spirits and Ys Celceta take goddamn forever. It's apparently normal.

I'm happy with having any card game on the Vita.

So... Spelunky or Guacamelee? I'm thinking Spelunky will be on sale soon and that discount for the later is... okay?

I know others have already mentioned this, but that was an absolutely nuts amount of games announced for the Vita today on the blog. Its been a long while since I was even barely able to keep up with releases, and the saddest thing about reading those five posts was knowing I won't have time to play all of them!

As much as I'd have liked to end the day thinking Dust was coming over too, Alone with You is really tickling my fancy...

Is the 'Top Downloads' section on the Vita even correct? It seems like it hasn't changed in months.

It hasn't been updated since February or March.

it was confirmed long time ago, like a month or so

No, it was only announced for PS4: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/08/12/journey-and-the-unfinished-swan-coming-to-ps4/ That PAX post is wrong.

That's not on Konami. It's SCEE.

Forbidden Memories is jank. That game is better left forgotten, especially for the waste of time first duel that you can't win.

well it could be all wrong

Why are the authentication servers still down? dayum.

Why do they have to completely shut down that service for maintenance? I seriously think they invest in redundancy or maybe share the authentication workload with their PSN sign in servers for times like these when they shutdown the main auth servers. I mean, I'm already signed ON PSN yet they are good for nothing to authenticate my licenses.

this has been my biggest adjustment since moving from mainly Xbox to mainly playstation this gen. I never remember having so many instances of service outages. Feels very amature for such a major company

I imagine it hasn't aged well, but it has unique gameplay (in its strange free fusion ruleset) and I love the setting/atmosphere in it. It would probably be my favorite YGO game if I didn't have such a hard time memorizing the combinations. Being able to summon the strongest monsters by fusing weak commons together is a cool mechanic, as is being able to discard your entire hand for a new one. AI abusing elemental advantage stunk, though, as did the forced three wins in a row part of the game I got stuck on as a kid.

While it is a scripted loss, you can win, apparently. I'm still surprised that the entire first segment of the game can be skipped by staying home when you're asked to, as well as an optional duel you can miss out on if you don't visit back before the night is over..

So I'm somewhat addicted to Rogue Legacy on my Vita. Question though, can I listen to my own music while playing it? I know you can for most games but not sure if you can with all.

I've tried a couple of times to do just that and it always just pauses the song when I go back into the game and upon pressing and holding the PS button the music control is greyed out

I take it that means I can't?

I have $40 psn space bucks and I'm considering a few purchases once maintenance is finished up:

Hohokum
Rogue Legacy
Surgeon Simulator
CounterSpy
The Swapper
And First Light

What do you think guys?

Seems like most of the games have their pros and cons so I thought I'd ask for a few gaf opinions. I watched the Giant Bomb Surgeon SIM video and thought it looked hilarious especially after a few drinks with some friends.

Probably not helpful in your case, but you can use a male to male audio cable to plug the Vita into the Line-In port on your PC/laptop, and then listen to anything you want with the game audio playing through.

Personally I've always wondered if there was a software solution for pushing two audio sources to the left and right channels respectively. So you'd hear each source in one ear instead of mixing them together.

That's actually a neat idea and I do sit in front of my laptop quite often while playing my vita

I just tested out Terraria and understand the music controls now so clearly Rogue Legacy doesn't support custom music at all :\

Ah well

i must hear your opinion on Duelist of the Roses

Does anybody know when the $10 from buying the 4 summer games will hit? Haven't really been following it much and just remembered I should be getting $10 back.
