Final Fantasy Type-0 HD impressions at PAX

80% percent done what?! This is not the SE I've known.. I demand my money back
Again, this is just one HD remaster+ of a PSP game. They've been efficiently remastering one of the most technically advanced PS2 games, KHII, and a PSP game, BBS, + making a movie out of ReCoded for KH2.5 HD ReMix (with a small team that is also participating in developing KHIII without the remaster affecting KHIII's development too much) and it's only taking them 1,5 years. I don't see what's so surprising that they can remaster a PSP game in less than that, even if they do a bit more to brush up its visuals than the KH remasters..

Sad a PS4 isn't anywhere near being in my future.

Glad to hear it possibly won't be too long till we in the west get it though.
I was planning to buy one after a price cut or redesign, but I'll get one as soon as Revelations 2 or Type-0 HD drops. I can survive Bloodborne.

Was this game well received in japan? I been waiting for it a long time but after never hearing any news of a release in NA I didn't pay attention to it

if lack of release news makes you not care about things
why do you have a final fantasy xv avatar

As for reception, some people love and some people think it's janky. It's considered to be the best game out of the Fabula Nova Crystallis thing, but the competition isn't exactly fierce.

I just hope it's more then a up port of sorts. At the very least if all goes well for SE, the PS4/X1 will have 3 SE RPG's to look forward to?

Please be excited.

The way it seems Typo-0 Q2/Q3 2015 > FFXV Q1/Q2 2016 > KH3 sometime in 2017 of course this is just wishful thinking on my end.

Don't even care how the game will look to be honest. Big screen + interesting mature story + fast paced gameplay is all I need.

You're probably one of the few gaffers who still have some faith in them I applaud that. My lack of faith and skepticism with SE is at an all-time high.. So when they do something competent which is rare I see it with disbelief, considering there was going to be a more constant flow of FFXV info.. Mind you it's been a year so yea lol

Square had a level of mastery with the PSP hardware that was unmatched.

This. It really is sad that SE didn't embrace the Vita, I can only imagine what they could've done with it.

PS: Is that Mami Sasazaki in your avatar? If so, I commend you good sir.

I hear the game is so mature that there's a creepy voyeur mode where you can spy on a sexy female character in her room taking her clothes off.

On a scale from FF13 to Chrono Trigger, how good is this game?

Should I keep my eye on it?

The best way to gauge is this: did you enjoy the gameplay aspects of Crisis Core? If yes, you have every reason to expect this game to be an expansion on those and to be pretty good about it. If no, then you're less likely to fall head over heels for it.

I wrote a post about what I felt newcomers might expect going into it a little while back.

Speaking as someone who loved the game and as someone whose hype for Bravely Default chilled partway through that, though, it is best if you keep your expectations for this game in check.

Well peace walker had Paz in bras and panties and not to mention the love box with snake, seems legit "mature themes" according to japan lol

I don't know about the mature part. Sure there's a lot of violence and an attempt at a gritty tone, but really nothing about Type 0 said mature to me. They seem to be using "mature" as a sign of quality and that's a no no.It's still FF teen angst and there's honestly nothing wrong with that.

I'm happy that this is coming a long and I do hope the visuals look good enough. They probably won't be able to hide the portable game structure, but there are still lots of changes they could make to the game to make it better(how about all characters level up at the same time).

Took me five playthroughs to figure out how to even start that quest. And it was an irritating money sink. Now, the real quip is this:

Type-0 is so mature and dark that someone took the time to design individual panties for all of the female playable characters.

I think the mature part comes from underlying concepts you may or may not understand and the background by each of the 4 nations.

Yeah, part of me doesn't want to say it's mature because some of it is the same stuff we've been seeing since FF2 "enemy invades yo homeland" but I guess I could see some people being shocked by how much more graphic the portrayal of an enemy invasion of the homeland has become.

In many ways, though, the game seemed to be just a spin on the classics. War for control of the crystals and all that.

Errr... what the heck?

If type 0 is looking like a 2015 game does that mean we won't see XV until 2016?

For the US I think we'll see it hopefully 2016.. Japan maybe Q4 2015. When it comes to FFXV there's always an excuse... I mean hell not even one english trailer in all these years lol.

I think Type-0 will very likely be a Q1 2015 title if it's already 80% done (I would have said Q4 2014 if that 3DS FF game wasn't already releasing then), at least in Japan. FFXV is probably Q4 2015 or Q1 2016. KHIII could be released anytime in Q2-Q4 2016. The dev team has, after all, been working on it from around mid 2012 and we know Osaka Team is a highly efficient studio + they are developing a sequel that Nomura has been building up to for almost a decade, so they should have been able to jump into KHIII's full development fairly efficiently once they got accustomed to PS4Bone development/Luminous Studio. They should be able to push it out in 4-4,5 years, if not even less. They already had an early playable build with big new gameplay features in 2013, that would point out to development advancing well and if they've really got their Crystal Tools shenanigans sorted out with Luminous Studios, I don't see too many (unusual for big productions) problems pushing its development time too much past 4 years or a 2017 release

I want this on PS vita :'(. I'll remote play this on my Vita then, as this game was meant to be played in all its portable gaming glory.

How different will this be (Graphically mainly) comparing with the emulated version on PC?

I would expect that at the very least it has the same level of improvement as Birth by Sleep in the KH2.5 HD Remix. Improved textures, higher quality movies, high resolution UI, etc. There could be camera and control tweaks too. Type-0 also has some sort of online system, which they might either remove, or overhaul to use PSN/XBL like Peace Walker HD did.

The game has really weird continuity in the first hour that I've played. There are just zones where you just beat enemies left and right and then all of a sudden, boss fight.

Hopefully the console version isn't as bite-sized as the PSP game is.

The opening CG with 'What Becomes of Us' playing in the background is exponentially more interesting than anything that the Lightning trilogy has offered, though.

Over or under we get a bone thrown at us at TGS in regards to FFXV ?

They would have had to vastly overhaul the game.
