I'm guessing it's a case of where a lot of people thought about voting for the character, but decided against it because the character was such a shoo-in they were better off giving their votes to their lesser-loved characters. If everyone takes that mentality then you have a shutout.

It's a Nintendo 3DS focused Direct, Smash Bros is one of the biggest games coming out for it this year, and it's available two weeks after the Direct.

It's farfetched, and I don't expect it to happen, but what could happen is a Japanese-language trailer is part of the Direct tomorrow, and then the English-language version is shown hours later at PAX. Site updates with the newcomer on Monday.

...on second thought, having to wait all weekend? That's utterly abnormal. Really not expecting a newcomer now.

I've been there. Was emulating Brawl and was going through a lot to get some characters since I refused to play SSE. But then I luckily found a save online so I didn't have to bother anymore.
Since I didn't want to bother with the cheat engine stuff to unlock all characters.
