Pic of the day. The mysterious fighting teams that appear in the Smash Bros. series come in many shapes and sizes, but this time even we don't know what all of them will look like! It's said that they copy faces from Mii characters saved on your system and attack in a large throng…!! But wait, they all have big smiles on their faces. Looks like they're having a good time, so show no mercy and launch them all away!!

Omg I called it O_o

Wow, pretty god awful week considering how close to launch we are. Even without the leak this week would've been pretty uninformative.

Just like what I predicted. The Mii data access that is :)

Sakurai seems to really believe that any move made to address the concerns of tournament players will immediately result in some design that sends casual players running. Which...just isn't true. It isn't even true of more traditional fighters like Tekken or Street Fighter. There are people who have fun with those games who will never do an EGWF or FADC, just like there were tons of people who loved Melee and couldn't care less about wavedashing.

The guy's stance on this issue is just baffling.

I guess I should make some Mii's to fight against huh?

I haven't even touched the Mii Plaza on my Wii U. Made some funny ones back in the day but the novelty has long worn off lol.

Welp, it's been a week of "meh" menus and Mii PotD's. A PotD week this forgettable is usually followed by something big like a good ol' Smash Direct!

The music section on the site hasn't updated yet. Was there a delay on Monday and Wednesday, or will nothing be uploaded today?

Wow, that's a legitimately disappointing end to the week of PotDs, considering we're now only 10 pics away from the Japanese release.

I wonder if we can also take this as confirmation that nothing of note is happening in the Japanese 3DS Direct or at PAX's Smash 3DS media event tomorrow either... huh.

Hmm, I suppose seeing the Miis I imported from my Wii will be a nostalgic experience. Haven't seen them in a while.

In any case, I can't wait to wake up tomorrow to another round of competitive vs. *casual!

*I can't be the only one who dislikes this term.

We're counting on you for some news!
Hope you have a blast at PAX, man.

I love it when games get Mii's from off your system. It's always a cool feature to see friends, family and fictional characters show up.

I miss the Mii channel. I mean QR codes make searching for individual Mii's much easier but it was cool to see the popular creations based on region.

Not sure if this was posted, but a quote from Sakurai in EDGE:

Veeery interesting. I respect that he actually tried to gear this towards both competitive and casual gaming. I do still disagree with another Melee-type Smash Bros will deter new players from wanting to play.

I really wonder what was going on in Sakurai's developmental process when creating Melee. I heard that he really pushed himself and HAL to get that game out.

Also we're not casualcore or esports now, we Opponent-Based Action Game™ now!

There's been several times where we received a daily update, only for it to be replaced when a Direct or similar press event happens.

Woah, this pic is in HD

That's true, but usually big events are teased in the PotD comment directly before them if something big is going to happen at them. We have four hours until the Japanese 3DS Direct, and considering today's comment made no reference to it, I think it's safe to say no Smash announcements are going to be made during it.

Sakurai: Which reminds me, Shogo Sakai-san did some test play the other day and cleared The Subspace Emissary on the Easy setting.

Iwata: You mean the same Shogo Sakai-san from HAL Laboratory who was in charge of music for Smash Bros. Brawl? I’m guessing the reason you bring him up is because he’s so bad at gaming.

Sakurai: Right. He’s absolutely hopeless. (laughs)

Lol, from the Brawl Iwata Asks. Poor Sakai.
