I wonder if we ever see the other characters in the FS.
Probably not based on the art and various screens showing those guys. But it'd be cool to see the rest of the gang (maybe minus a spoiler character).

Also, for those who didn't hear, the trailers say there are "over 40" characters, which basically confirms that there won't be any super hidden ones (that would make over 50). Sorry Ice Climbers fans!

Yeah, that's the strangest thing about the CSS to me. There's no reason to do that, unless Yoshi's just been folded into the Mario franchise - and then the website is lying to us by keeping his egg icon? I don't get it.

I don't get it either. Especially since just moving Yoshi to last in the Mario line makes so much more sense. Why have him smack-dab in the middle of the Mario franchise when he's supposed to represent his own?

If this is the starting roster they are smart to not lock Pac-Man, Mega Man, and Sonic away. Pac-Man and Mega Man are popular guest characters that people are really going to want to play. It was punishing to have to unlock Sonic and Snake in Brawl.

Would they show the character select screen on the eShop if it's missing some characters? I think at the very least anyone that isn't on it is an unlockable.

I'll get around to it! I don't want to pay that much for it, was excited about the 3DS version until I saw I had to buy a new 3DS to play it.
When they first announced Amiibo they said they would have an addon for the current 3DS to support NFC.

I would think that they would still want to sell the figures to everyone.
So I could see there being a base for older 3DS. hell maybe they could even use the skylanders one.

Agreed, though I would have left a few of the newcomers locked, like Shulk and Robin. It's always more exciting to unlock a brand new character than someone you've played as in the previous games.
I believe they announced an adapter awhile back.

Buying a new 3DS to play it won't probably even be that much more compaired to buy Xenoblades Chronicles for Wii xD
btw: Is it confirmed that you need the new 3DS? I hope they give us a Monado themed new 3DS then at least.

They announced an accessory for that at E3.

I don't think so, going by the art, although it would have been really nice. I thought for sure that Reyn would have been part of the final smash.

About unlockable characters not being the focus of the game, I think that it's due to the Wii U version coming later. If you unlock every character on the 3DS you'll probably have the entire roster on the Wii U in some way. So focusing on unlockables would cut a big part of the Wii U game. I bet that both games have the same way to unlock every character.
