my personal theory was that The Boss dies, but is sent back to Earth (to a new city) to stop a gang war by killing three gangs before he can pass on. At the end, The Boss is sent to Hell, so you kill Satan and take over Hell instead.

This is also how they bring back Dane Vogel and Dex, since they're most certainly in Hell.

Edit: guess that it is also coming to current-gen. Still expecting it to focus on the last-gen systems, which is still disappointing. Also, for the love of god, give us a new city already. Steelport is already overused as a setting.
