Regarding Yoshi's CSS placement:

Nintendo chronology is clearly being emphasized this time around, and each series' reps seem to be in order of when they were introduced in that series. Hence Yoshi (1990) being before Rosalina (2007), or Toon Link (2002) being after Sheik (1998.)

As for Yoshi being "grouped" with Mario characters: I'd find it odd if there were other Yoshi reps like Stork or Shy Guy or something, but it's not much different than how Luigi is grouped there, despite having his own series, too. The confusion seems to stem from Yoshi being given his own icon, I guess?

Makes sense to me. :D

Ha-ha, Nintendo goofed with Ganondorf

On an unrelated note, woo new panel for Puzzle Swap

For what game?

Wow, yes, chronology is consistent for all franchises. Nice catch.

But Jiggly was after Lucario in the leak?

Two music related questions:

Is the soundtrack offer for buying the 3ds and Wii U versions of smash the whole soundtrack or just a sort of best of thing?
If it is the whole thing then I will definitely rethink my decision not to buy Smash 3DS. If not, then I'm still on the fence-ish.

Is the version of You Will Know Our Names in the Shulk trailer arranged or not. I don't think it is, but a couple of sections have me questioning.

I'm thinking that each disc is a best of 3DS or Wii U. Red disc = selection of 3DS songs. Blue disc = selection of Wii U songs.

Are we really expecting a starting roster featuring 36 characters?

That would only leave ~12 to be unlocked.

That would be around the same as Melee and Brawl so it's not that unexpected. I don't really so the point in known unlockables for Smash anyway.

Except Bowser Jr. is after Rosalina, and Jigglypuff is after Lucario.

But doesn't Bowser Jr (before Rosalina) come after Rosalina (after Bowser Jr)?

Bowser Jr in clown car is from NSMB and possibly galaxy, but yes, bowser jr himself is older than rosalina. *shrug*

Spotpass alerted me for a new panel, it's Kirby Fighters Deluxe/Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe. 24 pieces with 4 streetpass only pieces

Oh, cool, that one's been out in japan, good to know.

There's no reason to think that the Japanese preview of the character select screen wouldn't be the starting roster--it's every character we've officially seen yet conspicuously minus Lucina. If they were going to remove the unlockable characters, they would have done so. Our starting roster is 36 including Miis, yes. Not that crazy, considering the starting rosters of previous Smash titles almost matching the total characters of the previous title.

---

Concerning Yoshi, I think the simplest conclusion is that Yoshi, despite having his own series, is still very much so a core Mario cast member, moreso than even the nominal Mario characters Rosalina and Bowser Jr.

Was incredibly busy with college today so I didn't get a chance to comment yet, but I absolutely love how Shulk looked in the trailer! I haven't even gotten that far into Xenoblade yet, but I loved every second of what I saw. The different modes for the Monado looks like Shulk will be a beast in the hands of the right player.

I definitley agree to that.
Even with his own logo he's very much a mario character more so than anything.
Even with his own series.

What if Sakurai is so pissed that that's it? He spitefully took out any remaining unlockables and that's all we have..

36 characters no unlockables D:

Since Sakurai said that Lucina is lucky one so I could imagine that Dark Pit and Dr Mario were lucky as well to fill out the cut characters' spots.

Maybe that would make sense considerating of Gematsu leaks where they said Lucas was debated to be cut or not, and considering to down with DLC path.

Ice Climbers, Lucas, Chorus Kid and Snake were cut. I meant, look at single representative in second from bottom row. It could meant to be for ROB, Ness, Lucas, Cap Falcon, Villager, Wii Fit Trainer (dr Mario), Ice Climbers (Dark Pit) and Chorus Kid (Lucina).

Wolf would push ROB into next row which would make sense to have an entire row of animal-based characters. Yeah, cuts had to happens.

Well it could be argued that Mewtwo could push Dog into next row too but who know.

All speculation here.

It's all speculation.

So it seems our unlockable roster is:

Bowser Jr.
Dr. Mario
Ganondorf
Falco
Jigglypuff
Ness
Lucina
Mr. Game & Watch
Wario
Dark Pit
R.O.B.
Duck Hunt

Seems sizable enough. Melee had eleven unlockable characters, Brawl had fourteen (though two were the third party characters). Pretty normal size, just proportionally smaller than we're used to.

As cool as this would be mechanically, could you imagine the net backlash?

True... It's just a shame that Luigi, Pit, and Lucario are the only ones to get new Final Smashes. :/

The 2 CDs are also red and blue, the two colours for each version. It's safe to say it's the entire soundtrack.

It's not. The JP site has a disclaimer: "Due to legal restrictions, some tracks from the game will not appear on this soundtrack."
