Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 14: Snake... had a hard life

Hahahaha, you guys are crazy! I will probably end up getting some for future Nintendo games like Captain Toad, so I'm intentionally limiting myself for how many I get for Smash.

I plan on not going over 4 or 5 characters in the entire roster, though I haven't really decided who to get aside from a few of my regular characters.

All-Star Mode looks neat...

But wouldn't HE be here?

Where is Zero Suit (she is a separate character now)?

I'm not even going to bother pre-ordering. I plan on playing the game first and seeing who sticks with me before shelling out on their Amiibo.

Not to mention that in the original line up, the only character who I will probably go for at the moment is Donkey Kong who shouldn't be too hard to find in stores. Now if it was Wii Fit Trainer that I was intending to buy, I'd probably want to make a pre-order. :p

The only Amiibos that I can afford are the ones that use the cloaking device.

The fact that some amiibo's look cheaper than others is going to save me buying them all.

Samus is the only first gen one I'll get I think. I would go Marth but he looks funny.

Mario looks the worst imo, though I wouldn't buy him either way. The fire looks like something you'd see on a happy meal toy.

Soooooo... I'm in a bit of a pickle, guys. I really want to keep sharing in the pre-release Smash hype with you all, but I fear everything I say from here on out will come with the huge caveat of me having attended today's media event, making you all suspicious of what I know or don't know.

You guys already know that I can't and won't share anything I might have seen or played from today's event, so there's that. So I guess all I can do is just see how things go for the next day or so, but if I feel like the context of everything I say is being threatened by my having gone to this event or like there's any conflict of interest at all, I'll probably just have to become a ghost until the game launches in Japan. I don't want to do that at all, though, so if ya'll can do me a favor and not ask me about the media event and/or cast everything I say under a light of suspicion, I'd really appreciate it. Rest assured that there are still many things I don't know; I'm very much still just a fan waiitng hungrily for more information, like the rest of you. I don't suddenly "know everything." Either way, all questions directed to me about the media event or just going to go ignored, no matter how vague or "safe" they might be.

Does the NDA last until the game releases, or can you even say?

Hope you enjoy(ed?) the game! I'm so jealous. :)

I can't even say that, sorry. :(

So on the off chance Shulk's trailer was the last one we get before the Japanese launch, what has everyone's favorite newcomer trailer been?

Obviously Little Mac has the best one, but might as well give the others a chance

Mega Man, for many obvious reasons (that others before me have already stated). It was just pure, unadulterated hype, and we had NO IDEA it was coming. God damn.

They've all been pretty damn amazing, though.

Its not the final roster.

You're saying this like you have insider information. Do you?

I find the idea that a whole bunch of people just found out juicy stuff but can't tell us somewhat frustrating, but that must be nothing compared to what they must be feeling: not being able to share/talk about the secret stuff they saw must be a special kind of agony :o

Nailed it.

What did Ash's deleted tweet said?

Nothing interesting, I promise. Just embargo stuff. I'm playing it safe.

Give us the goods Ash.

He's playing as Ridley right now, isn't he.

You know I can't. I love you guys, but I love my job(s) and professional standing just a little bit more. :P

Damn, so many folks set on this being the final roster even though nothing has changed recently.

I am still going with the for trophies hypothesis. I think we will get Ridley, Impa/Demise, Mewtwo, and who knows what the other three will be. Hopefully Ice Climbers.

That's a bit of a stretch.

What's the scoop on the roster?

Can you at least say whether or not you were happy with what you experienced/witnessed?

Having gone to school for journalism, I understand completely. It's an amazing thing to see behind the scenes of stuff, and to report the news- and a part of me wishes I was still doing that.

On that note, I'm jealous you got to play and see some things that I hope are amazingly awesome and unexpected despite the leak.

It's all good. We understand, besides it's only two weeks. I think we can manage until the 13th. I hope what you saw is different from the leaks though, at least with how vets played that we haven't seen or heard of yet.

Psychically beam all images to my mind please and thank you.

Glad you got to go to the event though. Can't wait to talk full roster with ya when the NDA is up.

Blah blah, Ganondorf, blah blah, Smashing, blah blah.

Ash was the event all about Snake? Was it a Snake special?

Totally understandable Ash. You and the guys at GameXplain do a great job and i'd say we should respect your wishes and help you maintain a professional status in gaming journalism.

If anything, if the embargo lifts by the JP release I want to see you guys go nuts with info. lol

Nintendo's watching. He can't say anything unfortunately. We're still clueless. :/
