gonna get mileage out of this gif

Man, that sounds like so much fun! I wish there was an event near me that I could play at, but I guess I'll just have to wait until the release. >_>

Mega Man being weak is something I've heard a lot though, and it's making me sad. ='[

Same :( I was hoping to use him a lot. Could just have a steep learning curve, but it didn't seem like his weaknesses were attributable to my lack of skill or familiarity with the character. He just seemed under powered, not enough strength to be good for close combat, or range attacks, nor is he very speedy. :/

He really isn't weak, though, at least not in my opinion... and I've played as him a lot, much more than any other newcomer.

He simply has a steep learning curve, much like Rosalina. When I first played Rosalina, I was surprised at how weak she felt, until I realized I just hadn't learned to use her properly.

Mega Man has notable shortcomings, to be sure, and I don't think he's going to be a top-tier fighter, but he really can be dangerous once you learn what you have to do with him to be effective. You have to be able to control space really well at all times to do well with Mega Man; one of the most jarring things about him is that you can't simply mash out an A combo or a quick forward smash to clear space in front of you at the drop of a hat like you can with pretty much any other fighter, because his A combo generally doesn't interrupt (kind of like Fox's Blaster), and his forward smash is pretty much worthless unless you charge it at least halfway (but it's devastating when fully charged). His up smash and down smash are always great crowd control options, though, and his dash attack, up tilt, and forward, back, and up air are all beastly. Honestly, his air moves are some of the best in the game IMO. His throw is pretty great too.

With Mega Man, it really is just a matter of learning how to be good with him and sticking with him despite the fact that making him dangerous requires that you adopt playing habits that generally are not native to Smash or any other character in it. In all honestly, I doubt anyone but the most hardcore fans of the character are going to want to put forth the effort that getting good with him will require, simply because it will require a lot more effort than just picking up, say, Little Mac and going to town on everyone.

If we count Gematsu we sort of knew almost everyone

You can throw in Shulk, Pac-Man, Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, MegaMan
It's a shame honestly. In one sense I don't really care about knowing as I'll eventually find out anyway. But I would have loved to just watch the newcomer videos as they arose.

Anyway with all these buffs I'm hoping Jiggly puff returns to her former sleeper hit glory. Why they destroyed her worth in SSBB I have no idea.

So we are all pretty much expecting the Chorus Kids at this point, right? Having a hard time believing Gematsu was off on that one, especially considering the Rhythm Heaven representation in Smash Run.

I just happen to have mutual friends :)

I'm going to the Press Start concert that he and a friend of mine organize every year, and I'll be saying hello to my friend (Shogo Sakai) after the show, so I'll be saying "hello/thanks/I love you" to Sakurai as well :)

Everyone's really pumped! Half the tweets I see are basically "omg I just want to play it right now," haha.

Wow! Hope you have a great time then! I have a good friend who lives in Tokyo and works at a relatively famous sneaker shop there (I forgot the name) and he told me he's talked to customers who are super excited to play. I'm very envious of you guys. lol

Smash on 3DS in Japan is going to be HUGE.

They love their handhelds and their Smash games.

Question, do you guys feel that there are too many sword users in Smash 4?

We have a few, yes, we also have Fox, Falco, Rob, Ness and others who use projectiles, we have some who beat people with punches, nah, we fine.

I think most evidence points towards the leaked roster being the final roster at this point, with no signs of the Chorus Kids.

However, I have a theory about Chorus Kids. If we are to believe that the starting roster does really consist of all currently revealed characters minus Lucina, then that means the Gematsu leak (replacing Chrom with Robin, of course) only revealed the newcomers on the starting roster...except Chorus Kids. We're still waiting on them, and at this point it doesn't look like they'll be on the final roster.

But then why were they mentioned in the Gematsu leak and other leaks? And why didn't the Gematsu leak mention any secret newcomers (Bowser Jr., Duck Hunt, Dark Pit)? I think the Gematsu leak's source had information on the newcomer reveal trailers. If this were the case, and if we're to assume that secret newcomers won't get trailers, then it would make sense for them to be excluded from the Gematsu leak. But then why were Chorus Kids there?

Well, I think the Chorus Kids may be DLC after all. Perhaps a batch of DLC characters was planned ahead of time, and a video was prepared to showcase them, featuring the Chorus Kids as a DLC newcomer. And perhaps that's the reason why there is a Rhythm Heaven enemy in Smash Run; maybe the Rhythm Heaven franchise was represented in the game in smaller, easier-to-implement ways (like with Smash Run enemies) ahead of time to reserve a spot, in a way, for a Rhythm Heaven character and possibly stage as well to be added later via DLC? And if Ice Climbers are DLC as well, this would explain why the Polar Bear is also present in Smash Run.

Of course, this could just be me over analyzing everything and it could mean nothing at all, but I remain hopeful that we'll see Chorus Kids in the game in some way, eventually.

So I'm just gonna say something, and I might be a total idiot to people that know Xenoblade (I am drunk after all)...

The voice at the end of the Shulk Smash trailer totally sounds like that general guy with the awesome mustache at the beginning of Xenoblade. Who I loved in his short time.

Anyway, you can answer however you want, although I'm probably completely off. I haven't even played the game in months, and not much of it.

No don't run. I absolutely agree. For all the people complaining about clones, it is odd. Take off Ness's hat, bleach his hair and you're halfway there.
And the other half would be replacing all of his Smash Attacks, modifying all of his Specials, and changing his aerials.

But yeah, he's like totally the same.

Or maybe Chorus Kids, like Chrom, were never planned as characters at all.
Do we have any proof that Chrom was never planned at all? Sakurai said he considered him, did he not? It wasn't specified whether he was actually planned as a fighter but replaced with Robin or not, and we may never know.

The Gematsu leaker clearly had inside information; to deny that is crazy. Yes, in the end it didn't turn out to be 100% accurate, but surely the leaker had good reason to believe that Chrom and Chorus Kids were to be on the roster, for whatever reason.

And I would find it very odd if Rhythm Heaven had a Smash Run enemy but no playable character or stage or anything else. That's just...odd. No other franchise gets that treatment (unless you count Find Mii, but I consider that an enemy for the Mii Fighters, since they don't really have a franchise of their own), at least from what we've seen so far...except Ice Climber, of course, but that could fall in the same boat. Again, maybe it means nothing...but I don't think Sakurai would throw Sneaky Spirits and Polar Bears in Smash Run without characters from those franchises being in the game, especially not Polar Bears. If Ice Climbers really are cut I'd think Sakurai wouldn't want to keep traces of them in the game like that.

Considered and rejected. Sakurai was pretty clear and gave his reasons.

surely the leaker had good reason to believe that Chrom and Chorus Kids were to be on the roster, for whatever reason.
Or maybe he got a bit of good information and decided to see how much mileage he could stretch out of that, and just made shit up.

But we don't know how soon he was rejected, do we? Perhaps certain things were planned when Chrom was being considered before Sakurai finally decided on Robin instead. After all, we know Sakurai started planning for a "Pokémon from Pokémon X & Y" before Greninja was even decided on. We simply don't know either way.

Hey, guys wondering about 3DS and the CPP:

Smashboard said:
'Any game compatible with the Circle Pad Pro will now just be able to use this new C-stick.' or something like that, so yes, the CPP should be compatible with smash 3DS.

Apparently a guy who understood the Direct said this, so CPP is pretty much in if true.

This is good news.
