I have a bet with a friend, he says Ridley will be in and I say he won't. If I lose I have to play with Peach (the one I want to check the least) against him while he tries every newcomer unlocked.
But if Ridley gets in, I won't consider it losing.

If the eShop roster is the starting roster, yes. Everyone (except Lucina).
Toon Link, Luigi, Lucario, the Third Parties and Palutena surprised me.

Luigi and Toon Link being starters is weird too. Jiggly is now the only character that is unlockable in all games.
Meanwhile, Captain Falcon gets promoted to a starter while his buddy Ness is stuck as an unlockable is something I didn't expect, and Wario being the one returning Brawl starter to be an unlockable this time is...strange. Who would've thought?

Not surprising at all. All revealed Brawl characters pre-release were starters with the exception of Snake and Sonic. If we assume that the eShop image is the starting roster, we get 12 unlockables, 1 more than Melee and 2 less than Brawl. I'm guessing Lucina is unlockable because she was a late clone while Toon Link was probably decided on from the beginning and seems to have more differences.
Maybe I'm a bit strange, but I've always loved taking the time to unlock the characters. Something about that "Challenger Approaching" screen always got me.

As far as getting any more trailers before release goes, I can see it going either way. On one hand, there's still a bunch we've seen in both trailers and the leak that have yet to be officially explained, which could warrant another Smash Direct, almost certainly meaning a newcomer trailer. On the other hand, if these mode explanation PotDs keep up through release, we might not even need a Direct!
I hope we get a Duck Hunt trailer sooner rather than later, though, because the fact that he is a real thing that's happening has yet to properly set in for me.

The image is from the Japanese eShop. The only revealed character that's missing is Lucina and the amount of unlockables is around the same as Melee and Brawl if true.
Japanese eshop screenshots. People assume it's the starting roster because they don't think Sakurai and team would want to show the unlockable characters.
