Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 14: Snake... had a hard life

After looking over the Smash trailers a fear came to mind.

The Green Hill stage is on the 3DS thus only has two tunes. One will very likely be the Green Hill theme. Now one would expect the other to be the only arrangement Sonic got, the Angel Island theme, but Sonic's reveal played Sonic Heroes in the background, another of Brawl's selection.

Good god I fear that song isn't making a come back and taking up one of those precious two slots.

Don't know if anyone else noticed this, but Mechanical Rhythm will be in Smash in some form. In Shulk's trailer, a small snippet of it plays before he says, "This is the Monado's power!" So it looks like there are four Xenoblade tracks so far: Gaur Plain, a rock remix of Gaur Plain, You Will Know Our Names, and Mechanical Rhythm!

The image is from the Japanese eShop. The only revealed character that's missing is Lucina and the amount of unlockables is around the same as Melee and Brawl if true.

Japanese eshop screenshots. People assume it's the starting roster because they don't think Sakurai and team would want to show the unlockable characters.

It's an image for the eShop, I think?
Cool, thanks guys! Great starting roster if so.

Lore question about Xenoblade: I know the game world is set on two continents, which are actually set on the surface of two giants locked in combat. And it would seem those giants have their own atmosphere, hence the clouds and such. But are those two giants floating in space like planets? After all, there's a moving sun, and stars at night, etc.

Agreed. I'll specially be mad if Sonic gets game rips for smash run songs as well. Now that I think about it, I didn't see any Sonic composers for the 3DS soundtrack. I know that it doesn't mean much, but it worries me a bit.

Also, they really should've made all songs play on all stages. Or at least make it a secret option or something.

They're depicted as standing in the ocean. I think they're more aptly described as continents.

But that's just what I got from the intro, I never made it that far before I got bored.

They are on a planet filled with ocean, I think.
It has been more than a year since I played it.

The world was nothing but an endless sea...

This is the opening of the game so it's not at all a spoiler. So you can see what it looks like for yourself.

IIRC, they are both in water. Aside from the giants, everything is water.

Ah, thanks everyone. What an awesome concept. :-)

They both stand in a giant sea which I think exists on a larger planet, but the giants (the Mechonis and the Bionis) are the only land on the planet.

Edit:

Oops too late.

I notice there are seaside towns in Xenoblade. So are there self-contained lakes and seas on the bodies of the giants, as well as areas that are parallel to the planet ocean?

You can see in the opening cutscene that they're standing in vast, vast ocean.
I don't want to spoil it, but there is a point later in the game where they play around with that fact.

Well, I got my arse beat on the first question but in regards to this, yes there are self-contained bodies of water. The scale in Xenoblade is incredible :D

I don't know which towns you're talking about specifically, but there are large bodies of water throughout the Bionis. There are rivers and lakes in Makna Forest, there is Eryth Sea at the Bionis' head, and Colony 9 is surrounded by water as well. And if you don't care about spoilers
there is also a hidden village on the fallen arm of the Mechonis which rests in the giant ocean.

Now that 3 are sold out (they seem to have been in smaller quantities) I wish I had preordered them. Maybe I can get my gamestop buddies to hold them for me.

Seriously, ugh.

My interview of GAF continues:

Does Shulk have a hood on his vest? I'm nearly positive he does. There's definitely a collar, but I paused the trailer at 1:19, when Shulk is turned sideways, and if you follow his back, it definitely looks like a hood is slung below the collar, long enough that it could cover his collar and his head. At first I thought I was seeing things, though, because in other scenes it's pressed up against him and I wasn't sure if I was mistaking a pattern for a hood.

I think he might. If you look at around the 23 second mark in the trailer you see what looks like a hood. I never really noticed before since I generally changed his equipment soon after I started controlling him.

I think it's just the wide collar, though I am not sure now because I always use a different style of armor for Shulk.

Edit: Yeah he might have. This is the official artwork of XC, and it sure shows a hood.

I'll never understand why anyone wants to buy any of these. To me, it's a waste of money. I'd rather spend that $13 on actual game content than a non-poseable figurine which (so far) only can be used for the sole purpose of fighting a harder AI opponent.
You'll never understand? Sounds like you need to open your mind up a little bit. Could posability be a deciding factor of worth in this case?
