Frontier is pretty decent. Not the best season, but definitely still watchable.

Indeed, I felt it got a bit too much hate. I went in expecting something quite bad and it turned out to be decent. (watched the dub, not seen the JP ver - the dub op is awesome imo)

As for the ones after frontier

Savers/Data Squad is good. Though This is the one season where I openly prefer the JP version but I don't mind the dub either. Just the op for the dub sucks and looks rushed as anything. Also episode 15 (which is one of my favourite episodes) is better in the JP version due to music/atmosphere/etc (though the dub did it better than I expected it too considering how it was. Anyone who's seen this episode should know what I mean I hope lol)

And as for the Xros Wars/Fusion. I haven't seen the dub and I've only watched the first 30ish episodes roughly of Xros Wars in Japanese. It felt more samey than your typical monster of the week anime and at times it felt more uninteresting than them as well. I'd say this is the first season of Digimon where I actively got bored at it for more than 2 episodes.

Some of the later stuff looks okay from what I've seen (via YT)/read but the start is just so bleh.

I also didn't like the whole Xros Wars thing, mainly because it's like one Digimon with different variations on him (Shoutmon) for most of the episodes I watched. That might have been one reason why I got uninterested in it. The whole 30+ episodes I saw focused on Shoutmon and the kid (forget his name) almost exclusively. And I didn't feel it would get any better when I stopped watching.

(though truth be told, I stopped watching because I completely forgot about the episodes coming on each week. That's how not interested in it I got.)

...THERE'S A D-ARTS OF ALPHAMON!?!

When's it coming out, if it hasn't been already released? Because I need that.

I remember when I had to go through my old courier connection just to get that Limited Edition BlackWargreymon. Still so very worth it...!

Its supposed to come early next year. Looks amazing as usual from D-Arts:

Pegosaurus found the link lol

take that back

Gaomon should be allowed too

what is a D-Arts? Are they figures or artwork lol either way it's awesome. Alphamon is so cool.

i-hate-u what variation of Greymon is that?

EDIT: so they are figures

According to this, Alphamon figure in 2015

They are essentially high quality figures. Their best one is supposedly Dukemon. Omegamon is not bad either:

That is a variation of Wargreymon, but is not from the Greymon family. He is called Gaioumon and supposedly made an appearance in Xros Wars. He originates from the Dorumon family.

I rewatched 01 and 02 in these past weeks. Since I enjoyed them I decided to try out the other seasons for the first time. Watching tamers and i'm 12 episodes in. I just came here to say that culumon is like the cutest thing ever.

Terriermon > Culmon. Come at me bro.

From what I've heard Yoshino has a better english va than JP. her jp VA sounds really drab to me

oh interesting. it's a cool design but I think VictoryGreymon is cooler with that broadsword

Many thanks, both of you. I know what I'll be putting a preorder for on Nippon-Yasan soon enough~!

Maybe it's a sign that Wargreymon X and MetalGarurumon X won't be far behind.

I would but a couple of the figures but they're so expensive

....but they're so cool :x

Wish Digievolutions were more concise, like pokemon evolutions. The idea of Gabumon being able to evolve into SkullGreymon is so silly.

Digimon Tamers, Savers, Frontier, and Adventure 02 down. Just need to watch Adventure 01 and the second half of Xros Wars and I'll be done. Now if you'll excuse me, my eyes are bloodshot red from being up for so long. Don't ask why I skip Adventure 01 cause I really don't know the answer to that. Heck, I jumped seasons. I started off with Tamers, from there I went with Savers. After Savers, it was Adventure 02. Frontier came next. Before all this, I watched Xros Wars up to episode 30 I believe. Now I have to decide which of the last two I'll watch first.

Oh and I've been doing this while playing Digimon World 3 and DS. Gonna start Digimon World: Dawn soon.

Heya Digi-GAF(?)!

I somehow missed out on Digimon as a kid, but watched the first few episodes once it was added to Netflix. Netflix has both "Digimon: Digital Monsters" and "Digimon Adventures" seemingly listed as two separate series, but after looking through the episodes they seem to be the same?

Anyway, there are 155 episodes total in Digimon Adventure on Netflix (three seasons) -- man, how many of these do I need to watch to become well-versed in the Digimon universe? Is there some sort of guide to essential episodes? My stupid full time job will definitely prohibit me from powering through the whole series in any sort of reasonable time frame.

Yikes, that sounds confusing.
Digimon Adventure is the Japanese name of the first series.
Digimon Adventure 02 is the second series
Digimon Tamers is the third.

It sounds like "Digimon Digital Monsters" is the dub of those seasons.
Adventure and Adventure 02 are the same continuity. Tamers is a completely separate one (though the English dub wrote in that the first two seasons were a TV show in that universe).

Err you guys do know Digimon are made of data right?

Also for Digimon it isn't much about memorizing mons as much as recognizing them.

That is the number that it's now at again... yay. I'm not even hyped now about this finishing, I just checked to see what it was at but the possibility that this will be nothing after the whole "lol, you thought you were almost done then we added Sukamon with 400+k clicks needed lol" just hasn't helped.

At least if they didn't add any extra clicks, if this turns out to be nothing more than something short (showing the new look of one character like Taichi for instance) then at least it was over quick enough.

Eh, we'll see. Another week or two to go unless they then add Numemon or something. Or maybe Platinum Sukamon for the lulz.

What they are doing is really silly. All they have to do is honor their countdowns and release say an image of new Taichi, plus another egg countdown for other information. All they are doing is damping the hype built since the announcement.

Wish Digievolutions were more concise, like pokemon evolutions. The idea of Gabumon being able to evolve into SkullGreymon is so silly.
While evolutionary lines exist evolution in digimon is a random process, thats been an element of the lore since the beginning but is only really used in the games.

Cautiously excited to see this new series as I was a big fan of Digimon Adventure and 02 when they aired. Strangely, the one thing that made me give Digimon a chance, despite the fact that it wasn't even used in the dub, was my obsession listening to Butter-fly and other songs/music from the series. It wasn't until at least several years later that I ever came across any fansubs of the original Japanese series to watch.

also why did they feel the need to change Taichi and Hikari's surname? Kamiya from Yagami? Why?

I'd always heard that it was changed because the anagram when Yagami is reversed is imagay.

Found a site regarding digimon evolution line: http://di-oh-go.blogspot.com/

Gabumon's evo lines x.X

Evolution lines are a complete nightmare if you were gonna even try and attempt to map them out.

That's one of the neat things I loved about Lost Evolution; it had viewable evo trees for a lot of Digimon.
Hell, with enough time and effort, pretty much any digimon could become another by warping and jumping trees.
So realistically, any digimon could become another.

I always found this to be funny. Weregarurumon, what are you doing? You are not a chosen child, you are a perfect level Digimon. Move forward with the other Digimons.

Digital wuourldo. EREBARESHI KODOMOTACHI DIGITAL WUOURDO EREBARESHI KODOMOTACHI. 90% of the dialogue of 02 right there..
I'm bored, forgive me

I said that EREBARESHI KODOMOTACHI and Digital WUOURLDO was 90% of 02's dialogue but 75% of that is DIGITAL WUORLDO.
I actually like EREBARESHI KODOMOTACHI, DIGITAL WUOURLDO slowly chipped away at my sanity.
And yes I'm enjoying tamers. Episode 16 currently. Saw the first Matrix evolution, that was cool.

I think the egg has been going at about 20k a day lately. So if that holds true it'll be just about a week until it cracks. I have a feeling that once it starts getting down there it'll pick up speed a bit again though.

welp, looks like I was wrong. Seems the egg clicking slowed down by about 4k just from yesterday. This could take a bit longer still...

Alright. Lets do this. What is your favourite evolution theme?

Mine is Break Up. Beat Hit Would be a close second. 02 has a lot of flaws but they really nailed the evolution themes.

duuude

I only know the evolution themes from 01 and 02, but once I watch the rest I'll edit.

Break Up! > Brave Heart > Beat Hit

when Veemon first evolved into Fladramon and Break Up! plays it's amazing.
