It makes me smile that Dixie and Krystal didn't get in. Awful, awful characters. Especially Krystal. I mean seriously guys?
I'm guessing we'll get a Metal Face pic, along with an explanation of how he'll affect fights.
For music, I think we'll get a Paper Mario song and You Will Know Our Names.
Dixie was our only chance for a third DK character. A series which is massively under represented in Smash.

Honestly, I'm hoping the fact that Sakurai basically explained all the major functions of Shulk in the reveal miiverse posts instead of using up 3 POTDs means we'll start getting some bombshells, but...I've been saying that for a while.
What do you consider so awful about Dixie? Girl played a mean air guitar.

Dixie isn't that awful. Can't say the same about Krystal though.
What are you on? I don't really see the appeal of Krystal, but what's wrong with Dixie? She's one of Nintendo's first heroines (Samus being the first of course).

I actually took a big step towards acceptance while writing that post - I initially wrote "Kirby 3DS stage." I'll take the Wii U Kirby stage (unless that's just Halberd -_-)
I'm not sure. Even after Ridley was revealed as a stage boss in a similar fashion, he refrained from actually showing him or explaining his attack pattern. Though I guess Gaur Plain being in the 3DS version will mean he could show Metal Face earlier, seeing as players will come into contact with him in 12 days.
God, what a fantastic game. Hoping one of these days we can get those four together in Smash. Sakurai could stop right there with DK representation and I'd be forever satisfied.

Come to think of it, a Gaur Plains pic would be nice. We don't know anything about the stage yet.

It's more of what they do with her than what she looks like. If you never knew how Luigi acted, he'd just be Green Mario.

All these people who don't care about Dixie have never played DKC 2 or 3 I guess. She's a really fun character with a lot of personality, her ponytail can be used like a helicopter to float around or like a whip to attack enemies. Diddy has nothing similar to that.
That can't be. That blow-up sex doll covered in fur they introduced in DK64 stands out like a sore thumb. Thank god the franchise is safe with Retro now, Rare just lost it after the DKC games :/
Anyone who compares her to any of the regular kongs and thinks she looks the same is in dire need of some glasses

Both should be axed in favor of Funky and Candy. Can't argue that either of them are derivative.
Characters are subjective to each person. I think Dixie deserves to be in Smash since Brawl and Krystal would be the natural next Star Fox rep. Plus, Nintendo has more females that are not just human characters to choose from.
I mean, I fucking hate Wolf and Lucario with a passion and think they are total toolwads with their stupid gruffy voices and suckball character designs... but I'm not angry at them for being in Smash since I know many people enjoy them. I still play as them. The more characters, the better. Plus, just pummel the CPU's as your hated characters. Everyone wins.

Because they were trying to cover up the steaming pile of crap that was DKC64 with "new" characters that were derivative of Dixie and Kiddie to try to get you to ignore its many, many flaws.

Dixie is a classic DKC character but if it wasn't for Tropical Freeze bringing her back I'd have never really cared one way or another about her being in Smash Bros.
But since she's back and has had some more stuff given to her for potential moveset fodder (jellybean crossbow or whatever, haven't played it yet) I'd love to see her as a 3rd DK rep.

EDIT: you're right, it does look like a climbing stage. Hm. It doesn't seem to be scrolling very fast, so maybe it'll be okay.
