It's his weapon.

Yeah, but what's that thingie on the end of it? Looks like an old man version of Audrey from LSOH.

You've piqued my curiosity... what do you mean? :o
I'm not saying I disagree (I think most fighting games have lots of barriers to entry that are completely unnecessary) but I'm curious about which aspects you feel make SF4 obtuse and where smash diverges :3

The cramped space to encourage more 1v1, the complete lack of a tutorial, some movements that aren't even explained in the manual and are incredibly difficult for a newcomer to use (I'm looking at you charge), loading every character on you from the start (this might be a version thing though), and a general lack of external modes due to an assumption that multiplayer will take up 99% of your time (wifi here is crap so any online play here for anything is SOL).

Well he was a Newcomer in MBrawl, so he didn't have many chances to be unlockable :)
They usually switch the unlockable vets a bit for every new entry.
Also: Welcome to SmashGAF :D

That might possibly not be the final initial roster. It's just the only roster we have to believe is the initial roster.

It wouldn't be the first time for a default character to become an unlockable since Ness went from unlockable in 64 to default in Melee and back to unlockable in Brawl. If he is unlockable I doubt there is any real reason behind it. He's just unlockable now for some reason.

Also congrats on first post! Someone will be along to post that Simpsons "Don't forget you're here forever" pic for you soon.

Thank you all! :3 So hyped for release, my account couldn't have been activated at a better time!

And yeah I figured that if unlockables can become starters then the reverse happening isn't too out there *prays that this is the case for Ice Climbers and Lucas*

Inversely I like all the leaked legit info. It tells me what I am getting and lets me get any bitching out of the way.

I love how duck hunt dog looks & really really like clown car bowser jr so the leak excited me.

In the end it's not much different from discovering it after JP release anyway. But I would've been annoyed if it had been leaked during a global release.

Insulting Rainbow? I think we should revoke anything that remotely has a British connection from the NA version of Smash just for that.

No DK, no Star Fox, no Xenoblade...

I think it would be a weird choice to put Karate Joe as the rep.

Fans know him, Sakurai knows him, but what about people who don't know him? I don't see him being the "face" of the Rythm games. When people who didn't know about Earthbound saw Ness, and later Lucas, they grew curious. The same with the Fire Emblem characters on melee. They really helped those franchises because those characters appealed to someone who didn't even know the games.

I don't think karate Joe would appeal to anyone outside from the fans. Chorus kids would, if only because they are funny and adorable.

Also, we have enough fighters in Smash Bros kicking and punching, I said I prefer a singing character because it's something new and original they'd bring to the table, not because it's easier to associate with rythm and music...

Pfft, feel free to keep DK in his American and Japanese-made iterations! DK '94 or bust!

Star Fox Adventures?! Terrible. Xenoblade? It's a JRPG. Do you mean getting rid of British actors? Eh, don't really care about voice acting in games...I think I prefer not having it usually.... ;)

No, really. I grew up in NA so I never looked up British TV shows for children. I don't think that's so weird! It must not be very well known to NA or I would've heard of it before....

Oh good. Thanks Benzy! It looked kind of alive-ish.
Don't worry, I'm pretty sure nobody has any idea what it is, I'm surprised that you were even able to guess that it was a kids TV show. Looks like something they'd make on like a PBS crafts show.

It is. Vanilla SF4 had you unlocking a good chunk of the cast, pretty obvious why that wasn't in subsequent versions though.

I know I'll be kind of annoyed re-unlocking people on Wii U
until I unlock Ice Climbers and realise Sakurai was playing us all like fiddles.

No, I mean removing them 100%.
In fact Mario was played by the late great Bob Hoskins, a British actor, so we may as well remove all the Mario references as well.

It was a half finished game glued together with star fox space shooter levels. The space shooter levels should have been polished more and put into star fox assault and the zelda esque parts needed to be fine tuned and finished and kept as just Dinosaur Planet

I meant the celeb thing. People talk as if we all know what it is so I thought it might have something to do with the thread.

I know about the leak, I didn't know I was that big of a ghost.

No, the celeb thing is just that a bunch of celbrities (mostly female) recently had naked photos of themselves stolen and posted online. It's still trending on my twitter feed and I'm totally grossed out by it, but it's unrelated to smash.

I had to Google it!

No Yellow Submarine assist trophy...

... Hey, Beatles Rock Band was on Wii. It could happen.

That's a stretch worthy of a member of the other Fantastic Four!

....You're bluffing.

It had very impressive graphics but very slow, stale Zelda-lite gameplay. Also the Shopkeeper had the most grating voice.

Well that doesn't make sense, because the good versions of those don't have any British association.

Although that would mean no K Rool, and we're totally getting him, right?

Eh, I can do without K. Rool. I'd prefer the Tikis or Snowmads anytime. Much better villains.

It's really not. There's blank space on the screen.

Man, this all feels so surreal. It seems like just yesterday when I was playing through Xenoblade, it was an amazing game but it felt like a niche JRPG that'd just be forgotten in years to come (by Nintendo at least, the fans would always love it), and now here we are, a Smash Bros picture of Shulk and Riki.

feels good man.

That statement's grasping at as much as "the whole roster was leaked."

Both have the same amount of evidence to go on, which is not really much at all. There was a leak, many characters were revealed. If it's final remains to be seen. On the same token, nobody should be going around definitively claiming that there's more characters, because there's no evidence one way or the other.

Well, I enjoyed the hell out of that game, and don't really care if it was a different thing in the beggining, that happens all the time without it being known. People love Super Mario Bros 2 and that's an even worse case.
