First ever release outside of US and Japan. That's a p. big deal
You have a point. I forgot about that. Actually I have never played Earthbound before
don't hate me
I did get it as my digital reward from Club Nintendo. But I have yet to start the game.

Are we still discussing about our favorite type of cakes? If so, this is mine!

I'm more inclined to believe it's a Rhythm Heaven stage, which goes along with my idea that the Smash Run enemies are based on stages and not characters.

Pretty sure the leak confirmed that the Devil Car enemy from Mother 1 is a Smash Run enemy. So if your theory is right, that'd only lend credence to the idea that the stage is Magicant.

So if this is the starting roster, who are the first three newcomers you'll try, and who are the first three veterans?

In terms of veterans, I think I'll try:

- Bowser
- Ike
- Charizard

In terms of newcomers, I think I'll try:

- Greninja
- Palutena
- Robin

...but honestly, even as I type the above, I remember, "Oh, but I really want to try Rosalina & Luma," and "Oh, but I really want to try Little Mac," and so on.

And of course, Shulk is constantly on my mind these days. He looks so amazing.

Ahh yeah, delicious carrot cake <3
Some people add some weird vegetable shit in their carrot cake tho. Fuck that, teh only vegetable that belongs in a carrot cake is a carrot!

It was confirmed real when we got the Shulk trailer and was heavily, heavily implied to be real by the leaked video footage.

No one knows if it is the final roster but chances are high.

Nothing has been confirmed by the still-NDA'd PAX event.

We don't know anything about DLC and all the rumors about it are still just rumors.

To be specific I was referring to the PAX event. I was aware the ESRB footage was basically confirmed before Shulk was announced. There's just been speculation as to whether or not it was the full roster.

http://boards.4chan.org/v/thread/260805043#p260816602

That 4chan thread was linked to me and I was curious if it's been discussed here. For what it's worth I've assumed that the ESRB leak was the full roster.

I guess that's right too. I already pointed out that the Polar Bear appearance didn't fit with the idea, and I guess this wouldn't fit either. It was just an idea - but I still think the Find Mii Ghost comes from the stage rather than the Mii Fighters.
We'll find out soon enough. If it is a Rhythm Heaven stage though, I think that would be the reason for the Sneaky Spirit in Smash Run, and not because the Chorus Kids were ever intended to be playable.

How come a copy of Xenoblade is going for 99 bucks? WTF

It's probably more worth it to wait till the New 3DS comes out and play on it lol.

Why am I saying this? Cause I got really pumped about Shulk having instances on his fight mode and wanted to know him better...

Well, how about NOPE.

It might be more cost-effective to import a copy from Europe.

Its a case by case basis.
I personally loved ever minute of Other M aside from a few pixel hunt sections.
You really just need to try it. If you arent feeling it after a hour it won't get better for you.

Glad to hear this as I have a copy too and am looking forward to playing it. :)

Sorry, just stating the facts. Last entry of this three-part series was eight years ago and Japan-only, and the series creator himself said the series is over.
And Reggie straight-up killed a journalist for requesting a Mother 3 port, so clearly Nintendo doesn't want to talk about it any more.

I would agreed with you but I wouldn't because Nintendo just advertised and released Earthbound for VC over the world. It's kinda become relevant again.

You motherhaters.

I don't have a problem with Mother at all - I've never played them, so I really can't have an opinion on them.
I'm just stating the facts - its an obscure three-part series that only had one international entry and most likely won't ever be getting another installment.

I'm also willing to say similar things about my favorite Nintendo series: Pikmin. Pikmin is a three-part series that's sold really poorly, so poorly in fact, that a song used to advertise the first game actually outsold the game itself in Japan. Even though Pikmin and Mother may be really great games, they're not popular outside of a small group of loyal fans.

Nods in NES Remix? I haven't played it because it seems expensive for what it gives, is it good?

Oh, there are just a couple of cute Year of Luigi references in both games. I really loved both NES Remix iterations, especially the first. The second has microgames based on better full games, but the arcade-y style of the games featured in the first NES Remix really lends itself better to the microgames on offer there. It's tons of hours of content if you're going for 100%, though. My recommendation would be to wait for the retail edition to come out and then get it on sale (or though a GAFer who can get it for you at a discount through Best Buy when it comes out, if you're in the US; I can get you in touch with someone about that if you want, just PM me for details), or through a sale if it goes on sale on the eShop. It's a bit pricy for $30 but still packs a lot of great content.

Consider writing up some detailed impressions as you go. There are few things as beautiful as the cycle of anger and frustration most victims of Other M experience.

You're just making my potential fandom of the game even stronger!

Sorry to keep hogging the top of the pages guys! I mentioned this a while back, but I'm now more officially moving forward with trying to get a voice chat group going. And since it's me, here's a graphic!

agyzuv.png

When I brought this up initially, there was a pretty good response of people who wanted to be involved. Being able to communicate with the people I'm playing with is really a big part of gaming, so I'd really love to set up a way for us to bypass the inevitable lack of chat on the 3DS version; hopefully the Wii U will have chat built in, but if not there's only more reason to do this.

I'm still not 100% on what program/site I will want to use, but for now I'm planning on Skype. If we can organize a list of who wants to chat, you should be able to just make a friends list and create a group chat with whoever is in your party. I'm also hoping to host a tournament for the Wii U version (more on that soon!), so if spectator mode is any good, this would make watching the matches a hell of a lot more exciting and make people in the community a lot more personable.

Also, if you don't like the thought of your voice being heard or are hearing impaired in anyway, this could also be great for just holding text conversations; probably a lot better than trying to talk to a group of people in the madness that will be the OT at launch.

So, all that to say: I wanna hear you guys talk! Smash just isn't complete to me if I can't have someone cursing at me while I counter with my own vulgarities. Let me know if you'd be interested in this or have any ideas on how to improve this idea. I really love this community and hopefully this has the potential to strengthen it.

I'd probably be down for this if matchmaking allows parties for doubles (assuming doubles matchmaking is even a thing)

Way too many characters at the start IMO. I love Sonic but he fits better as an unlockable.
I'll still need to work for the G&W but that's only like 6 non-clone characters you need to unlock. (give or take two)

My US 3DS has been sent out for repairs (start button broken), so I can't add any of you right now, but I do have my japanese 3DS ready for next week.

If you also have a japanese 3DS and want to share friend codes, PM me your friend code. Already have a handful of you guys added.

Will now I'm interested. Count me in. I need people to trash talk while I make excuses for my horrible play.

I was interested, but I forgot to PM you man. I'm down!

Although Skype is kinda ehh for more than a few people. I've heard some good stuff about Raidcall and even Mumble. I saw check one of those out.

Put me down as a maybe for these voice chat shenanigans.

I'm down for voice chat. The MK8 Skype races were a ton of fun.

I'd totally be in for this! Not sure Skype could handle as many as are signing up though. Thankfully people are saying so other solutions.
Maybe give Skype a try though? I don't know, but either way I can see this being fun!

Awesome! All of you are on the list.

@Oric

Best program to use for voice chat is either Ventrillo or TeamSpeak.

Probably TeamSpeak is the best since you can create a server and separete rooms and you also have text chat
Seperate rooms would be amazing, so that's great to know.

Newcomer:
Shulk
Little Mac
Mega Man

Veteran:
Marth
C. Falcon
Meta Knight

All the newcomers are characters I was really rooting for, especially Shulk. There's still something amazing and unbelievable about Mega Man in Smash Bros, but he's a little lower since I tried him at the demo event.

Marth has been my most used character since Melee (I tried to play Pit in Brawl and Mewtwo in PM, but it's easier to fall back on Marth since he's so similar), so I'll probably play him to get a good idea of how the game is different from the last two. Falcon is my character that I usually go to for fun, and I'm really curious to see if he's been fixed since Brawl. MK is just really good in Brawl and I assume he still will be.

So jealous. Hopefully I'll be able to get Smash early, as Mario Kart 8 started being sold a few days early in LA.

For those of you who played Project M, how stable is it? Any major glitches?

It's pretty stable. Not sure how the online works on Dolphin. No major glitches that I've encountered. Sometimes I just have problems starting the mode, so I have restart the Wii. But not a deal breaker for me.

Oh yeah, I keep meaning to mention that to Heath. Quote this post for it.

thanks I was kind of confused for a while there

will do

For those of you who played Project M, how stable is it? Any major glitches?

The only instability I've had has been stuff I can't replicate, except for if you do an all Ice Climbers match the chance that things will crash becomes pretty high.

So don't do an all Ice Climbers match.

I vaguely recall the Japanese version of brawl getting into some people's hands a day or two before release. Wouldn't be surprised if the same happens this time around.

Heh, remembering that made me remember Brawl Central was a thing.
