Didn't Ken say that he was going to drop Marth for Lucina? Wonder how he feels now.
Hey Anth0ny, as someone who's more versed in the pro scene, how big of a game changer does this seem to be if in the final build? Is it really just the equivalent of an L-Cancel with a more practical input method?fuck youuuuuuuu landing lag
He's clearly joking, guys. lolAgreed, but if it this or nothing, let's go with this. Also, D1 mentioned it on twitter:

Proof that Sakurai is well versed with the Metroid Prime games, but at the same time is trying to kill us.Boost Guardian announced as a playable character. What do?
what are the chances they patch the final build of any exploit the community finds? Even after release.
So apparently someone found a way to reduce landing Lag in the E3 demo:

Hope it's true!
Not to be pessimistic, but does it really matter given how old that build was? For all we know it's an oversight that's out of the final build.
Or alternatively easier to pull off in the final build and less obtuse, whatever.
I would like to think that too, but Sakurai decided to include Ness instead of Ninten, and that was only when the Mother series only had two games. Imagine in a hypothethical situation when there are 10+.I still find it impossible to never add in Marth since he has always been the guy you first think of when you hear FE...even before Melee. That's my fair reasoning without adding in my personal feelings about Chrom as a character
I want Luma wearing a parka!Today is good night for Sakurai to show another costume.
At this point, stages and costumes are what I'm most amped for. Though, I'd love to be surprised with a cool looking Wii-U exclusive mode.Today is good night for Sakurai to show another costume.

Thanks for posting! I was planning to order all the volumes after it wrapped up, glad I can get them all in one swoop. 80 for paperback or 135 for hardcover though.. the hard choices. Guess I'll have to cheap out on this. :\So, my friends! Who's gonna jump in the very last Brawl In The Family Kickstarter? I know I am!!
Btw, it's confirmed that the comic's gonna wrap up at 600 strips...and the final one will be released on October 3; that's right, on Smash 3DS' NA release.
The feelings, man.
One day I'll understand why pro-Smashers call it "landing lag" instead of "recovery" like EVERY OTHER FGC IN THE HISTORY OF ALL OF SPACE TIME
What if the PotD was of the game's icon on the home menu, with a follow-up of the game's banner image on the top screen?
I'd like it.
Cool, that was my understanding. I'm hoping to look into being a little more competitive with this game, as I can start right at launch with everyone else. The ability to cancel landing lag on aerials is huge. Speeds up the pace of the game tremendously. Allows for combos that aren't possible otherwise.
I am skeptical, though, as I feel like something as big as this would have been discovered at E3, or one of the many events following E3. All will be known in 10 days, I guess.

No, I agree to a certain extent. I like the tourney scene, but I'm just as excited to play with items on every stage with friends.I dunno about you guys, but do you guys sometimes get annoyed with all the talk about Smash 4 not being "tourney" proof or whatever?
I like playing smash and I get that some want to play it at a competitive level. I admire Project M, but i feel many treat the smash series as those moms who dress up their children for the beauty pageants. It just seems weird and kinda forced. The game is what it is. Basically banning all but 3 levels to play.
It's a weird place to be, you know. I'm able to do the wavedashing and all the advanced techs in melee and stuff but i still find it kinda weird that people will go as far as change an entire game to in order for it to be even considered a "good enough" game.
You know what i mean?

because recovery=getting back to the stage
as for why lag specifically, idk
WiiU version release date tonight.

Oh yeah, totally agree with your last statement. I find all the gameplay tidbits interesting, as it's informing what kind of competitive community will come out of it.This wasnt directed at me but...
It all depends on how many characters can do it and with how many moves. It sounds like there is a small window after attacking in which you can just start acting again. No specific input, it just seems to be timing based.
From a metagame perspective it really depends on how many characters can do it and on how many moves. It would be a benefit to anyone who can do it.
Not gonna lie though (and this is just in general), I hate to hear people exclaim, "now it can be competitive!"
It was always gonna be competitive, it just depends on if its your cup of tea or not.
Oh yeah, I'm hoping to see GAFers at some of these things as well. If I remember correctly, RomanceDawn and I had briefly talked in an earlier thread about both most likely going to EVO next year, so I'm sure there'll be a ton of people there from NeoGAF.That's what I'm planning too. I want to go to Apex 2015 and compete in Smash 4 and possibly Project M.
...how long do you have that avatar again?Rats! I thought I signed up for that Bash Sisters tourney. Oh well... ='(
Those BitF books are so expensive...
Project M exists because they love the content but don't like the execution. What do you think mods exist to do? :v

The whole "banned" thing is basically just a running joke.I have yet to play project M...but honestly what i don't agree with is what it stands for. Even in the name, I assume the "M" stands for melee, right? It's like they basically want Brawl, or smash in general to be like Melee. It's weird. They can't let each game be their own entitiy. ANd this vocal minority is kinda ruining the game for me in a way. You have people yelling out "BANNED" when they announce each stage. It's just kinda annoying i guess. idk lol
Cool! Competing or spectating?I can actually say that I will be going to EVO next year.Going with a couple of friends as well. Heh.

Just a week......how long do you have that avatar again?
Welcome! Don't forget, you---I'm hoping we get a new stage tonight. I feel like there aren't many unique stages compared to other games. Hopefully there is a large number and it's just kept secret behind unlocks.
Aaannnd first post on the good ol' NeoGAF!Good to finally go from GAF-lurker to GAF post contributor.
Man, you juniors are no fun anymore.Don't forget I'm here forever.
I fucking hate the tourney talk. My god, I don't see Smash as that kind of game. Just fucking enjoy the game.

That's kinda hypocritical. You can't tell people to enjoy the game and at the same time restrict them from enjoying it on a competitive/tourney level. There are many ways to enjoy the game. Which is why it's so beloved.I fucking hate the tourney talk. My god, I don't see Smash as that kind of game. Just fucking enjoy the game.
Absolutely. Can't stand that talk and the people who create it.
Smash 4 should be judged on how great a game and how great a celebration of Nintendo's history it is, not on how successfully it appeals to a very small, very obnoxious subset of Smash players.
