Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 14: Snake... had a hard life

I guess I wasn't very active in the XY threads, but it's a pleasure to meet a fellow Carbink enthusiast!

I'm Masuda Method-ing for a shiny and I'm (literally) 2100 eggs into it. I will not be deterred. I must have a shiny Carbink.
I know that feel, bro. My shiny Sableye took well over 50 hours to hatch. Those were dark times...

I stopped breeding when I got perfect IVs. I gave that sucker Light Clay so it can dual-screen like a champ. It also makes short work of every Talonflame. I see a Talonflame, I switch in Carbink on its Gale Wing Brave Bird, taking barely any damage, and then I set up Stealth Rock as it retreats. Then when it comes back, BAM, 50% HP gone, and I finish it off with Power Gem. Most satisfying maneuver ever!

I don't know how you did it, but I just flashbacked to unlocking Jigglypuff in the original Smash Bros. and feeling extremely nervous and crazy.

Now my palms are sweaty and I expect you to clean them.

I think that we can all agree though, that when it comes to Zelda

Tingle wins for the most potentially interesting moveset
Tingle wins for the most visually distinctive character
Tingle wins for being the only Zelda character to spin off from the series
Tingle wins for being fairly old. He's 35! That's probably Ganondorf's age

I would genuinely love to see Tingle as a playable character but they'd totally need to supplement him with another Zelda character like Impa to prevent impotent nerdrage.

Isn't Ganondorf at this point thousands of years old?

Tingle is a fucking prick who made me pay to find Triforce shards. It was his world too that I was trying to save from Ganondorf. I even saved him from the jail.

I dunno... I'm skeptical about this PotD implying anything about more characters. My guess is that the leaked video(s) simply showed off various menu screens, one of which happened to be All-Star Mode in its locked state. However, I don't think the footage included was all recorded at the same time, so it's very possible that they booted up the latest build, fiddled around with some menus, booted up the build again, used debug to unlock all the characters, and then filmed some battle scenes.
I'm just trying not to get my hopes up--I want to believe that Lucas and Chorus Kids still have a chance!

Yeah, sorry that Tingle is offering a useful service - cartography and translating dead languages!

I guess when he sold those maps to you, he was just being a mean jerk :(

Tingle is B-A, man

Damn, the lengths we'll go to just for shinies. I know some people who've told me they got theirs in the first 100 eggs and I just weep.

Oh my god wow. I knew I liked Carbink but now I know exactly what to do to my friend who uses his Talonflame like a crutch.

Muahahahaha

Thinly veiled attempt at on topic part:

Carbink should be a Pokeball summon. Maybe it could use Power Gem? Or maybe Light Screen/Reflect to buff the user's defenses for a bit?

When should we realistically expect a release date announcement for Smash 4 Wii U?
A week or so after the Japan release? Or after the America/Europe release?

This reminds me of when Brawl was already out in America, and we still had no clue how long it be before they shipped it out to us... I used to walk past EB Games every day on my way home, hoping that the TBA in the window would have changed to a set of numbers. It's much harder to wait when you don't have an endpoint in sight!

Of course, by the time it finally launched the hype was low enough that I was able to get my hands on a copy pretty easily, whereas SSB4 makes history as the first ever game that I have felt the need to preorder.

I've always been of the opinion that Sakurai wouldn't leave a CSS with unused space, especially on a handheld. He really loves menu and UI design.

I wanna ask y'all a question

If you're Sakurai, and you want to make a secret character completely unexpected, which decision would you make?:

A. Never mention or show a character, and then have everyone speculate and discuss whether you're in

B. Reveal a playable character in a non-playable position, thereby causing people to completely not talk about the prospect of them being playable and in fact declare that character deconfirmed.

Well, we know what Sakurai does - he's done it twice thus far. R.O.B. was shown as an enemy, and Toon Link was a background character. Them being different incarnations of Link is clearly not the reason why these two characters can occupy the same space, because Sakurai made a point of taking him from the background whenever Toon Link is present.

Seriously, Carbink absolutely wrecks Talonflame. I've played countless matches online and stonewalled every Talonflame I ever encountered. Just keep Carbink in the pocket until the bird inevitably shows up, then switch in to block it, and set up for its return.

Probably B. The Spirit Tracks stage had me convinced that Toon Link was gone. I'm very glad that's not the case though.

In all fairness, the leak did have one blank space on the stage select. We could be in for at least one more character. I still find it hard to believe the ESRB reel wouldn't include the final roster...

Exactly.

If I'm wrong about Tingle, oh well! No skin off my back.

If I'm right, then I'm a fucking maverick

What bothers me is that one stage could be Rhythm Heaven, or it could be Ice Climber. Both series have no stages in the present roster, and basically any other veterans or popular newcomer choices are from already-repped series.

It's gotta be a RH character. They got their start on Handhelds, so it would be right for them to get a stage.

Then again, there isn't a new WarioWare stage which kinda baffles me O_o
