Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 14: Snake... had a hard life

Oh?

From the way he worded it I assumed he just went on Gaf-Japan, read a few posts, and came back to explain what he saw.

And as I said that's just as accurate as going to a forum and assume everyone thinks like that.

Might as well assume Japan thinks Legendary Godzilla is fat too.

Ah, I am going to miss this so much, but I heard about a few books regrouping all of his strips, interesting!
Yep:
So, my friends! Who's gonna jump in the very last Brawl In The Family Kickstarter? I know I am!!

Btw, it's confirmed that the comic's gonna wrap up at 600 strips...and the final one will be released on October 3; that's right, on Smash 3DS' NA release.

The feelings, man.

I'm glad they'll be getting all grouped together in strips... I'm reallly really far from being caught up, so I'll check out the last few years of it when I get the books.

When I'm being asked to drop $100 on two versions of Smash Bros and evidence shows up that potentially both versions were hampered by the existence of the other version due to split development time, yes I have a right to be bothered by it. I would gladly sacrifice one version for the other if it meant giving me a more complete version of the game with the money I'm spending on it.

This whole "wahh you guys are acting entitled" is stupid, of course we're entitled to want certain things from a product we're paying for. Both versions of smash are going to have a ton of content, but if the stage selection in terms of new vs old stages feels off compared to past Smash Bros games and the final roster has multiple cut characters that were in previous versions then people have a right to be upset.

Maybe we should just have VGCW ported to Wii U instead of Smash. All sorts of characters in their crappy generic wrestler form will make it in. I mean everyone wants more characters, some are even willing to sac the 3DS version :P
I'm all for this.

Reading these pages made me realise how entitled you guys feel you are.

You'd really drop a unique game for a fucking single character? For real? lol

Maybe the game is a stopgap, or a time waste for some, but for the majority of 3DS gamers, it's likely the game we have been waiting for, like myself. My excitement for Smash is incredibly high and will be my only version and shall sink hundreds of hours on it wherever the hell I please.

You guys need to stop being so insensitive, the 3DS game has happened and it's staying that way. Wishing to get rid of Smash Run, portable Smash and way more for a single character most of you won't really play as extensively strikes me as a bit childish and sad.

Oh well, I'm devoted to the 3DS game. No issue if you guys are trashing it once the almighty "souperiah wee you!!!!111" version comes out, but please stop shitting on the experience for the rest of us.

Those are personal opinions, we are not thinking about taking Smash away from non-wii U owners, we are talking about our preferences. For someone having both consoles is is NOT a "whole game" it's just the small version of the game we really want, so yeah, like someone said before, 2 more characters to love and master are better than that for me and a lot other people, because there we will spend a lot more time.

A single character... Smash IS the characters. 1 Character means a lot to us. It is you who started shitting on people, we shared opinions and are buying and enjoying both versions.

This is old, but i found it really interesting, what people in Japan wanted for smash 4:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/633202-super-smash-bros-wii-u/64873505

They are getting a lot of what they wanted... But I still can't believe they want Roy in.

Who bets for Mewtwo, K Rool, Dixie and Bandana Dee?
"Other: Shulk gets quite a lot of requests. Shulk is easily the most requested Nintendo character from a series not represented yet with a playable character in Smash Bros. A distant second would be Starfy. There are several Japanese Smash fans that mention Punch-Out and Little Mac's "overseas" popularity. Isaac (Robin in Japan) and Matthew get few requests. Saki and Isa also get few requests."

;__; I feel your pain, Japan.

Is anyone else kind of disappointed we won't get a twelfth character trailer? We had three at E3 2013, then three in the months that followed, then three at E3 2014, but only two afterwards?
There's not really much time for another one though, since we're less than two weeks from Japanese release and the last trailer was just a few days ago.

If people legitimately think I hope for both versions to get cancelled out of sadistic glee,
I think it's time for me to rethink what image I have around here.

I'd sacrifice Smash and all following Smash games for a Nintendo themed Dating Sim.

make every girl crippled and now we're talking...
Samus will be the blind one

so PotD give us the possibility that there's some unleaked character right? and did someone confirm something about the PAX cancel aerials rumor? hopefully that wasn't a joke

You guys shouldn't be afraid to dream bigger. I'd sacrifice the entire library of the dating sim genre in exchange for Klonoa in Smash Bros 4 >:D what do you say to that?

These discussions are pretty silly

That's not a sacrifice, you're doing everyone a favor! You heard me. But anyway, I'd sacrifice roughly $99.98 + tax for both versions of the game ($139.98 + tax if that Wii U bundle's real).

...And a goat for a better stage selection/boss toggle.
You don't want to know the depths I'd go to for Ridley.

I will turn this thread into the Battleship OT and get it torpedo'd to Community if it means getting another Smash character.

Best thing about the 3DS version is that it led to dropping the swapping characters mechanic.

I'm pretty sure it was the Wii U version that led to that. Cartridges load way faster than discs and the HD load times on the Wii U probably made character swapping unfeasible. It already took a long time in Brawl.

Smash
Solo
Online
Replays
Spectate
Smash Run
MultiMan
Bomb Target game
All-Stars
Homerun Contest
45+ fighters to master
34+ stages
Tons of Custom movesets
600+ Trophies
Collectables
Stocks and tons of variations of Smash
Local play
The spinning top game
Challenges

Yeah, 3DS is barebones as it gets.

I'm talking mostly about the single player content. When compared to Brawl it seems lacking by comparison. I don't want another SSE, but I would have liked to have seen another take on adventure mode. I mean don't get me wrong, the game could be the characters with Battlefield only and I would play it until my eyes bled, but I can foresee reviews complaining about the content.

You will, they are not THAT long. I have it worse with Xenoblade...
OoT is like 25 hours and TP is around 30 hours for first playthroughs... Xenoblade is about 70 hours. I was gonna say that combined those two are just as bad... but looking closer, Xenoblade actually is still somewhat significantly longer.

I think you're taking things a bit too personally.

Yeah, Smash 3DS is his baby, so I can't really blame him. Once people took a jab at your child, so you have to react to people by defending your child.

People wanting to canceling either version just for some reasons are silly tho.

If we're thinking of these games as our children, then we really need to step back and take a deep breath lol.

Especially the 3DS version

Okay, let me start by saying that I love the look of the 3DS version and I'm excited to play it. I am happy it exists. I will continue to play it even after the Wii U version comes out.

However.

If there were substantial evidence that having the dev team focus solely on the Wii U version meant a greater volume of content and refinement of gameplay elements, I would absolutely choose to have just the one title. It's not that I don't want the handheld version, it's that I would prefer one super-refined title.

Again, let me reiterate that I am a huge fan of the 3DS version and I am not wishing it out of existence.

I think you're taking things a bit too personally.

In all honesty, people sitting their taking dumps on other people's experience isn't really cool. Some people come to this OT to read about the game, not to listen to people be like "omg i'd drop a whole game cuz one charakta!!!", it's stupid and unnecessary.

It does put a downer on some of us because it makes us feel like the game isn't worth it or some useless piece of time-wasting trash.

Pardon, when have I recently started to "shit on" anybody and their opinions?
