I know it might sound like I'm raining on people's parades, but I'm not. I fully acknowledge the 3DS version is awesome, I played it. I'm very very thankful it's coming out. It'll be neat to be able to play smash away from home without having to lug around my console.
I'm just saying that for me, personally, if the 3DS version never existed, i'd be fine, just like I've been fine since 1999.
I totally acknowledge it's a life-changer for many other people, and I wouldn't want to rob anyone else of that satisfaction, but if *I* were the ONLY smash bros customer, I'd be fine without the 3DS version in favor of more resources/dev time for the Wii U version.
Like I said before, I'm pretty sure their budget is bigger than ever and totally accommodates for both versions of the game. We don't know if the Wii U version's budget would have been more if the 3DS did not exist. It's very likely it would not have had the sum of both versions' budget, so I really don't think the 3DS would have changed much, if anything.
