Persona 5 also launching on PS4, releasing 2015 ["waifu"/"husbando" crap = ban]

All I want to say is that I love the mod who decided that talking shit like "Oh, mah waifu" is ban worthy.

PS3, PS4, I don't care, I have both.

That rule should be enforced in every (Persona related) thread

Also fuck yes PS4 version, can't wait to hide my PS3 in the closet after Tales of Zestiria

Even if the PS4 version isn't better, I got rid of my ps3 so it being announced on PS4 was a miracle. This is my favorite series of all time and I kind of dreaded re buying a ps3 just to play it. And I totally would have.

Anyways, what features would you guys like in the new engine? I said this earlier but I would like the s link stuff to be more fleshed out and complex. Someone else mentioned other people reacting to your relationships. I agree, I want more of that as well.

Trying to think what else. I guess an overworld with depth would be cool. I always kind of wished that for certain activities to raise stats, you could actually play it (like playing an arcade game). I also always wanted the school club stuff to have more to it instead of just VN dialogue.

That said, I'm not expecting a complete overhaul here. That's kind of the core to this series.

Edit: I like P4 more then P3 simply because I like the story more (how it progresses) as well as how the characters are integrated into it. I feel like P3 is a little more disconnected in that regard.

Really? I guess I should check that one out.

Yes. Maya Amano is the main protagonist, a journalist. Katsuya is a police detective. Ulala is a fashion store clerk. Baofu is a... well, discovered later in the story.

It's the second part of the Persona 2 duology, however, so it's probably best to play it after Persona 2: Innocent Sin. It can still be played before that, though.

The Answer is... Awful. It really highlights the weakness of the random dungeons in Persona 3, because they're not being broken up by bits of story at your pace: Instead, you have to make enough progress within the dungeon areas in order to get your fix.

It's a simple change, but drastically alters the way you approach the game. Before, if you didn't feel like handling Tartarus, you could always do a week of Social Links or something. As long as you kept an eye on the full moon and made sure to get to each sealed section before the full moon rolled around, you were good to go. Dictating the pace of the dungeon crawling made the repetition a lot more bearable.

Also, Aigis is a lot more aggravating as a main character. A lot more.
I was mostly fine with The Answer but it had probably the most frustrating section I experienced in either P3 or P4

Those stupid fucking double battles. I found them pretty difficult and I didn't play with Metis in my party so she wasn't leveled at all when I got to that point...

I found the entire experience frustrating. I hate to recommend it, but The Answer is honestly one of those things which is worth Youtubing in order to save yourself a huge headache. What you get from The Answer is not worth the questions you'll have for yourself while playing, namely "Why, God, why do I have to suffer like this?"

Thanks for the info. Looks like the PlayStation TV is going to be my Atlus machine (since I don't have a PSP or Vita to play P2 on).

I prefer P4 over P3, but I still really love P3 and the soundtrack is god tier.

But The Answer, ugh. I can't even explain exactly why, to be honest, but I hate it.

About P5's tone, I don't think it'll "darker", just more serious. And I hope it's not about the end of the world.

It should be pointed out Innocent Sin is very high school related though which is why EP is a nice change of pace though it hits the exact same story beats. >_>

It still definitely had the best cast in my opinion, I really hope the next Persona does something similar, but from what we have heard from 5, doesn't seem like it. I don't mind much, though.

All dungeon crawling with an arbitrary restriction with the lack of compendium on top of a story that is kind of a pointless addition to the overall narrative of 3

Ok, now I know.

P3 ended too damn well to have a followup, and a bad one at that.

Why are people so eager to get rid of their PS3s anyway? Thing's not even EOL yet, and won't be for a few years if previous PS consoles are any indication.

I still have my SNES.

I enjoyed P3 a ton aside from a few archaic things and Tartarus getting repetitive after a while.

The Answer though... man I just went straight to P4 at that point. It really wasn't worth the hassle and I just watched the interesting bits online. (I actually wished that they left P3's ending as it is but whatever)

I will keep my PS3 until it dies, as it is the only way to play some of my favorite games. But something like P5 coming to PS4 and having some semblance of a date, its like the generation has finally started for me.

So the question now is: When do they show the actual game? Is there any chance of them showing it off at TGS proper? A Famitsu cover story before the end of the year?

Not that into Persona games. Is this announcement good news for PS4 owners?

Aside from Bloodborne, it's the best announcement of the year for me.

That message we got from the director makes me think that this is all that we're going to see at TGS. Since they have seemingly pushed the release date back slightly, they can afford to wait a bit longer for an info blowout.

No one knows! But, that said, I think we can assume that we'll get some gameplay footage before release - if Persona 3 and Persona 4 are anything to go by... Not to mention, P4A, P4U2, and Persona Q. Hopefully we get something soon, but I'm OK with the way information has been distributed thus far; personally, I'd like this to be as fresh an experience as it possibly can be.

I hope they tone down the difficulty level in this game. I was really enjoying persona 4 on vita before I reached the bath house shadow boss. Also, they should get rid of the randomly generated dungeons

I feel the same, but I still think a handful of vague screenshots to at least show off the new art style are feasible.

Yeah! I know that if Atlus puts it out there, I'll probably
I WILL*
cave... I'd like to avoid watching anything on the character interaction (assuming it'll be a similar style to Persona 4's), because that was such a huge part of the game and should be experienced first-hand within the context of the game -- well, I think so, anyway. Regardless of the amount of footage we receive, this trio is not one to cut corners and their past work is enough to get me hype - any new footage is just icing on the cake. :-)
