How could PM Wario not be satisfying?? He has his Shoulder Charge, and it's the COOLEST move! He has his proper grabs! He has a butt stomp attack!
Basically, one of my favorite things about Brawl Wario is his playstyle of being a very defensive aerial and punishing character with really strong moves (though a few of them). His ground options are limited, and most of his tilts and Smash are best to get your opponent airborne (WHERE you want it to be). He's a perfectly realized and well designed character with plenty of options, and one of his best moves is the bike. The bike is a useful move in many situations because it aids his defense, recovery, approaching and can give Wario a really mean keepaway game with the tires. He's also a character where his moves have really great synergy with each other. No moves overshadows the other, and each have their own individual uses. Aside from DSmash anyway.

PM Wario feels so neutered to me in comparison. They tried to buff his ground options and offense, which is something the Shoulder Dash covered. In return though, it made his defense generally weaker, and he has a less...distinct playstyle. He's a lot closer to Jigglypuff in a way, but a bit more balanced (in the sense that he has a good ground game now but not as good of an air game as Puff). My biggest problem though is that the Shoulder Bash feels like pretty much the center of his playstyle. A lot of your objectives with PM Wario, I feel, is to try to connect a move to the Shoulder Bash as much as possible. It's a move that he relies on too much, hence why I don't find him as satisfying. The loss of the bike is unacceptable as well!

She was in the bottom tier in two out of the three games, her only good appearance (Melee) she was bottom of the C tier though she was technically in the top half of the roster so I'll give her that

12/12

32/38

That's pretty embarrassing she'll rank higher in this fan vote then she has ranked in any smash tier list
And? Link was garbage in every Smash game so far, yet he's also high on the list. People like characters for other reasons besides how good they are.

While I love Sakurai, I think you overestimate him. Remember that Toon Link uses modified versions of Link's moves, instead of using his Deku Leaf, Skull Hammer, or even the Wind Waker.

This is what disappoints me the most about Toon Link. The Legend of Zelda has so many different items that can be incorporated into a moveset that its criminal the most we get is a clone. I honestly wouldn't mind another Link character that uses a different set of items, there is just too much cool stuff not being used in a fight.

I'm still surprised he hasn't used his wand to fight..."Zelda Musou" shows how possible it is

Yep. Fox could be the worst character in every game and he would still be my favorite due to design and overall coolness factor as well as uniqueness.

I feel like this was his "answer" to fill the spot of Young Link.

I don't like it either, he is still the greatest *groan* character in Smash 4 thus far.

What do you mean? Pretty much all of Wario's moves are either taken from WarioWare or Wario Land.

Conceptually, Wario in Brawl is neither based on WarioWare or Wario Land.

The Chomp - Based on Wario World, certainly, but only loosely. It's definitely not the attack that people were hoping to see used, especially in how they executed it.
The Bike - An interesting recovery and attack, but it doesn't have anything to do with the actual gameplay of any Wario games.
The Fart - Stupid and from NOTHING.
Wario-Man - A good FS, but again, it's not based around the gameplay of any of his games.

How about Wario's signature butt stomp? The Shoulder Charge? How about we let Wario whip people with dripping snot (in reference to the microgame)?

Sakurai should have done one of two things:

A. A moveset based on the status effect power-ups found in Wario Land, as well as his innate abilities
B. A moveset based around microgames from the WarioWare series (but also stuff like the Shoulder Charge).

It felt like Sakurai focused way too much on "Wario's a gross guy", and based on the fact that he mentions how gross Wario is twice over in the trophy description - and IIRC doesn't even mention his Wario Land exploits - tells me that Wario isn't the WarioWare guy or the Wario Land guy, he's the stinky icky guy.

Yup, that's the problem with the original 12 and the victims of the melee clones. The original 12 basically keep their movesets, despite the fact that many improvements could be made. Then the melee clone fiasco happened, which would be fine, except for they all translated to brawl as heavily-modified-clones. Young Link and Ganondorf were victims from this. Were toon link/ ganondorf made FROM SCRATCH for brawl, then I highly suspect they would have vastly different, more franchise-inspired movesets. Toon link might have been majora's mask link, or at least used the deku leaf. Ganondorf... could have been anything. Oh well.

Smash is a very popular game outside of the demographic who gives a crap about tier lists. If you want to see characters ranked by how "good" they are, then...well, look at a tier list.

Bring back Young Link to fill a given clone role and then rework Toon Link perhaps? Or maybr that, but inversed?

God I couldn't have said it better myself. They ruined Wario. This is why at the end of the day I don't trust modders to know what they're doing. His shoulder dash is the only useful move now. I love the playstyle of vanilla brawl. the bike was crucial. So was his dair. It was a superb approach move.

Guys, Bowser sucks in both Melee and Brawl. I can't understand how he could be anyone's favorite character. There had better be a good reason for Bowser's popularity with SmashGAF.

I Main Melee Samus, She's still low their but deadly in the right hands.

No only was she weaker in brawl, but grossly floaty, slow and broke into ZSS that you couldn't switch out of. The split of Samus and ZSS was a god send.

New Samus is incredible, very happy to be able to Main again. So glad she's in at least the top 7.

I hugged the closest person to me when they announced the split. Samus is one of the only characters i play as in smash and she alone ruined brawl for me. I can't wait for this new Samus!!

It's weird how I don't really care at how they made up the majority of Wario's moveset yet I wouldn't mind if they tweaked Toon Link a bit. I guess it's since they went into a WarioWare-focused direction and I felt they did a great of capturing the look/feel of those games in the character.

Personally I don't feel that all the characters should completely homogenized to their source material so *shrug*

No. Wario is perfect, Ganondorf is great, and Toon Link isn't that bad. I'd be legit mad if they changed Wario, and pretty annoyed if they changed Dorf.

"Perfect"

"Barely bases itself on how Wario games actually play in even the slightest way"

EDIT: I really just don't see how Wario and "good" are related. His movement is based on the stupidest thing, and his most famous move - a shoulder charge, not hitting someone with a shoulder who's two inches in front of him - is completely absent for no reason whatsoever.

Wario Land got snubbed, but the idea that Wario is fine because he sort of kind of is based on something from WaqrioWare is silly.

Wow, I can't believe there's so much hate for the greatest swordsman to ever transcend the worlds that connect the Smash fighters together

I guess I'd be okay with a couple of move changes for those characters, but I wouldn't want their playstyles to go away.

I thought the Deku Leaf would be a great gliding tool for Toon Link, but since that mechanic's out...

I have no idea what you're talking about. He even has one or two moves directly from his older games, the rest perfectly represent his series. They nail WarioWare. He's honestly one of the best designed Brawl newcomers, as far as getting the tone of the games right goes.

They nailed WarioWare by ignoring literally the most important part of WarioWare?

I want to see Wario use Microgame elements as part of his moveset. The ideal WarioWare character for me is something completely alien to what he made in the end.

There are a lot of movesets and conceptual designs that would satisfy a Wario fan like me

"He sure is gross" is not what I would call a satisfying main theme for a character.

Well, the only Wario games that matter are represented fine :P

WarioWare is about farting?

I love Samus but I have never liked how she plays in Smash.
I'm hoping ZSS in Smash4 fixed my gripes with her in Brawl.

I like how see played in Melee, in brawl she was bearable. But Smash 64, good lord, what were they thinking! It felt like you were controlling a disjointed Robot.

Link should represent Adult Link from OoT, TP, SS...
Young Link should be You Link from OoT and Majora's Mask Link.
Toon Link is WW Link, but could be more Wind Waker-y.

I'm fine with 64 Samus. Brawl Samus is weak and can't kill and holy shit why is my opponent not dead yet he's at 215% and it's like my attacks are just tickling him.
