Smash was oddly clairvoyant with Samus. The flamethrower and homing missiles both appeared in Smash before they showed up in an actual Metroid game.

Damn, just saw the price of amiibos here in Australia. I can afford to get them all, but I'd rather spend money on something else.

I'm going to start listing who I want and hopefully I'll stay strong and not stray from what I've listed.

Maybe that's why alt costumes aren't really huge this time. You have one alt that's a different character and your character has lost half of their colors.

Looking at the Brawl palette swaps, I'm not sure what much you could do for some characters. I mean with Kirby you could make him orange or purple I guess. Same with Game and Watch. What would you do with Luigi's other two colors? That NES Golf alt except green?

An easy one of course would be the black and white Yoshis. Black and White Yoshis may seem simple, but it would be a really cool addition that ties into the games.

- Can you get Miis custom-made?

Also, Amiibos are not Smash exclusive. You have to consider the other games. Mario Kart and Party are getting them so if you are getting them for display purposes you have other options for characters appearing in those games.

They said they'd love to come up with a system for custom Mii models, but at the moment it is a pipe dream.

That's kinda like saying Wario was a playable character since Smash Bros 64.

They should have given that color a pink nose in Smash 64. With everything having so few polygons, it'd look pretty close to Wario.

I don't think the influence was unidirectional - due to the influential nature of Smash, I wouldn't be surprised if those elements were inspired directly by it. If it could bring Kid Icarus back from the grave, I don't doubt it could have inspired some items in a Metroid game.

The same one that had the character lock icon on all star mode that yesterday most people decided confirmed the full roster wasn't in that build/unlocked? If that leak is also from the esrb video I don't think its any more or less confirmation then we had yesterday.

It's a memorably English and visually distinctive property. I think it's just an easy association to make, especially for a read-only joke.

For example, as an American, I have also heard of "Big Ben." I assume he is some sort of heavy-set cartoon character or something. I would educate myself but I am American and cannot.

I don't think there's anything tying that leak to the ESRB video.
