He wasn't as highly requested as some, but I saw plenty of people hoping for his inclusion. I was on #teamaltcostume until Lucina was revealed.

While I don't entirely disagree with you, I personally think of Samus as being less of a muscular-physical strength oriented person and more of a gymnast type. If you think about it, her abilities lie more in flexibility, agility and acrobatic talent. You rarely see Samus engaging in acts of sheer physical strength, even though there's probably no doubt that she's strong in this area. You more see her jumping, running, and using judo-type fighting moves (using momentum and shifting the opponent's weight against them), even in the suit. The suit adds the strength and power, but her body would need to be trained in quick reflexes and pure agility. There's also the idea that the Chozo DNA probably augments her physical capabilities without her needing to add on body mass.
That being said, her current zero suit design is still lacking in the muscular design you'd expect from someone with that kind of background. The aim is definitely sex appeal over rational, functional design. I like the picture you posted, though. I see her at about the similar build as a strong tennis player, which if you look around, that's still pretty jacked in the right areas.
On a slightly unrelated note: hot damn I love that Dark Samus alt.
They should've stayed in the love hotel business.

Even just talking about the character themselves, Dr. Mario is far better than Dark Pit.
Dark Pit is literally an alternate colour, I'm so pissed at his inclusion.
I know it's not a case of "either or" because Dark Pit is a clone, but seeing him on there without seeing character staples like Ice Climbers annoys me to no end.
Wolf or Lucas would have been better as well, it just baffles me how Dark Pit made it onto the roster as a character, he's so shit.
I've never had to use the word flabbergasted, but it's the perfect word for his inclusion, it just gives me a headache.

Dark Samus and Light Samus are the only Samuses, as far as I am concerned. Pretty awesome that every character gets 8! I have a feeling there will be some really cool ones for some unexpected characters.

edit: Also, "character-wise", Pretty much everyone from kid icarus has more personality than Mario, so unless you're talking strictly about physical appearance, I don't see the big deal.

I actually wasn't mad at Wolf or Lucas' Inclusion in Brawl, they made sense to me, they weren't shit characters and they have good designs.
However Dark Pit turns out, I'm going to be mad, I just can't see it any other way.
If he's very similar to Pit, he's taking up a space on the roster, not too bad but he's still a shit character so I would have rather he not be there as anything but an alt so I wouldn't have to look at him on the CSS.
If he's a pseudo clone, then they actively spent more time on another kid icarus character than adding in established pseudo-clones like Lucas or Wolf.
And if for some incredibly unlikely reason (sakurai bias) he isn't actually a clone, I'd be pissed that they spent that much effort on what is a recolour of Pit.

Dark Pit actually wasn't that high, he was #16 behind Hatsune Miku, Waluigi, and Viridi.
But I'M someone who wanted Dark Pit on the roster.
Dark Pit is not an alternate colour. He's his own character like Shadow is to Sonic and a totally independent entity from Pit.
Doctor Mario is Mario with a coat, which is much much worse.

I play smash bros as a party game 95% of the time. I'm the best in my household, which isn't saying much, so nobody wants to play 'seriously' with me, so I never get any 'real' practice.

No, I just hate Dark Pit and have no idea why people would want him - and I'm a person who wants more villains in smash more than anything, just... not that rubbish.

I just don't get this line of thought. You'd rather have an alternate costume than another character, even if that character only has slightly changed up abilities?
I can't say I'm particularly salty about any of the newcomers, although, and I've said this, I'm still somewhat disappointed that Greninja was chosen to be the next Pokemon newcomer, and I am slightly salty that three franchises (Mii, Wii Fit, Xenoblade) that didn't exist until after Custom Robo have already gotten reps, and Custom Robo still hasn't gotten one.

Yeah, that actually looks pretty nice. And I'm still holding out hope that they tweaked the Skyloft costume (another thing to praise Based Female Designer on perhaps?)
