I so badly want the Koopalings rumor to be true that it's causing me acute distress just thinking about it. I don't want to get my hopes up for it, yet we have every reason to get hyped -- that rumor has been 100% accurate so far, between the five Monado Arts and the way Bowser Jr. works and the presence of Dark Pit, Dr. Mario and Duck Hunt, and so on. The rumor also mentioned how every character gets eight alts, which we now know to be true. And seven Koopalings + Bowser Jr. equals eight.... We've also seen a trophy of Larry in his own version of the Clown Car, something that never appeared in the Mario games before. It's all coming together, but I'm -still- trying to check my expectations. I mean, Bowser Jr. + all seven Koopalings is dream-come-true tier of fan service goodness.
I think its safe to get hyped at this point bud.

The Koopalings in Smash 4 is truly the only thing that would really give me some hype for the roster. So if it were to somehow not be true... I'd be heartbroken.

Metroid for the most part isn't about characters. It's mostly just Samus exploring an uninhabited world shooting monster aliens.Metroid never ever appealed to me. I don't know why, I've given the series like 5 chances at least and not one entry has held my interest. So, obviously, I never get that far in the games.
Are there any actual characters other than Samus, Ridley or the baby Metroid that Smash could use that aren't just "Samus in 'x' outfit"?
Edit: I realize the series' greatness and I do think it's cool! I just can't get into them

All seven Koopalings as alts... That seems -too- good. Like the kind of thing you'd ask for but never reasonably expect a human being to implement.
The Koopalings were the only addition to the Mario Kart roster that ever made me hyped. I -love- those guys.
Or 1 real Alt for all characters.. I want more models in my game D:

It's also a heck of a lot more interesting than Baby Bowser. I feel like you can't have him and ignore the Koopalings.
I have to ask though, why does Bowser even have a clown car to begin with? Like, where did that even come from? I know Mario games are already pure nonsense, but for a guy that has flying airships and a volcano castle, a clown car always felt like a weird choice.

Seriously, I can't believe it's happening. I actually always thought Bowser Jr would be a really neat character, and I wanted him if his mechs could be a part of his moveset in some way. I can't stress how much I love this idea of him fighting on the Koopa Clown Car.
Bowser Jr seriously won me over. Between the gameplay we saw and the koopalings alt rumor, I'm gonna go ahead and say he's by far my favorite newcomer. Can't wait to get my hands on him.

Nerdy nitpick: Bowser Jr. and Baby Bowser are two separate characters. Baby Bowser is literally Bowser as a baby, back when Mario was still a baby on Yoshi's Island. Bowser Jr. is Bowser's son. Bowser Jr. is in the one in Smash Bros., along with the seven Koopalings as alts, if the rumor is to be believed.

Honesty, I still haven't played KI: U but I really loved Wrath of The Reset Bomb. I didn't expect it to sound the way it did, and I definitely cannot wait to hear it once I get the 3DS ver. of the game.I already loved the look of the stage. ^^
They are, I knew this, and I still wrote it wrong. It's like Issac and Isaac, which I still mess up despite him being my most wanted newcomer.

I'm a little late to the Ridley argument, but I say keeping him as a boss/stage hazard is the best way to do him justice. It's a dilemma for Sakurai, I'm sure, but I think he's made the right call. Metroid has just backed heritself into a corner as far as supporting characters go, and there's just not much Sakurai can do.
Seeing that interview about how Greninja was conceived with Smash in mind makes me hope that maybe the next Metroid game can make efforts to make supporting characters with Smash in mind as well. I mean there's Adam and Anthony but they really weren't fleshed out in any way.
I really wish that original rumor of a Gamepad controlled Stage Hazard was true. I feel like that would be a really great compromise.

Yep, Same here. I really love those Koopalings. I have a huge nostalgia feeling with those characters because I love those characters from Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. Also they are being playable characters in Mario Kart 8 is a huge bonus to me as well.
I could imagine that they might borrow the models from Mario Kart 8 or New Mario Bros just for alts.
Let her base be mobile like the Koopa Clown Car and it's fine. There are plenty of odd body shapes already (ROB being the most obvious one), so a giant brain a bit smaller than Bowser isn't that out there. Let her use robotic tentacles or telepathy to pick up items. Make her monster form her final smash.
You gotta fix that batty. Go play now! :x

It wasn't broken in the first place.
They also tried fixing it prime 3 but I disliked that part of prime 3 too.
I just prefer the whole Samus versus the world alone (or virtually alone as in MP 2)aspects of other games much more than the narrative style I other m.

If the Koopalings are alts, there will absolutely be renders for them on the Character Select Screen. Not icons, but you'll see the renders when you switch between the alts on the character portrait at the bottom.
I only have the original 3DS not XL. So I can't comment that. But the controls on the original 3DS gave me hand cramps sometimes but I enjoyed the game overall.

I look forward to looking down at my 3DS and seeing this, and not knowing what character to choose because I literally love all of them:
I saw a few people freaking out about this picture or whatever and just full disclosure to avoid any future misunderstandings or people trying to use this as a legit leak or something:
That was a youtube guy's mockup of a 'clean' version of the roster's art, which I put onto my 3DS just to see how good it looked with the character icons at that size, on a real 3DS screen. Ain't nothin' real about that. (other than the characters that leaked, those are all real. gonna main dark pit)
The biggest things wrong with it are that Dark Pit is just a flipped, recolored Pit (his real art is unique) and Bowser Jr is some stock art from another game instead of his actual clown car art.
