So the Xbox One launches today in Japan...

I think the Euro launch will be just as bad.

I was googling for news about the Dutch launch in two day. I got this article a Dutch business site: http://www.entertainmentbusiness.nl...ameretailer-sceptisch-over-xbox-one-lancering

Independent Dutch game stores haven't heard anything from MS. There are no tv, radio or magazine ads, there's no effort to put display stands in shops so people can see and play Xbox One games. You can't even pre-order them because they don't know if they'll get any from MS. Instead, they'll go on importing them from Germany. They all complain about the lack of any hype for the Dutch launch (which is to be expected since the console was unofficially for sale for months now)

And then there's this hilarious video (mostly in Dutch) from a Dutch gaming site: http://www.xgn.nl/video/1804/wat-koopt-nederland-een-ps4-of-xbox-one
Same here in Belgium, atleast we get a launch event :P

In Hungary we had a pretty good deal: Kinectless w/ FIFA15, Destiny, Ghosts and Forza for ~415 EUR.

On some forums I've seen people sell their preorders too, so it's kind of the opposite of your situation.

really? thats what you understand? If I'm not mistaken, I think you are here longer than what is reflected in your post..

Dude, just enjoy the ride. Xbox Japan launch threads are always god-tier on GAF. If you can't take the gifs, better stay out.

Can't wait to hear how many units of Ones and 360's they shipped this month thanks to these new countries. Bet you they shipped more this month than last and cant be happier with the increase in units shipped compared to August.

I know that GAF is GAF, but GAF is not about lame jokes and trolls. Yes, it happens at any forum, GAF too, but that is not what GAF by essence is. GAF is a mature forum to discuss about games... Some really fun stuff appears here 1st indeed, but the joke is fun when it doesnt derail the thread or become a troll festival.

Wow, no fun, huh?

You're avatar used to throw-me off...I think the color might be wrong.

Back when the original xbox launched in Japan, they interviewed a guy waiting in line who said he was also buying a game loosely translated as "embarrassment molester hell" and console warz ran with it. Sony fans are called cockroaches because PS2-4 are shiny and black; Nintendo fans are called pigs or pregnant because of a stereotypical body type, and the word for pregnant shares pronunciation with an abbreviation for "Nintendo believer"

Well you learn something new every day. Or today, three new things. O_O

The fact they're still there, 3 gens in, launching a 3rd attempt means they're trying. They just know that buying exclusives, funding big games, huge ads and events doesn't work. So games didn't work, money didn't work. What works? They don't know, yet here they are, trying again.

The Xbox 360 sold over 1.5 million in Japan, the original was nowhere near that, so their initial strategy with the Xbox 360 worked, the Xbox One however is a large step back in just trying to even match that.

I'm planning to pick my preorder (Titanfall bundle) up after work today at the local Wondergoo. Even if I went first thing when the store opens, there might be only one other guy there buying it with me, vs. the whopping five guys I saw buying the PS4 when it launched. Console gaming seems pretty dead in Japan.

Given that it's launching like... today.. we don't know what their trying yet. I do agree that they spent a great deal more money for the X360 launch. Probably too much considering how it turned out.

They're forza spectators. lol

This is what I get for just reading the text of the post and not what was actually quoted. To save a little bit of face I do wonder how much of MS marketshare in Japan is from our military and americans going over there to teach/live

Yeah whatever, I already explained what I think its funny (and why many of those joke posts arent).

About my avatar, theres nothing wrong with it. Its a mix of one of the most impressive FPS games I've ever played and my previous hype before inFamous SS that resulted in a fun avatar at the end. I like it.

Hard to believe that some people still think Xbone is good for nothing.
That Forza 5 crowd picture and the photo of the empty chairs made me laugh really hard. Thanks folks, funniest thread in weeks!

Huh? Majority of 360 sales happened slowly after they stopped trying. I mean it may have helped a little bit but I think console decline is the primary obstacle for xbox one sales.

I would say 200-500k only.

Lol.

Japan gets some crazy bundle to try to encourage people, nice for the three people on the entire landmass who are into Xbox. (although at the rate the console market is shrinking in Japan, soon PS5 will attract like 4 people)
