Bio
Samus Aran is an intergalactic bounty hunter and the main protagonist of the Metroid series. Orphaned during a Space Pirate raid led by the fierce Ridley on her home of K-2L, Samus was adopted by the mysterious Chozo and taken to Zebes where she was infused with their DNA and raised to become a warrior. Once she reached adulthood, Samus joined the Federation Police where she served under the Commanding Officer Adam Malkovich, but she ultimately left to become a Bounty Hunter, though she was nonetheless recruited by the Galactic Federation on many occasions. Armed in her cybernetic Power Suit, Samus has become famous for her accomplishments on missions others thought impossible. Her most renowned achievements are the destruction of the Space Pirate base on Zebes, her role in ending the Galactic Phazon crisis, her extermination of the Metroid species, and her disobedience of orders at the BSL station where she chose to destroy the deadly X Parasites rather than turn them over to the Galactic Federation.

Oh damn. That's good news. Really bugged me that Marth of all characters got hit by that, seemed unnecessary.
This bodes well for Olimar, too.

Check the Twitch link I posted above. The discussion in general is pretty interesting too, they're trying to get started on hammering out ideas for how to approach Smash 4 tournaments as tournament organizers (drafting a preliminary move set).

Samus? Color me surprised. She's kinda fun, and Metroid's popular, but I know a lot of people don't find her to be too fun due to her odd physics and weird movesets and grabs.

Wait for her to learn a few new arts first. Then if you ever plan on using her controlling her yourself is the best option. The AI isn't exactly great when controlling her itself.

Hey, someone needs to stick up for her.

I would, but despite having been here for 2 1/2 months, I'm a junior, so I'm gonna get swept right into the flood; honestly, I'd be really, really okay with Daisy being her own slot in Smash and only support Rosalina getting in over her because she offers Stand-esque fighting.

I know it's not happening, but I'm really, REALLY hoping. Even if they're like "Yo, so she was so last minute, it was either delay the game or make her early DLC," I'd be so down for some Bayo.

Yeah, I lost to heath. I bet that we would get less then 50 characters for smash. Leak killed it for me, but hey, I aint mad. It just means more characters for us to use!
 
Knew Samus / ZSS was probably going to come up soon. Guessing the top 6 will be Fox, Captain Falcon, Link, Sheik, Ness, and Marth. Really curious to find out who the no-vote character was.
I will feel like an idiot for not voting if it ends up being Donkey Kong.

I've never seen anyone really play with her ever.

At least ZSS seems to be changing that in Smash4
 
Samus is literally the one character in all the Smash games I wish I could get used to and play. I love the character so much, but her floatiness always turned me off. If there's anything about Other M I legitimately respect, it was their attempts at showing that she was a fast lightning bruiser in the suit and I wish if more of that could be reflected in her Smash design.

Maybe Zero Suit Samus ver.4 is more my style.

It's a mix of the their original games and how well they were implemented in Smash. Though, I actually know quite a few people who use both Samus variants; I use standard Samus quite often.
 
Yay I got quoted. Oh and Samus too yeah whatever....

I really wish I played as her at NWS back at E3. She looks a bit different in videos.

Fox is gonna be #1. Best character.
 
I used to play Samus a good bit in Melee but didn't like her in Brawl at all, and I really disliked the implementation of her final smash forcing a character swap. Really happy 4 is changing that.

Glad to hear it there are making changes for the better. Sakurai, plz don't forget to copy and paste those changes to Lucina's code (unless you're using Marth as a base class for Lucina which may have that covered). Thanks.
 
Wait, please don't tell me there's already some sort of movement to ban custom movesets from tournaments? Seriously, customs can and will add so much to the competitive scene if we'd just allow them to.

I use Samus quite often...probably my 5th most played character both in Melee and Brawl.

Will be interesting to see how my adventures online go.
Since I only have local scenes and friends to really see.
SmashGAF alone should help me in seeing all the different characters actually played.
 
They're talking about the practicality of using custom move sets on D1's twitch thing. Everyone seems for it, but do want to make sure people don't take too long.

I think that "movement," if it does exist, is saying it because Sakurai said he wouldn't be balancing the custom moves. Which on one hand, of course you'd ban them. On the other hand... Metaknight isn't banned.

also....im starting to think the Veteran of that day with 0 votes is probably Bowser.
 
BTW has the Bowser Jr. Neorice avatar been claimed? I wasnt around to claim it but if its open I would loooove to have it.

I have said this before but depending on how ban happy or dismissive the competitive scene is.. we may have a variety of new "competitive scenes" on our hands. Custom movesets will be liked and it will have some traction. If its ignored we will see people getting together elsewhere and developing their scene.

He actually touched on this stating that the build at PAX was the E3 build yet again but for whatever reason, he was able to consistently do things that seemed like a big nope in the games he played at E3.

Keitaro (another Smash commentator/tourney organizer) chimed in and mentioned that Marth has some f-air autocancels in a Brawl manner with footage, but there's still more to the story here.

Either way, I'm just happy that it seems like things are in play for the characters to excel at what they do best.
