Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XV: Kübler-Ross Edition

Wait, please don't tell me there's already some sort of movement to ban custom movesets from tournaments? Seriously, customs can and will add so much to the competitive scene if we'd just allow them to.

The competitive scene wants to embrace them but they're wary both for the sake of time management if the custom screen is unwieldy and not readily accessible and also because they don't want unbeatable jank resulting from the potential combinations.

They're leaning towards going with them though so I'm excited.

Samus was my Melee main. Then she was obliterated in Brawl. I am not hoping for much right now.

Sakurai said she is better in this game.
Believe in Sakurai.

About there being different "builds" of the game despite what Sakurai has said: my guess would be that Sakurai just refers to the collective set of "event builds" as "the E3 build", as it's basically the same except with some balance tweaks and stuff. A reason for this could be preventing people from expecting huge differences between "builds" and then being disappointed about the roster/menus/whatever being the same as what we've seen since E3. Kind of how software versioning works: small tweaks don't merit bumping up an app's version number, just the revision code, like going from v1.2.3 to v1.2.4. In this case Sakurai's just "saving us the trouble" of worrying about those small revisions as he think people won't care/notice/could be confused about what to expect in a "new build".

Oh your joke is soooo damn original and funny, Ha ha look I can't stop laughing /not

If you want us to accept you you gotta try harder, fucking junior

I, uh, this is a weird meltdown. Pay no attention to him, new guy.

Wario is definitely gonna be on the top 6
I hope!

Also I voted DK lol

You all better not be giving me false hope that DK is still in the running. lol

Wario also might have a good chance now that you mention it. I'm not so sure about Ness as I was with the other 5.

What with school and the like I don't get to lurk here as much as I did before. I completely missed the Oric newcomer today. Who (or what) was it?

Samus huh, nice. Smash aside Metroid Prime was my first foray into the Metroid series and what a jump it was. Amazing stuff and that trilogy is still one of my favorite games ever.

Wedding Dress Lucina >>> Princess Dress Lucina

she's still cute in it so it's all cool

I love juniors, I was even one at some point! It's just that everyone here is so gentle that I think someone needs to shit on them to balance things a little bit

Also, in regards to nobody playing Samus, despite her 64 and Brawl awfulness, she's fantastic in Project M. Connecting with the Ice Beam versions of her smash attacks just feels so good.

Yeah, I think Bayonetta 2's release date is Sept 20 so that would make sense.

Only Nintendo would have a huge period of nothing, smash bros, and then a platinum game that will definitely be lost in the hype for smash bros immediately after.

In regards to Samus: I voted for her, but that's because I mained ZSS in brawl. I wasn't voting for regular Samus.

Is that what you've all been calling it? I feel like I've been missing out :/

Smash community comes up with a lot of weird names.

I used to think I was the only one who called this the Knee of Justice

Then I found out the rest of the internet calls it that too. Totally hipster now, gonna have to start calling it The Justice Kneel or something.

I used to main her at Brawl but that's because of ZSS of course

eh, the way I act towards them is the same way I act towards anybody else so I guess it somewhat bothers me

I'm just kidding, even that was tongue in cheek, I adore SmashGAF, it's the nicest community I've ever been part of, and that's because everyone here is so nice, it's just so perfect

Custom moves could be cool but also completely OP, it's hard to say now. I think it's too early to really talk about things like that without getting hands on.

We'll just have to see, but with custom moves I think it could help with the balancing/character improvement ala PM.

LOL is that seriously the Japanese release date?

Only Nintendo indeed.

Same company that released nothing for like, six months, and then decided to release A Link Between Worlds and Super Mario 3D World on the same exact day.

And the company that thought it'd be a great idea to release F-Zero GX, which was already a struggling franchise at that point, on the same day as Soul Calibur II: Featuring Link.

I thought we were past this 'fucking junior' crap years ago. Calm down my friend

See, I believe that custom movesets are inherently balanced. If there's a specific move palette that's slightly better than the rest, there's also going to be people trying to figure out what other move palettes out there best counter it. Soon you'll see a sudden shift from palette A to palette B. When palette B becomes popular, soon you'll see palette C start to surface. This is the ever-changing meta game that keeps most communities alive. Has a specific term in gaming jargon, too, but I don't really remember what it's called. Perfect imbalance or something like that.

Smashdudes, whilst I know that Namco Bandai is helping to make this game, which company is the main developer behind Smash 3DS and WiiU? Is it being made in NB offices or primarily in Nintendo/Sora Ltd. locations? Do we know this information??
