Hey TTV peeps - the Players Club challenge just ended and we placed somewhere high enough to get a bronze roof. So woo!

The new challenge is Dragon Poker, which I have on my fifth floor, so feel free to hit up my tower if you don't have it. I'm not already in the list but my friend code is GCHT.

Was just getting ready to say, I have no friends with Dragon Poker!

Which brings me to my next question. How do you earn cash for the rankings in Players Club? Because last event, on Pyramid Poker, I recall an instance I racked up a good 500 bux in winnings but the rankings didn't update me but maybe 10 or 20 bux (I can't remember). How does it work exactly? Just some arbitrary amount for winning?

Remy, coming to drop 35 chips in Dragon Poker!!

Also, Nimblebit must not like Donald Trump... multiple jokes/jabs at him in this game, lol.

One of the less "offensive" and more funny ones:

Thanks Remy. On it.

I am really enjoying TTV. I'm a terrible person.

Star Wars was overly complicated, and it really didn't click with me. I'm surprised with myself, cos I love me some whored out, arbitrarily branded Star Wars shit, and I also love Tiny Tower.

This just seems like a refined version of the first one. I like the use of the lobby, and the switch to the "application process" for jobs so that actual residents are more of a money-making commodity. The Vegas setting is a perfect for the formula. And the idea of using a third currency, chips, to support the premium currency, bux, is an absolute trumph of design for this sort of game, which I initially feared might be overly complicated.

I hope Nimblebit support it for a long time. I also hope that enough people are paying them money. Personally, I haven't had the slightest inclination to buy any IAPs, probably as a direct result of the sheer abundance of chips. When the time comes that I choose to purchase one of their packs, it sure as hell won't be on bux.

Nimblebit are the absolute kings of these classic freemium world-building time-wasters. They had me at Pocket Frogs, I annihilated Pocket Planes and Trains, and they've dragged me kicking and screaming back to Tiny Tower. I would like to take this opportunity to rally support and encourage y'all to get the fuck on this. I want a silver roof, dammit!

Anyway. Long live the king.

I fought for the longest time to like Tiny Death Star, because I too love Star Wars to the point where I'm dropping a lot of money into SWFC, the SW CCG on the App Store, but I finally stopped playing it about a month ago. You're right, too complicated and not user friendly. Vegas just feels user friendly.

Well, all except one thing. As I mentioned earlier, I still feel like I'm missing something. What am I supposed to do with the people in the lobby? I frequently have a full lobby, and there are times where I can't put them into the suites. And I don't put them in jobs because the new level growth is so slow. I know you will suggest to cycle out sucky people and put higher numbered people in the slots, but I've already done that. You'd think you could put them the suites to make money? And has anyone noticed that all the people I've seen for a dream job so far have had 5 or less affinities in that given (color) profession? Does this build as you go, say if you get a level with all dream jobbers, does a new one come with a better number at that dream job?

Man... my iPod Touch G4 can't run shit for games.

Only thing I've ran well recently in terms of long full titles is Ghost Trick
FF Tactics looks like it would run fine on it but havent got into gameplay.
Tried Dual Destinies but the app just crashes all the time.

Any recommendations for older ipods?

Okay, so...

The only people who should be in your lobby are VIP's you intend to use. Never keep guests in there. When a guest comes in, either swap them into a job because they are better qualified or remove them from the lobby. You should only be using the lobby to store VIP's.

The quickest way to make money in this game is through guests staying in the apartments. Upgrade these floors as much as you can! At level 10, apartments pay out 8,750 per guest every 2.5 hours or so. That's a lot of income - each floor of 3 guests is therefore worth 26,250 every couple of hours.

Ideally, you want to keep your apartments filled at all times. It's even worth paying bux to fill them. The best VIP's are therefore the checkout guests and travel agents as they can cash out the guests and re-fill the rooms immediately, giving you instant cash boosts.

:)

It's weird, I only got 5 chips. :/
Don't know why.

The only think I think needs a redesign in TTV is Suites.
They are a chore to fill up, an don't have a benefit attached to them.
I guess they wanted to make the elevator useful this time, but I don't like this solution.

Having a crowded lobby doesn't bother me much. I tend to keep there only bitizens that have a dream job for the next type of floor I'm about to build, to maximize chances of getting one.
The rest, I kick them out or put them in their dream job if I have that floor already built.

Going to pick up and iPhone 6 when they release later this month. I went android for about 16 months. Are there any iOS games I should check out that I may have missed in that timeframe? I'm into Puzzle, Strategy, RPG, and Sim games. Dislike games that are f2p but make you wait x amount of time to progress if you don't want to pay.

So Valiant Hearts ending pack IAP for $8.99.

I don't get it?

Yeah what is with that?

If it is what you would think it is, then that is pretty awful. If it isn't what you think it is, then what were they thinking naming it that? Might as well add a "The game will crash constantly unless you pay us more bwahahaha IAP $25" that actually gives you .... well whatever people who buy that stuff would think is justified.

The other option would be to actually mention it is episodic and spell it all out clearly, but I guess that would hurt sales or something.

I bought Duke Dashington but in like half hour I saw myself clearing almost world 3 of 4. Is a tad too easy -or I am too good at this-, but its really good and solid dashing platforming. Each level on its own is a small puzzle that can be done in under 10 seconds, and you have to be fast and have reflexes. There are 4 world with 100 levels in total and the gameplay mechanics just keep getting better and better. It reminds me of (because of how it controls and how fast you have to react) to one of the greatest games ever: The Last Rocket but more bite-sized. All in all, Duke Dashington sucks you in and doesnt let go. Pretty addictive. If you like VVVVVV, go for it, at 1$ is a very good deal and a lot of fun. Recommended. GameCenter and achievements are coming soon according to the developer on twitter.

As far as I understood (have yet to buy) Valiant Hearts is 4.99 for the first chapter, then you can buy the other ones at 3.99 or a 'discounted pack' at 8.99.
IE: buying the full game out of the bat with all episodes is 13.98 or 16.96 if you buy each episode individually.

Seems fine to me (all chapters are available immediately, no need to wait).

The price is fine, the issue is the itunes page makes zero mention of any of that.
Which normally isn't a problem for a F2P game, because in the worst case you waste some downloads before getting asked to take out your wallet.

But $6.50? I'd think a little bit of a heads up would be nice.

Aaaaa I see!!!
Didn't check out even their itunes page but yes...they should mention the price is for the initial chapter only, I'm sure many people would think it's for the whole game.
I can already see a lot of 1 star reviews saying they are thieves asking money to continue the game...something they could easily avoid with just a statement in the description.
I didn't even know the game was originally divided in chapter too...actually I do not know almost anything about the game but the trailer and a lot of friends hyped me about it.

There's a good 10 or so OPs you can easily check out and see a bunch of games you missed, the most notable ones get highlighted in each OP, so I'd suggest doing that first. It also depends on how much you've played games outside iOS, like Dragon Quest V just got released a month ago (and a few other big RPGs earlier), and it's a pretty nice port. XCOM for example is also on iOS. Just follow this thread and get an app that tracks popular games like mentioned in the OP (I find the touch arcade app to highlight a nice set of games not always mentioned here). There's a bunch of great strategy games for sure though, once you start entering the card/board game genre a bit more.

Downloading Valiant Hearts as we speak...know almost nothing about the game.

Will report.

I now hope The Banner Saga is scheduled for end of September.

Selfish bastard! I counter hope your hope with my hope that it will be next week!

Though I have a huge backlog to go through too...

Valiant Hearts impressions.

Short version: go buy it.

:D

1 hour in I already bought the full package.
It's an interactive story so far, with a killer audio-visual presentation...very touching and informative (tons of real life infos, Battle of the Bulge style).
I'm loving it so far, really loving it.

As for the gameplay, do not expect (so far at least) huge interactions or puzzles...you move from scene to scene uncovering this touching story (I already know I'll cry...I'm weak) with little interactions like throwing objects (Angry Birds style), distracting enemies, timing your movements etc...
I doubt anyone will ever use the hints that are included apparently somewhere.

The package is incredibly sleek, on iPad it feels like a window on the First World War, represented by a melancholic and very serious cartoon.
Graphics are gorgeous in full retina...screenshots doesn't even do justice to the game...tons of cool animations.
iCloud supported too, and the game is fully localized (even in Italian, and very well too....something rare).

War is cruel.

!!!!!!!!!

Siltherine (Battle Academy, Panzer Corps...) just bought Shandeoah Studios (Battle of the Bulge, Drive on Moscow...)

When I need to check on Tiny Tower Vegas without sound I realize how big of a part the sound effects play in keeping me coming back. All the tchck click clack ka-chings are so satisfying.

Holy fuck... not sure if this is good or bad

They're both awesome studios, but I dunno

edit: also at this point I think we should have a dedicated Tiny Tower Vegas thread, seems like every other post is about that game. Anyone wanna make it?

Posted in the MFi controller thread:

I can confirm it's down to £19.99 on Amazon UK too.

I got all excited for a minute thinking I could use it for emulators and then I realised my iPhone drinks battery like Kent Paul drinks bucky (can barely get through a day at work, mostly due to the fact that my office is in a reception blackspot) so I wouldn't have much use for it. It's pretty boss though.... I could convince myself... only £20...

argh!

Not sure what to think either.
Love both but I have an edge towards Shanendoah...and Battle of the Bulge is still my preferred strategic war-game (over DoW and DF too).

I always hoped for a Battle of the Bulge rules/engine game set in D-Day.

Or something where you can use U-Boats.

What is this blue present in the corner that I cannot click in TTV?
There's a chip inside from another player that visited your Tower and played at one of the floors. Should be able to click it though, maybe it glitched and restarting the app will help.

Read this post of mine. I think you've completely missed the point of suites. They are the main money generator in the game.

Wow, Battle Riders looks fun! Hmmm... I might buy it.

BTW, has anyone here played Pac-Man Friends? It's a bit expensive, but it looks fun.

yeah I'm really enjoying it, the controls are very clever though they dont feel super precise to me (having to do a side swipe and then an up swipe for example)

I'm going on an extended overseas trip soon and want some very long, in-depth iPad games to play in my downtime. Anybody have an suggestions that might fit the bill? I've never played Baldur's Gate or II, are those iPad versions any good? What about the iPad versions of KotOR?

I've only played it for about an hour or so, but the iPad version of KOTOR is pretty great so far. But I have heard that Swoop Bike racing is a bit challenging based on how the controls are, but I haven't gotten to those myself yet to confirm.

I think they even updated it recently to have controller support, but I haven't tried it yet with that.

A damn good release coming tonight:

Counterspy - $4.99
Stop a crazed superpower from launching deadly nuclear missiles in this action stealth side-scrolling game set during the Cold War.

As a budding Agent for C.O.U.N.T.E.R, jump into action, stealthily sabotage dastardly plans and deceptively maintain world peace.
CounterSpy™ is packed with slick, stylized visuals that capture the spirit and feel of the era complementing equally smooth side‐scrolling cover‐based shooting gameplay.

The game utilizes procedural content generation so missions are always changing to offer something new and challenging. Discover blueprints and dossiers that give you access to new, powerful weapons and features.

Yeah, the game's got issues but I'm enjoying the Vita version regardless. It's not a pure stealth game, though, more of an action/stealth blend.

Any rumours on whether either iphone 6 model will be able to run iPad-only apps? Like, I'd probably sell my 5S and ruin myself financially to get a 6 at 5.5" if it could play Hearthstone.

Heads up.

If you get Valiant Hearts and play towards the end of first chapter, you will be given a 1 hour time frame to buy the whole game 45% off.
Dunno if it's just for today or what, but the whole game costs around 10 euros doing so.

Game is fantastic btw...lot more interactions and puzzles later on.

The only thing I'm really worried is that if the dog dies, I'll cry for a week.

Swoop bike racing is fine, controller support is the cherry on top - actually what convinced me to buy it again for iPad after owning it on PC. I'm slowly but surely making my way through it. This is the first time playing through the series so I'm loving it, it's so great. I really hope they can pull off a KOTOR II port...

Valiant Hearts is really amazing. I've finished the game and... tears were shed (No spoilers here :) ). The soundtrack is nothing short of magnificent.

Yeah I'm loving every minute of it, the more I play the more interactions there are too.
Music is truly fantastic.

I have a strange problem tough, this game only.
If I use my BT headset, there is a constant static that repeats itself.
No problems with cord headphones or speaker.
It's just this game.

Any ideas?
