I keep hearing about a dota-style game on iOS. Anybody know what it is called?

I have never even seen a video of games like this but I am curious.

Whoa, Square Enix released a game with Latin American themes earlier this week. A while ago I heard they were interested in Brazilian devs but I didn't know about this. It's called Ultimo Carnaval and it's free, I'll check it out later.

I just deleted over 10 games of my device. Good games that I never manage to finish and didn't touch it for months.

Felt good. I was so stressed about getting new games and finishing my backlog. Well, now I finished them, just like that. If you are like me, just let it go, I say. Now I only have a handful of games and from now on will focus on the special stuff. No time for good but not great anymore.

And speaking of special games, just finished the first chapter of Valiant Hearts. Brilliant stuff. Bought the rest of the episodes but can't download them right now, ugh.

Seriously, get this game guys. There's nothing mind blowing about it gameplay wise, but it's just so captivating and touching.

It feels good deleting freemium stuff you think you're invested in but actually aren't and getting it off of your device releases a hold over what you play and makes you feel so much better.

I tend to discover a lot of upcoming games that most sites have never heard of or written about, so I hope you don't mind if I share some of them here.

Wicked Lair - November

All those games looks like instabuys MB.

I really need to clear out some of my backlog. No more buying games, dammit. I'd probably get a lot more games done if I deleted all my F2P games.

Should I buy DQVIII? I have an iPad Air and $15 credit. I loved the game on the PS2.
No, I don't recommend it. Even on iPad Air or the iPhone 5s, the performance is horrible.

Very choppy and bad framerate, which is a shame.

It shouldn't have been that bad of a port. I don't know what SE was thinking.

Even if the voice acting and music isn't there, the game would've been okay if it had better framerates.

Yeah, I got a lot of crap on my device as well, LoL! Just because I have more space doesn't mean I should install all this crap! I don't know why I do it. A lot of them are free or $0.99 morsels though.

And no need to stress over ios games! That's what mobile games are, stress free $1 double cheeseburgers and free small water cups! :)

I really need to play Valiant Hearts. I want the Steam version though.

Just completed Valiant Hearts after about 8 hours of an emotional ride.

A masterpiece that everyone should play.
They should play it in school too, you can learn so much about war while having a ton of fun.

One of the rare games where each chapter is order of magnitudes better than the previous one; and the first chapter is already great.

I still can't decide if it's an adventure game with action parts or vice versa (probably the latter, as IMHO the action parts are more difficult than the puzzles).
Some parts are incredibly epic but every 5 minutes you will 'feel' the game (sadness, epicness, rage....so many feelings).

I hope they'll do a sequel as hinted by the cutscene after the ending titles.

Highly recommended, no matter the platform.

At the moment the only iOS device I own is 5th gen iPod Touch, and am eyeing the iPad Mini lately as an upgrade, but I'm very anal about display quality and colors.

Have there been any reports of an improved screen coming to the next Mini?

If a Mini is announced with an Air quality IPS screen (in terms of color saturation and contrast) then I would buy one. Tried the current model in stores and immediately noticed the relatively poor colors so that's not for me.

As an aside, have you guys seen the Samsung S tablets with AMOLED screens? I would kill for an iPad Mini with that screen. Wow. But the iOS app store is still the best.

Need some games recommendations guys, but i need absolutely these conditions to be respected:

1- I dont care paying for it. But i want this game to be the full version. No advertising, no pay extra to continue pr unlock stuff easier etc. If i pay 10$ for a game, i dont want to invest or be disturbed by publicity.Nothing else.

2- I dont want a game that i will be finishing in 2 or 3 hours. I want a game that got enough content to keep you invested.

I kind of left IOS gaming for a long time, because i always constantly fall on games that your not paying for the full game. Everytime i see a FREE good looking game, i know its a trap or think it is, and i just dont touch it.

Games i like? Well good action games, adventures, platformers, racing?

Thanks in advance if you got time to answer that.

Good platformers: Penumbear, VVVVVV, Dokuro
Some good puzzlers: Incredipede, Instantion, Blast A Way
Sorcery 1 + 2 will last you a good five, six hours and 80 Days has a lot of replay value
Motorsport Manager and King of Dragon Pass are good sims with hours of content
And of course ports like XCOM, KOTOR, Frozen Synapse, Bastion

^^ Those are some good ones. Oceanhorn and Swordigo are two good Zeldaish RPGs (although Swordigo is side scrolling with platforming elements). Battleheart Legacy is also fantastic.

If you like challenging rogue likes Wayward Souls is great and just got an endless mode.

And while I shutter to have to say this, because it is freemium, Asphalt 8 is still by far my favorite arcade racer and you can easily spend 20-30 hours with it and never pay a dime (no paywalls, no timers in the main career mode). You will get some nag screens though, so that may turn you off.

There's dozens of indie games but most probably wouldn't fit under your quest for a longer experience (but are great nonetheless).

Oh, and for Gamebooks, check our LoneWolf. People kind of compare Sorcery and LoneWolf, both are good but I found LoneWolf to be more enjoyable.

Everytime i see a FREE good looking game, i know its a trap or think it is, and i just dont touch it.

That is exactly what I do. I stay as far as possible from those. I hope the EU lays the hammer on Apple and they stop using the word FREE since its not, its a trap. As for game that are games you pay once, like the old times, the golden times, you have....

Out There. Its not long per se, but it has multiple endings and its difficult enough with the permadeath that it will take a long time to complete it. And its awesome.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War. Its 14$ for the whole game, but there is nothing quite like it anywhere. Its full of emotion and epic moments and it lasts 8 hours or more.

I second the Oceanhorn suggestion, and even more now that it is the "Game of the Year" edition with an additional chapter.

Then there is Bastion, an excellent and breathtaking action RPG like no other. Or Limbo, a "mood" platformer cloned to death ... Both take way longer than 2-3 hours to complete.

All without IAP except Valiant Hearts that has IAP for the chapters. Nothing else.

I cant wait to finally play IOS games on that big 5.5' screen.

In my veins now baby!

Does anyone know if they are going to release a new Infinity Blade to coincide with the new Iphone's release? Or possibly some other title from Chair?

Infinity Blade III was supposed to be the conclusion of the saga so we could see something new from Chair!

Hoping we see some Metal demos on Tuesday, maybe Garden warfare?

You know what would have made a good metal demo? Bioshock

I mean, if they're aiming to have really great graphics running on iOS with Metal, then having something like Bioshock would make a great example of how it could be done, instead of what the textures actually looked like in the full release

Yeah, they should've just waited, although they would've had to drop support for iPhone 5 + iPad 4.

First year in the top tier championship and I won both the driver and constructor championship.

edit:

Some things I noticed during all the seasons:

- The game is not very deep, essentially it all boils down to getting enough money to upgrade your factory, test-track and design facility so that your cars are good enough for the tier you are in.
- Every new season I got 2 new drivers, there always were better drivers available than the ones I had, even if I had the nr 1 and 2 of the previous season.
- Young driver bit is not needed at all, I invested 6 times in it but my young drivers never were even close to the abilities of my experienced drivers, I never promoted a young driver due to this.
- In races it all boiled down to pitstops, most of the AI drivers go in too early meaning you will be able to be in the top spots if you just wait 1-2 laps longer than the rest with a pitstop, the only thing that can cause problems are the random technical failures.

Anyway I did enjoy the game a lot and probably will do it all over again.

Okay, so I highly recommend Lith. This is a polished puzzle adventure, the effort and time put into this evident from the start, from the atmosphere and menu presentation, to the myriad levels and music, to the visuals. You get the first 28 levels free, the rest unlocked with a $1.99 unlock. It's just great, and the visual diversity is easily one of the best aspects. Here's the level select menu as you scroll through

Thanks a lot! I'm downloading it right now, looks amazing :)

Yeah I bought Mikey Boots and its too easy, I got to level 24 getting 3 stars and all the coin on my first run. Even the bonus stages when you figure out the ninja star pattern. Good game though, its like an easy version of 8bit Doves and similar to Pigs Cant Fly but no funny story here.

People constantly miss the point of the Mikey games. They aren't made to be challenging platformers. They are all about speed running. Improving and refining your times and challenging your friends. That's the real meat of the games.

Based on your screenshots-I will download and have a look!

So I'm getting a 5C for an affordable plan for a year and a half and will finally be able to retire my iPhone 4, which is really showing it's age.

I'm sure I'm gonna be stuck in this same situation 2 years from now, hearing about this new graphics engine Metal for the A7 chips has me a little extra worried. Should I? Or should I just assume that top end stuff will be unplayable a year from now but still manage to play most stuff fine.
