For me, it's Rosalina and Luma. Galaxy is my favorite, most nostalgic game of all time and seeing her and Luma made me :').

Mii, Wii Fit Trainer, Pac Man and Palutena really bring the meltdown. Pop O Matic's meltdown. NEVER FORGET! (And many more)

Robin and Lucina for pure hype that gematsu being outdated list

For my favorite, I would pick all trailers because they were so awesome! :)

I'd honestly be pretty happy - I think getting rid of two clones for a unique vet and a unique newcomer would be worth it, even if it mean Duck Hunt Dog would go.

I'd actually be kinda happy with that. Duck Hunt is weird and interesting and would probably be mad unique... but I'm not that huge a fan of the concept. As for Dark Pit and Dr. Mario, I'd rather both be alts if it meant we got the veterans back. The main three vets that we lost unexpectedly are cooler to me.

That's I funny, I totally don't remember Pop-O-Matic freaking out. How'd I miss that?

If Duck Hunt stayed and Dr. Mario / Pittoo were the only placeholders, I'd be much happier. Though actually believing the leaked roster to be incomplete or erroneous may be severely hazardous to your mental health.
 
I thought I read some post regarding one more retail Smash event before launch, but I can't find anything related to it now. Are there any remaining events planned?

I don't know how my reaction would be, because I don't think it's really worth investing time or effort into recreating that situation in my mind. It's pretty clear the ESRB footage was from the finished game, as that's what the ESRB rates. Why would they even go through the effort of putting fake character selection icons into the game as placeholders? If those hypothetical missing characters' renders wouldn't have been done at that stage of development (i.e. 1-2 months before release), it's also pretty clear there would be a severe time issue.
 
Well, someone made the image at SmashBoards. He said that if Sakurai didn't add Dark Pit, Lucina and Dr. Mario at last minutes then the roster would look like this.

Yeah, It's perfect rectangle roster, so I wonder if it was supposedly to be final roster but we got three more characters at last minutes.

While how characters play in Smash is part of the poll, it's also implementation of the characters and just general feelings about them. It didn't feel right for Mario/Dr. Mario to be different choices, as most people I know (myself included) just jump between the two because they like Mario overall. So, I applied it to all the characters that are technically the same person (though, I guess Link sort of breaks that rule, but on a surface level Link is Link). It was a hard decision and I talked to the thread about it for a bit and came to the current decision.

However, if I do another poll for the Smash 4 roster leading up to the Wii U launch, I'll separate everyone as the new games have made it more of a point to separate characters.

Oh, I know. I'm expecting Ice Climbers to be cut. I'm always pessimistic, so I'm either right and not disappointed, or wrong and pleasantly surprised.

It leaves the random button awkwardly floating out there and no room for Mii Fighter when customization is on.

I've thought about it too, that maybe the clones added to the CSS to make it look weird

The CSS also looks better if you add in the 3 main vets (IC, Wolf, Lucas) and Chorus Men. You could say the same thing that is image says by adding in 4 of the cut characters and say maybe they were cut last minute which is why everything looks weird.

Although with Gemastu we know very early on Lucas looked to be cut, since that guy only had really early roster info.
 
We got Link, Zelda, Fox, Marth, Captain Falcon, and Ness left for the VotD.

I think today will be Zelda.

I will be legit shook if it's not one of those 6, because that means one of them didn't make top 20 lol.

Robin and Lucina. We were expecting Shulk. We were expecting Chrom. We got one of my favourite characters, and a crazy original newcomer. It was epic.

To be fair, the random and Mii selection might've been looking entirely different from a regular character spot.
For instance, in Mario Kart 7, the Mii selection is separated at the bottom:

And in Melee, you were able to get random character select by dropping your selection coin into an empty area that didn't have a character space.

There's much more difficult things to do than rearrange a character select screen.

I still imagine Chorus Men and Ice Climbers were planned but had to be cut due to 60FPS reasons thanks to the 3DS, and that Lucina/Dark Pit/Doc Mario were quick add ins not only to beef up the roster but to cover the gaps those two left.
 
So, just out of curiosity, what first party series (have to have multiple games, no one shots) with entries in them after the year 2000 have yet to get repped? Only ones I can think of are Custom Robo, Golden Sun, Advance Wars, and Rhythym Heaven, which are all fairly requested series.

Chorus Men and Ice Climbers will be in the Wii U version, believe.
