Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XV: Kübler-Ross Edition

Loving both new tunes, though there is a very weird pause at the end of the 3D Land one that sounds almost like the tune finished and looped back to the start.

Way more exciting than the last two tracks.

Really happy with this Tomodachi Life mix, having played a lot of that game in small chunks since it came out. It fits the mood of the game really well while being a lot more elaborate than the simple little jingles that the game actually has.

As a big fan of the 3D Land jingle I'm liking what I hear.

Tomodachi life does a good job with making the main music appropriate for Smash. Still think popularity ranking can make a cool second theme.

I love how energetic and fast-paced the 3D land / beach theme sounds. Some pretty great interplay between the guitar, synths and brass / woodwinds (similar to Brawl's Kirby themes in that regard), it overall sounds a lot less lifeless than some other parts of the 3DS version's soundtrack.

Takada's Tomodachi Life one is fairly good, though it doesn't really compare to his No More Heroes, Killer7 and Kid Icarus stuff. Still one of the better themes I've heard come from the 3DS version so far.

That jazzy energy midway through the 3D Land tune.

Between this, the SMB theme rendition in Mushroom Kingdom U, and Mario Kart 8's soundtrack, it's clear Mario and jazz go very, very well together.

I'll leave this here for the start of the final WeekendGAF before JPN launch.

Nice new music.

If anyone was wondering, Dedede's new Final Smash is called "Dedeburst" (デデバースト). Idk why not Dededeburst buuuut doesn't matter.

What's it do?

I don't recall DeDeDe ever doing that in Kirby, did he?

Dolphin Shoals, is that you? D:

I sincerely hate the fact that the best part of that song (the almost Soil & Pimp Session "Paradiso" like groove when you come out of the sea for the antigrav bend on the third lap) is heard for the most minuscule amount of time that you'll be there on the level.

3d land theme sounds great especially towards the end, the tomodachi life one is great as well but hard to image battling to that kind of music lol

Meh, I can't really get into the Tomodachi Life music. The main whistling portion is okay, and it's fitting music for TL, but it's nothing I'd want to actually sit down and listen to. It's like a lot of the hourly music in Animal Crossing: totally appropriate for the setting, but not particularly interesting on its own.

What are the odds that custom moves offset and somehow make the game more balanced?

The super in-depth post someone linked to above basically says that's likely the case. Having a worse option than the default doesn't do any harm, but the chance that options are more competitively viable than the default is only a helpful thing to a character's viability.

I think he doesn't really take into account the possibility that some of these moves, or particular combinations of these moves, might be OP as hell... but things like that tend to take a while to really shake out in a competitive community, so who knows.

It's interesting to me that some of the competitive players seem open to the idea of character customization (sans gear) being an option for tournaments and stuff, because I was expecting it to just be rejected outright.

I like both new tracks.

SM3DL's is great, but I can't vouch for Tomodachi as I only played the demo, but it reminds me of Animal Crossing; which is awesome.

People like having options for bad matchups. Look at MKX and how each character there has three variations (or SFA's Isms but I'm not 100% sure if that's the same case).

The new music is all right... The Mario medley doesn't really do anything for me even though it started off somewhat promising, and the Tomodachi Collection track falls a bit flat. (To be fair, I've never been crazy about Smashing to "mellow" tunes.)
I'll just go back to jamming to "Full Steam Ahead" instead!

What makes you think that? We love more options and variety in the base game.

The only major problem we have with custom moves so far is that it looks like you can't choose them on the CSS.

Oh, right. Forgot that part was there.

吸い込んで引き寄せ、ハンマーで連続攻撃。

Basically: "Sucks and draws in, continuously attacking with a hammer."

And no, I don't believe Dedede ever did this in any Kirby game.

Im really excited to see the custom moves on Samus. Hoping they don't suck, she could have some great options.

They'll definitely suck, but the potential is there regardless. Power Bomb! Phazon Ball! Ice/Hyper/Diffusion Missiles! Plasma/Spazer/Ice Beam! Shinespark!

Sounds better than his old one. Where's this info coming from?
