Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XV: Kübler-Ross Edition

So SmashGAF, now that we have a healthy number of music samples on the site (11, and so quickly at that!), what are your favorites and least favorites?

The more I listen to Greens Greens Vol. 2, the more I realize I actually like it quite a bit! Sadly, no matter how many times I listen to the Try, Try Again rearrangement, I just can't get into it at all. I just wish they'd ripped the original version from Dream Team and used that instead. :/

I'd say my ranking is something like:
  1. Full Steam Ahead
  2. Multi-Man Smash
  3. Mega Man 2 Medley
  4. Bath Time (Vocal Mix)
  5. Wrath of the Reset Bomb
  6. Green Greens Ver. 2
  7. Battle! (Trainer Battle) (Pokémon X & Y)
  8. Theme from Area 6 / Missile Slipstream
  9. Tomodachi Life
  10. Try, Try Again
  11. Super Mario 3D Land Theme / Beach Theme
The only ones I actively dislike are the last two, and Tomodachi Life is just meh. Everything else is fine (if a little uninspired), and the top four are astoundingly good. Michiko Naruke is incredible. <3 She needs to compose the next Zelda soundtrack!

Interestingly enough, Yoko Shimomura was a little confused when asked to rearrange her own piece for Smash, and she apparently had a difficult time deciding what to do with "Try, Try Again."

Yeah, I just saw that. I wonder where it came from.

Looks to me like the instruction manual--which means that someone has their hands on the game!

It would have been interesting if they just ask the composers to arrange a song of their own choice to see what they come up with (with some restrictions of course to encourage variety)

I don't see it because the bosses we know so far don't really seem to be playable, nor have that many moves... Yellow Devil already does everything he does in the game.

It was sounding like it would be a lite mode any way. Where the 5th player wouldn't really be doing much besides controlling items and barely controlling bosses. Since I don't see them as you said really making them playable on the same scale as the other fighters.

Does it not have support for 5 other controllers?

Haven't played anything on the WiiU yet that does without the gamepad. Plus Nintendo would want people to use stuff the thing. Also bosses aren't always there so you would more than likely do other stuff as well. Such as dropping items and the like if this mode is in.

So, what the hell is the Group option? Simply co op Multi Man or something?

That's why these menu updates are so underwhelming. It seems like they're always only about how to get to known information through the menus, rather than revealing new information alongside the menus.

Whoooa is it happening!? Has someone finally got their hands on a copy of the game!? *panting*

Couldn't be that someone got their hand on the special famitsu 100 page book? Or the strategy guide? Most games dont have manuals anymore, though Smash COULD be an exception.

I haven't seen the pic, so I dunno.

Also thank goodness we got music today. I love the tomodachi song, and it makes me want to play/buy the game... even though I don't care to. The music is so good, somehow.

It's possible but the scan don't really scream, Famitsu to me but they could go with clean style for 100 pages booklet.

What if the leaked vids were from an old build where Ganondorf was quickly ported over from Brawl and when the game comes out he has a brand new moveset :O

So, Smash Demo thing tonight in Japan, right? No pictures or videos supposedly, but you're not under NDA going to it, so expect a general consensus to arise, as well as the possibility of some snuck-in footage.
Almost wonder if this is when the NDA for the event we heard about the other day will be up, but I'm not expecting it to be.

What if

Okay what if

Ganondorf has his current moveset

But once you unlock all characters, you suddenly see a newcomer approaching thingy

And it's Ganon, ALttP-style Ganon, with his bitchin' trident

Once you beat him, you are then met with another newcomer approaching thingy

And it's Black Shadow, and he uses Ganondorf's moveset

And when you beat him, he takes Falcondorf's spot and Ganondorf becomes a BS alt

The NDA from PAX is on the japanese release date.

The origin of the Dedede Final Smash image comes from a guide on iNSIDER, you can Google it.

Though it looks pretty and neat, there is nothing really new in this book. However, we can make an educated guess that this is, indeed, the starting roster as it too excludes Lucina.

Is it small and square? If not, then it's not the instruction booklet.

Thanks for the link, but you might want to remove it, it's considered a scan and is bannable.

Well, one of the frames in that magazine show off that 'top' battle thing, if someone could translate?

Oh cool, you can also sorta kinda see the mii brawler/swordfighter's final smash.

I mean, if Wolf's gone it's not like they need to come up with a third Starfox final smash.

Two characters. One gets Landmaster. One gets Arwing. Easy.

Oh yeah, forgot about that.

It's a StreetPass minigame. It translates to "StreetPass Melee" literally. The goal is to bounce off of other StreetPass opponents but it doesn't go into it much. I guess there's more to it but it seems underwhelming anyway.

Oh wow, THAT'S the streetpass game!?

I guess that's a quick little game that can get you some coins/trophies.

Honestly, now that ZSS basically has an arwing final smash, no reason to not clone it for falco. It'd be such a better fit.

brb staining glass

I'm mostly surprised they're making paper manuals at all. Does Japan usually get them? NA/EU seem to have migrated almost entirely to digital manuals.

omg so naughty

Not typically. If we get anything, it's usually the now-standard single-sheet, very basic "how to play" explanation. This looks a lot like the Melee instruction manual, however, so part of me wonders if we'll actually be getting a cute little booklet to go with the game. :3

Yeah, it would be interesting to see what Yuzo Koshiro and Yoko Shimomura would have chosen if the pieces hadn't already been decided for them!

You should be able to find something on GameFAQs. ;)
I suppose it could be from the 100-page Famitsu booklet, but the latest issue just came out yesterday, so I would be surprised if next week's issue had already gone to print. Considering that the layout is also quite similar to what we received for Melee, I'm inclined to believe we're getting something along the same lines for Smash 3DS.

No manual, it was a miniguide, maybe something they give at stores or something. Nothing new.

We can get Dedede and Mii's final smashes from it tho, if someone makes a better scan.

It's possible since I did suspected same thing since ESRB video is more likely to made somewhen in May or so. It would make sense that Dark Pit got a nod at E3(June) and Lucina during July (July).

Well, I don't care if Ganondorf stayed same or not. Either would be okay with me.

Don't forget Game And Watch's nod in pac-man's trailer. Am I missing any others? I think the only reason they gave lucina a title card during Robin's trailer was so that nobody secretly suspected Chrom as also being unlockable.

What was the Piplup meltdown?

So the reveal of the day was that Piplup was a pokeball pokemon, and the "it's nothing" posts came in and everything was fine. But the next day had a late update and the thread went crazy because late update has to mean new character. So people started photoshopping Piplup into everything or people would come into the thread seeing all the posts and think Piplup was actually playable, I think it even lasted for a weekend smash gaf. People then began to blame the madness on Piplup and yea.

It's actually pretty impressive how similar the PotD threads are to the Dojo thread, different players, same Smash Cycle.

Potd is really useful for people picking up the Japanese version

That's true. I feel like I know the menu layout like the back of my hands now.

I probably would have been fine since the bottom screen has pictures anyway.

So, good to know that we finally know what the streetpass content is.

It's this!

Not really since we got two new pieces of music as well.

Back in the Dojo days today's update would have taken three days.

Man. Remember in the very beginning of Smash 4's pic of the day when we got a random picture with no text? And the 3DS pictures were half the size?

If it had been like that the whole time I would have stopped checking. I didn't check the website A LOT in the beginning because a picture with no explanation or legitimate content was a waste of my time.

Now I am a slave.
