Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XV: Kübler-Ross Edition

They should make it so that Ike's Great Aether heals him.

Also, part of me kind of thinks Ike's quick dash will have a customization move that's simply a chargable projectile instead of a dash.

Peaches should be updated that you fall asleep regardless where you are at.
Hold onto ledge you fall to sleep and let go. In the air you just fall straight down.

I will admit, one of the only things I hate about the newcomer trailers is that too many reveal the final smashes of the newcomers right away. Only Villager's, Megaman's, Rosalina and Luma's, and Lucina's didn't. I miss people speculating as to what it would end up being.

Wow, I hope someone takes better pictures of that advertisement, because those angles are awful. D:

A few things I noticed:
  • ZSS' Final Smash is called "Starship"
  • Greninja's Final Smash is basically called "Hidden Ninja" (literally "Secret Ninja Technique")
  • Charizard's Up Special is once again Fly

And then the (very) little info I could gather about the Mii Fighters' default moves:
  • Mii Brawler Neutral: Shotput Toss - lobs a heavy ball at the opponent
  • Mii Brawler Side: Onslaught - builds strength, then unleashes a series of rapid-fire kicks
  • Mii Brawler Up: Soaring Axe Kick - kicks the opponent upward, then bashes them down with a heel strike
  • Mii Brawler Down: Head-On Attack - flips upside-down and does a diving headbutt
  • Mii Brawler Final Smash: (illegible)
  • Mii Swordfighter Neutral: Gale Strike - summons a tornado, turns into a gust (?)
  • Mii Swordfighter Side: Whirling Slash - does a somersaulting slice, can charge the attack
  • Mii Swordfighter Up: Rocket Stab - slices the opponent upward, then does a diving stab
  • Mii Swordfighter Down: Counter - reverses grip on sword, delivers a counterstrike when attacked
  • Mii Swordfighter Final Smash: Final Edge - (almost illegible, but mentions something about unleashing thousands of lights from the sword?)
  • Mii Gunner Neutral: Gunner Charge - hold B to charge, release to fire, press R to save the charge
  • Mii Gunner Side: Flame Pillar - launches a flaming shot downward, summons a fire pillar to launch opponents
  • Mii Gunner Up: Downward Shot - fires a shot directly downward, uses the explosion to boost upward
  • Mii Gunner Down: Reflector - reflects projectiles (rest is illegible)
  • Mii Gunner Final Smash: (not shown)

Once again thanks!

So my friend and I decided to go back and play melee and we had a ton of fun doing the Event matches. However, I don't see those in any of the menu pics. Did they get rid of it? :(

Damn, another sword character? ;-)

I actually think Goroh would prove interesting because he could be different from the other sword people in that he could not use his sword in the majority of his moves - he's brawny enough that grappling, punching and kicking makes as much sense with him as using his sword. :)

Not so far shown in the 3DS game.

Edit: But if they are going to be as boring and inane as Brawl's, I guess I can live without them.

Melee's were phenomenal.

Brawl's events weren't all that great, but I thought it was pretty awesome that there was a whole set of co-op events. Had a bunch of fun going through those with one of my pals.

But Melee had so many really good ones. And the Break the Targets stages were great too. Plus there's HRC (though that survived in Brawl, at least. BTT might as well not have, for how it turned out.)

At least, that guide that everyone were talking about is, confirmed that Pac Man's ghosts is assist trophy. If people still have a doubt about it.

Yeah, that's basically why I'm not mourning the loss of Break the Targets either. Both of them were remarkably "meh" in the last game, so I'd rather they spend the time on new stuff. Even if those are a swing and a miss, at least they didn't make the stuff I liked worse!

I honestly can't remember the difference. Why were Brawl's worse?

Less interesting setups and win conditions. Most of Brawl's events were just standard matches you could set up yourself. Melee had events like Kirby's Air Raid, Pokemon Battle, Legendary Pokemon, EVENT 51 GODDAMNIT... Brawl's were easier and plainer.

Yup. I forgot everything about brawls event matches whereas I remember a lot from melee

I feel like Duck Hunt Dog's Final Smash is going to be similar to Pit's Final Smash from Brawl but instead of Centurions, we get an horde of ducks lol

Reckon they'll give us a proper manual with the physical game? I used to love Smash menus, not too keen on Nintendo's new one slip of paper instruction bullshit.

This game is hype as fuck.

You always remember things about it which you previously forgot about. I was just sat there and was like "oh shit, countless Pokemon arise from Pokeballs! Metagross, Deoxys, Arceus!" etc.

Smash always has little nice touches.

Man... in one week we will both know for sure the final 3DS game's roster, but the wait until the rest of the world's release will get significantly harder...

The one thing that keeps bugging me, though, is that we might not actually know Ridley's status in one week, since Pyrosphere is not in the 3DS version. If he's not playable on 3DS there will still be a lot of people expecting/hoping for him as DLC...

A lot of Brawl Events were just...odd.

Like the one where Donkey Kong was inexplicably the monster trapped in the bottom of Castle Siege.

The popular theory right now is Events will be saved for the Wii U Version. I guess the final Smash Run challenges are basically like Events for the 3DS Version.

I hope there's a way to play them on their own since they seem cool.

I for one have had enough speculation!!! Everyday I get on GAF I'm hoping that everything about this game is known.

If he's copying everything he did for City Trial, there should be a mode where you can just play the final matches with standard characters without going through the main phase.

No reason to assume this is going to happen yet, but I have hope.

Unless there are ridiculous unlocks this time, which take 24+ hours

The way brawl did it, though (do this OR do SSE OR play X number of matches), tells me that won't happen. Someone will do a million matches over and over until everone is unlocked.

Wow thanks!

Can you read the text blurb under the kawashima assist trophy? Does it say what it does?

Not to mention he even got a brief (and perhaps fatal) appearance in the Melee intro. RIP Goroh.

It wasn't fatal for Wolf... well... I guess it sorta was, since he'll be cut in Smash 4, along with the Ice Climbers.
Man, that Melee intro just makes me weep - Wolf and Ice Climbers gone and Ridley and Goroh, 2 characters who likely will never make into the playable roster although they should.

:c

It also is the cause for my heartbreak over Ridley being old as it is - I never will be as sad as I was upon learning Ridley wasn't playable in Melee.

IIRC, he fires out math numbers from around him, and if two numbers collide which make a 10, such as 6+4, then it creates an explosion.

Players can knock the numbers away with attacks.

I'm rather sure some people won't reveal the roster on day one.

They have to unlock them all, y'know.
I'd say it's practically guaranteed that at least one retailer will break street date, and I doubt unlocking the roster will be much more taxing than in Brawl. We'll know the full roster 100% by next Saturday at the absolute latest, mark my words.

Holy shit, the people playing in that first playlist are unbelievably obnoxious (or at least the people recording them are). The Fox/Rosalina & Luma one is the worst. I'm surprised a Best Buy employee didn't tell them to quiet down or GTFO.

That said, the dude playing Mega Man in both matches does all right. Obviously we're all still learning, but he plays a fairly inspired Mega Man for having just tried him for the first time (presumably).

Finally got the video to play, and dude, this is fantastic! This should totally be added to the OP. Great job! My only criticisms are that the part with Mega Man's Final Smash would be better if it wasn't the clip from the Invitational (right now the dude losing his shit kinda clashes with the music), and the very end (the "kick your ass" part) is kinda weak in that it just kinda... dies off. Other than those two minor things, though, this is REALLY cool!

Thanks Ash :) If Heath wants to add it to the OP he is of course more than welcome. iMovie was really fighting me with those added audio clips, they didn't turn out how I wanted but I still really wanted to include them.

So this may have been discussed before but has anyone picked what Miis they will use for Mii fighters?

I was thinking Phoenix Wright for Brawler, Protoman (if I can find a good one) or Snake for Gunner, and Lyn for Swordfighter.
