Will there be PotD until the WiiU launch or are they ending next week?
Can't say for sure, but it will probably continue.

The Dojo continued for a while, even without a Wii U version of Brawl on the way.

This might sound weird, but I kind of want to see all the newcomers' grabs. I've always liked seeing what they do for everyone's grabs.

This is why we don't listen to employees at Gamestop.

I worked at gamestop through the end of high school all the way through college. Not all gamestop employees are misinformed. It varies from store to store, most of my co workers were wonderful game enthusiasts and would be very far from your 'cliche gamestop employee.'

It really varies from store to store.

I would appreciate if people are going to keep Wii U potds and informations out of 3DS OT.

What if they're related to the 3DS version, like a character, item, assist trophy, etc?

Will be watching, need my fix of smash tournament action!

Anyone know who (of note) is participating?

Zero and Chibo will be there (kinda expected since it's CT streaming)
The event is a bit smaller, I think, so there is a high chance of seeing lesser known players (something I personally always like. The M2K&Friends Show can get tiring)

Looks like they got Lincoln and Elijah but a different third person, not sure what the splash screens say. Can anyone translate?

It's arino, from game center CX.

That's fine. I'm talking about Wii U exclusive features such as stages and modes. Well, it's possible that we would get Assist trophy or pokeball that are Wii U exclusive according to Sakurai Or Vera via.

What are the chances of Amiibo exclusive DLC characters? As in, you need to purchase the Amiibo to unlock its character. I think it's unlikely, but timed exclusive characters are a maybe; it would be a great way for Nintendo to push Amiibo sales.

It should become more expensive the more you play. You know the nerds like me are going to pay up. And that way everyone's scared not to buy it, for fear of financial ruin.

This but only for Ridley DLC.

Most of smash 4's trophys don't require skill, just time and dedication, since you can seemingly unlock a huge portion of them via coins. The challenge trophies are likely in the minority. Maybe less than 10%.

You get coins just for PLAYING. Playing well means you earn them faster, but anyone can earn coins.

Replace "skill" with "time played" and I think my point still stands.

Roger! Wholeheartedly agree. When's the OT going up? Aren't they allowed to be up a week ahead of time?

Time is money. You tell my monkey brain that DLC is 10 bucks... or 5 bucks if I play smash for 20+ hours... i'll play the 20+ hours to save 5 bucks, even though I make that much money in a fraction of the time at work.

It's a stupid mechanic that works. It tricks the reward center of the brain, makes you feel like you earned 5 dollars by having fun playing a game.

Here in the magical land of Florida all of the Gamestop employees I've met have been quite terrible. None of them knew anything about systems besides what games they played, knew none of the games, etc.

What was pretty bad though was when they would sell underage kids M rated games. I mean, I am not yet able of doing this myself, but for god's sake, I wouldn't try to do it even if I could get away with it.

Also, they would reccomend the newest Call of Duty to anyone so that was pretty stereotypical of them. Oh and don't try to buy anything other than an M rated game or anything with "anime" or Nintendo on it or else they will snicker and judge you.

Thanks!

Yeah, I'm glad M2K, Mang0, Hungrybox, and Armada aren't at every tournament, allows for some fresh faces to take the spotlight!

It's not ready. I hope it would be ready in few days.

Keep it up, if there's anything I can do to help, let me know. That said, I suck at art/graphics, :p

Sorry to hear that. I think, also, the bigger the city you're in, the more likely the gamestop employees are not the greatest. I worked in a relatively small city, population of <30k. Plus, our manager was awesome, and rather than hiring random people off the street, he left it up to his employees to choose who he hired, so it'd end up being our friends, and people we knew who wouldn't be dicks.

Nintendo's silly.

A demo would significantly boost sales, nope, too stubborn.

But really, if a Smash demo did happen, I'd want it to be limited to like three characters, two minutes on two stage choices, or something.

Nintendo knows we wants it... we needs it... My precious... Smash e_0

In all seriousness though, maybe not releasing a demo helps sales. There are a good number of opinions out there that say demos actually hurt the sales of a game. Most of the time it's because a demo will reveal to many potential buyers the quality of the game, and for a lot of those potentials, the quality just isn't up to snuff - so no purchase.

I don't think Smash would fall into this category, but there is another effect that demos have that I can see Smash falling prey to. That effect is the demo essentially giving the potential buyer what they want for free, to the point where the buyer has no justification for purchasing the full game anymore. I don't think there are a lot of people on SmashGAF that would do this, but it's not insane to think that there would be people treating Smash as they would, say, a FIFA or UFC demo. The demo gives you a couple of fighters, you can probably play it friends, so what use is there to buy the full game other than to get all of the fighters and all of the stages?

By restricting access to the demo, Nintendo actually builds a bigger demand for the game.

Out of curiosity, when did everyone start following the Pic of the Days? To be honest, I didn't know they were even happening until October - about the time Toon Link was revealed. I think that was when GameXplain started doing the weekly POTD discussions, so that's when I started checking up on them.
Since then, it's become one of the constants in my life. Wake up, grab breakfast, Pic of the Day...

I'm hoping the POTD heats up a bit more in the coming weeks. Menus are pretty boring, but hopefully the Wii U-exclusive content will start pouring in after the 3DS version's launch.
Question: Will the secret characters like Ganondorf and R.O.B. be shown with POTD after the 3DS version is out, or will they be kept as hidden characters on the webpage without any official recognition?

Day fuckin' uno, baby. And man have I been feeling that slow, daily burn since ;~;

Got it from /v/, who got it from a supposed reddit post.

Cap'n, there's a leak in de hull! What's that on 'e 'orizon?? It's... de Smashening!
Fappening joke... sorry

Is it really that hard? I don't really remember.
Cruel Melee is really hard if you try to do it straight forwardly. But you can kinda manipulate the AI to jump off. I think certain moves kill them pretty early too, like Roy's up B or something.

More to the point, that was the old fake method to unlock Sonic and Tails in Melee. It's not all that difficult to manage. No harder than 15 minute melee or some of the other stage unlocks.

I still think it's unfair on people with less time, that just like playing Smash casually. They shouldn't have to pay more, or wait however long they can get enough time to play the game for. It could cause unnecessary confusion among more casual players, too.

It just makes sense to go with the normal DLC model. The thing you're talking about works in That Game With The Doggy That Owns A Shop Game, because that's is purposefully an experimental game, Smash is not.

So is swimming back in this game or not? Because in one of the older demos it didn't look like it was implemented since characters fell right through the water in Tortimer Island.
