No one was expecting Melee physics, just dash dancing because that was part of the feedback players at the Invitational gave the Nintendo Treehouse people. The feedback likely never made it to the development team. And even then, no one was expecting DDing, just hoping for it because it's not hard to change. Hoping that maybe the feedback would be sent to them and maybe listened to, to some degree. Whether bringing DDing back to some extent or giving us other options instead on the ground to move to access tilts and smashes better for spacing and etc.

Nintendo was taking feedback from all the players at E3 and participants in the invitational.
Dash dancing and movement options were at the top of the list and it seems like our cries have fallen on deaf ears. Expected, but a blow nonetheless.

Im ok with brawlish physics and have accepted dash dancing wont be back. Honestly now that I think about it with how the ledge works we wont have to see people camp all day *cough m2k * and hopefully that forces more aggressive play.

Also, were the blast zones moved closer to the stage? I'll be kinda disappointed if the situation of people randomly recovering off-screen from a single Up-Special is still a thing.

Metal Face's voice acting is so great that it pains me the Zelda series is still silent. Between Xenoblade and Kid Icarus, Nintendo is clearly capable of excellent VA. Imagine Metal Face's VA for a Zant-like character in Zelda. It's perfect!

Fun Fact: In the original Japanese Metal Face's name is "Black Face", it's probably a good thing that they changed that in the English translation

That would only effect your ground speed your physics in the air would still be floaty and slow. Also equipment has debuffs attached to them as well. It wouldn't address the problem at all.
It's not necessarily about speed. It's about control.
Which is still apparently lacking.
