Anyways, if the lingering thought of retconning 02 is still a thing, I think they would do a simple ignoring "retcon". Like, suddenly all 02 kids would be conveniently studying abroad or sth with barely any mentions of them.

Yeha with re-watching Tamers on Netflix right now, I forget how awesome it is. I'm currently watching it with someone who has never really given Digimon a chance, but is surprised with its deep themes. Adventure was always an adventure, but it really never went as deep.
Tamers 02 would be a "no thanks" for me. They should leave it as is. As for the stereotypes, Jen WAS smart and seemed to enjoying tech from the computers all over his room, but there was nothing there saying "I'm the smart one!" Ruki is smart with her battling skills, but there's no clear-cut Koushiro character. I like that.
It was more like the pacifist lead with a cute digimon who also happened to be the smart one, was a male; and the incredibly strong cool wolf lead that has sincerity issues, was the female.
Of course, that was only in the beginning, and as the leads experienced character growth, so did their Digimon. Renamon later evolutions were more defense oriented, and Terriermon's were more offense oriented.

Wow I didn't really think about that but yeah. Renamon's evos mainly had defense buffs for the team to shield them, and Terriermon's eventually went all-out with a bang bang bang.
I did like the fact that the lone wolf was female, since pretty much every other show that has those, has the "cool" male character.
