For some reason I think Mario looks really fun this time around. Can't wait to try him out.

But mostly Marth I guess, since I've played him the most.
 
That video convinced me. Ridley is a playable and he's a hovering character. He doesn't walk on the ground. I'm not sure how that works with jumps and what not, but I'm sure they'd find a way.

Do we really need another reptilian villain character that hovers over the ground, rather than walking on it? Why do people want such repetitive newcomers? Might as well give Ridley a sword while you're at it.

Ammy in Smash would be terrific.

Look at all these alts we've seen in this demo, and that's not even half of the total roster's alts. :D

Still cannot comprehened there being over 612 specials not counting equipment.

Maybe Sakurai inconsistent treatment of what's a clone and what's an alt was designed on purpose in order to prevent someone from leaking the entire roster with one screenshot (they'd have to have the complete build and cycle through each color of each character, and by then the Nintendo ninjas would have gotten them).

DLC doesn't have to be rated by the ESRB so long as the content does not exceed the parameters of the games originally rating. If the extra content does, then it is rated accordingly, separately from the game.

That makes literally zero sense haha.

But yeah, I'm sure characters like Lucina/Dark Pit/Doc were originally going to be alts until Sakrai realized they should have at least one property different, at which point they became characters.

Has anyone done a megalist of all impressions? I am looking for Samus bomb info, and Palutena Auto-Reticle and Reflect info.

Also, I am more convinced than ever that there is more to the roster, and here is why: if Alph and other "alt costumes" are just alts, why are Dr. Mario, Dark Pit, and Lucina their own characters? Sure, they have slight moveset variations, but Alph could have been given a slight adjustment as well.

My hypothesis is that Sakurai wanted that perfect square for the roster, but they didn't have time to make enough characters. So he chose a few alts like Dr. Mario, and gave them slightly different movesets to fill space. That would give him the perfect box shape once everyone is unlocked. Otherwise, it would have made more sense to give alts like Alph their own space, ensuring a better looking CSS.

So I read on the reddit post that has all of Zipzo's impressions that apparently Ben might've been telling lies and he wasn't at an event at all? Did anyone hear about this?

Sakurai already explained this, if a character is going to have even a slight adjustment to their moveset ala Lucina's blade not having a tipper they are a unique character on the css, if they are literally just a model swap with the same moves (alph and probably the koopalings) they will be an alt costume.

I wouldn't read anything else into that

If you want to think Lucina or Dr Mario wasn't originally planned to be playable and were promoted to full character due to other characters being cut for time that's certainly possible, but we have no evidence currently to support that assuming the CSS in the leaked image isn't final. If it is final then even I'd assume either Lucina or Dr Mario got promoted because Ice Climbers weren't working out on the 3ds and they didn't have time to fix.

I can't get together all of what Masked Man said but he did try Samus' bombs a bunch and said they exploded on contact however they still seemed to bounce first before exploding on the player(s).

Samus's bombs explode on contact (regardless of time), and autoretical aims for where the player was at the time of the button press, causing at least one complete miss.

I said right in my post that it would be easy to give slight moveset adjustments to these characters.

Fire Peach: add a fire effect to her attacks for extra damage over time, but less direct damage

Fierce Dirty Link: sword tip is less powerful a la Lucina

Alph: different Pikmin order or priorities

That is like a day of coding for 3 more clones, but Sakurai didn't do it. He did it for others, though. That is the big issue here. I think there was a need.

I went to get what Zipzo posted this morning, here's the quote from Smashboards.

These were release builds of the game in almost their entirety. Some people secretly backed out to try Smash Run. A lot of people spent time exploring menus and other modes but the operators did their damnedest to keep people in the 2 minute match mode. They couldn't keep their eye on everyone.

I'm positive this was the full game, there was even equipment being unlocked randomly on some machines. IE, this machine had equipment that another machine didn't, presumably because someone snuck In a smash run round or did something else to unlock them.

So Ben was probably a liar and D1 was stupid enough to believe him -- which in turn because Ben had D1's backing made everyone else believe him. :/
 
Man they should've put the rock pikmin there, maybe like the Wario waft, a pikmin that only appears once every minute or so and is slow to throw but can be a really strong hit. Or use it in the Final Smash... instead of keeping the old one and creating an item that works exactly the same >_>

Am I the only one that can't get why Rosalina and Luma work but IC don't? I mean, you could argue it's about the complexity of the model, but it's not that different and they could've put Nana at 30fps like the AT or something. I still don't buy that they are cut due to 3DS limitations.
