To be fair (and I'm not advocating that anyone should carry a gun), if he had produced a firearm, most if not all of those kids would've bolted. Now, whether he's a level-headed enough individual to avoid unnecessarily shooting anyone is another matter (and sort of the big problem with people having guns.)

I'm a pacifist anyway, so I don't believe there is any such thing as "necessary shooting." Ultimately, this entire happening is a failure of the entire community. You can't say it is just some individual cases of bad parenting when it is obviously much larger. If the community valued their youth, even the indirect positive influence in the lives of these 100+ particular youth would have been great enough to prevent them from reaching such a low of empathy and behavior. Even casting responsibility for dealing with it upon the police is insufficient and reckless. When something this large happens, the entire community needs to wake up and guide the kids.

As a manager at my local Kroger, this is troubling. We have no security at our store, and groups of teens can be so rowdy and unpredictable.


Murder Kroger is an actual thing, which is saddening. At our store, someone was ran over by a Loomis truck once. An elderly woman. We also had an elderly woman die in our pharmacy drive-thru. She accidentally left her car in drive as she stepped from the vehicle to grab a dropped package. The car literally scraped her down the brick wall. It was such a devastating tragedy. Freak accident.

Besides those two events, I recall a woman threatening suicide in our parking lot once, and a courtesy clerk being held up by a man with a knife while waiting on the curb for his ride one night. Also, we had a clerk who had their tires stolen off of their vehicle while he was working.

They are referred to animals quite often in this thread. That being said, going off of the posts in that thread there seems to be very little evidence of ISIS being seen as less 'animalistic' than black people are on NeoGAF. It's pretty clear most of us want ISIS 'gone', one way or another. They're referred to as savages, barbarians, animals, etc.

Happens here too, which is why police have increased patrols in tourist areas because the mob of black teens started targeting white tourists. It has died down when police answered with police horses, police in ATVs, bicycles, and helicopter to round up every one they could. Police started shutting down the entire train system and rerouting buses so the wandering black teen mobs could be more easily rounded up.

Since then, it got riskier for the mobs because more people got conceal carry licenses. Not to mention that they started risking more when gangs in some of those areas found out some black kids were beating and robbing people on their territory.

This has been something I've consistently noticed. Black teens, are often quickly labeled as something subhuman on a consistent basis here on gaf and elsewhere. Disgusting what these kids did, but I'm not blind to this overeagerness to deny humanity to blacks.

ISIS hasn't been on the radar all that long, and as those threads show people still have a lot of questions about them ("Why do they X, Are they Y?"). They're also (depending on where you're located) on the other side of the world in a region that's incredibly unstable.

This happened in a country that's supposed to be pretty civilized. They acted like animals, no need to defend them. Seems like you're just wanting to make an issue out of something that isn't there.

Like others have said, whites were also part of the mob. Maybe you should look into something more before jumping to conclusions.
